USB C is backward compatible. In fact, I use a USB 3 A to USB C cable for
charging and Data Transferring from the Phone as well with no issues.

If you're going to cool a CPU only, I recommend not going Liquid Cooling
using an AIO Cooler. Why? Heatsinks with Fans work much better and require
less maintenance.

I have this same cooler cooling my i7-9700k and it is running overclocked
at 5.08GHz. The temperatures are 99 degrees F to 148 degrees F, depending
on the load.

[H] Download Speeds slow, but Speed Test is good

I have an interesting problem.

The download speeds of the computer go to a crawl overnight.  A Speed Test
is done and it maxs out at 212Mbs by 21Mbs.  On the downloads goes 51kbs to
105kbs.

A simple reset of the computer fixes the problem. I have tried the
computer's firewall, no go. The Router, no go.

Any Ideas?

Something you might want to keep in mind. The 970 Pro is not a SATA HD.

When I went from Vista to Windows 7 I did not have much of a problem. Going
from Windows 7 to Windows 8 I complaining like nuts. Now, I'm used to
Windows 8 and I like it. At work we use Windows 7 and I still think Windows
7 is better.

 XP, 7 is a keeper.  I can't recommend 8.x at all (well, maybe for a tablet

Hello all,

I have a problem that is actually frustrating me.  The problem is with the 
Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Extreme Audio PCI-E I have.

The Problem is that every once in awhile while watching videos or playing Video 
Games the Sound Driver crashes and no sound comes out of the sound card. 
Sometimes I am able to switch the sound device to the USB headphones I have and 
it works, sometimes it does not and need to reboot the computer. Either way in 
order to get the X-Fi to work I need to reboot the computer.

System setup:
Asus P5N-T nForce 580i motherboard
Intel 2.93GHz Core 2 Extreme Edition
Asus branded nVidia 8800 GTX Video Card
Creative Soundblaster X-FI PCI-E ExtremeAudio
4GB of Dominator 1066 DDR2 memory

I have removed the device and removed the drivers and it sill happens.  I’m 
getting close to wits end.

You can set vista to download the updates and then you can install them when
you want.

running Vista.  The reboot command goes in, everything closes nice and

power button brings it right back up.

a windows update or I need to remotely reboot it, the server is down until I
can get back home.

Any thoughts?  BIOS setting maybe?

Although, you maybe correct but I actually use PC3500 DDR2 memory in my current 
system.  The memory is actually clocked at 1066MHz on my 780i Motherboard. Let 
me tell you it is sweet running at that speed compared to 800MHz memory.

I suggest that you clone those 2 drives as soon as possible.  As John said Use 
ghost or another software to clone the C drive.  But, there is also a way to 
partition the 500GB drive and clone the volumes to the first and second on the 
500gd drive as well.  I am unsure of the name of the software though.

Big issue with new mobo's IMHO is despite a plethora of fan  temp probe 
headers there's a lack of good, free software to control/monitor since MBM is a 
dead project.
 
As sweet as the Asus Rampage is, Q-Fan2  Asus Probe2 software suck. So an 
otherwise killer 2 or 3 IC package that comprises an extensive monitoring  fan 
control setup sits useless without proper software. Tried Everest to at least 
monitor but it it's polling seems to frakk the HDD controller causing all HDD's 
to suddenly disappear from time to time  no explanation why. Sure wish there 
was a GOOD software project for Windows like Linux has providing better generic 
SMB/I2C drivers  controls!

Look into nVidia and or the motherboard manufacturer for those utilities.  I 
currently had to replace  my nForce 680i due to a cmos error that could not be 
recovered with a nForce 780i.  Yes I know, but I did not have any DDR3 memory 
or the money to spend on DDR3 for the 790i chipset.

So, we all need to look to our motherboard manaufacturers and Chipset makers 
for that software utility now. Luckily, Asus and nVidia makes a the utilities 
there.

That Fan has a 3 pin connector.  Also, it comes with a little fan controller as 
well you can set it to were you want.  I have the 3 pin connected directly to 
the Motherboard in the CPU FAN connector.  THe fan does speed up and slow down 
when needed.

To put the CPU fan on you will need to remove te mother board to put on the 
Bottom Plate part so the the Fan is supported.  It is the only drawback of the 
setup.

I have been using Zalman fans since I got my AMD FX-60.  I use an intel Core 2 
Extreme now that I got like 1 year 8 months ago and the computer is still going 
strong. Although, I did need to replace the motherboard just recently and 1 of 
the RAM chips went bad and now running on 2GB of RAM.

I have not changed the CPU fan yet since the computer was built.

Picked up a silenx 120x38 ixtrema. 90cfm+ 18 dba. replaced the rear case fan ( 
vantec stealth 120x25 63 cfm @ 28dba. I have never seen a fan this quiet move 
this much air. 
need to find a 92 x 25 to replace the front enermax, not sure of cfm but it is 
NOISY. 

Giving the zalmans a good look, first look seems like I need to remove the mb. 
am I wrong ?

with cool and quiet enabled temps are under control but have not PUSHED the cpu 
yet and the side cover is back on.

That is a nice power supply.  In fact I have one, but got it over one and a
half years ago for a lot more than that. The only problem you will find is
that the power supply is a lot longer from front to back than standard power
supplies, you will probably need to get a new case or modify existing case.

Looks good.  7 Degrees C is something that helps out. Make it so that the
power supply blows air out to the rear of the case.  Also try to make it so
there is no or hardly any interruption in the air flow from the front of the
case thru the power supply.

My next case is going to be either TJ09 or TJ10 from Silverstone. If I get
the TJ10. I'll get he ESA version of it.

i/o = 80mm fans except in front of HD which are 30mm
I/O = 120mm fans

One point to note and I hadn't really paid any attention to this before
but the new PSU is so long it separates the bottom of the case from the
top. The 120mm exhaust fan above the CPU seems to be doing the job for
the bottom of the case now that I have proper air flow.


No crashes so far, but I still may look at getting a different case
eventually to allow for full case airflow.

I do use a 680i Asus motherboard, A Zalman CPN9600 CPU fan, an Asus
8800GTX
video card.  There is no cabling in the way of the components. Even the
power supply is kept neatly.  BTW, the power Supply is a PC Power
Cooling
Silencer 750.

going out or going in there? If the air is going outward try making the

I would have air going towards the inside of the case to put the air on the
components.  Have air move out of the case can lead a void spot where there
is no air flow.

Here's an example of my case:

So air goes thru the hard drives to the power supply and out the bottom. Air
comes in from the front of the case over to the CPU FAN then out the back.
Air is pushed into the case at the Video Card area and is pulled out in a
Blow Hole on the top of the case. This works very well in my case.

I do use a 680i Asus motherboard, A Zalman CPN9600 CPU fan, an Asus 8800GTX
video card.  There is no cabling in the way of the components. Even the
power supply is kept neatly.  BTW, the power Supply is a PC Power Cooling
Silencer 750.

Look into your case and make sure your airflow is working well.  This means
get the power supply cables and mother board cables out of the middle of the
case and try to hide them. Also, put some quality fans in the case, may make
it loud once the fans turn on full, but at least it will keep the components
cool.

Another thing you may want to look at is the power supply.  Make sure it is
moving air thru it and keeping cool. Why?  The hotter the power supply the
less power the power supply will give to your computer components.

I agree 100% and I was trying to get that across in my note. The X38 is
head and shoulders better than the 780i. It's just that I had a burning
desire to play with SLI.

I think the crashes are certainly heat related as they will only happen
whilst I have been playing games for a while.

I am considering swapping out the 9600GT for a 9800GT2 but the NB temp
is still very concerning, the StrikerII motherboard is the big issue
here. It's a piece of crap. 

So with all that said. I would like to get the 780 running stable just
because I'm not going to let it get the better of me. (I still have the
X38 so will probably switch it back eventually)

No offense, but I would call going from an x38 to a 780i a downgrade,
not an upgrade, unless you must have SLI - and even then I'm not sure of
the value/performance ratio of two 9600GTs vs a single 9800GTX.

Water cooling should not be required in a non-overclocked system these
days, even an SLI rig. You have much deeper problems than heat if you
are experiencing crashes like that. I wouldn't suspect power either.

There are other games, if your into futuristic gaming try out Tabula Rasa.
It has questing and instances in it and is an MMO. If want serious content
and don't really care about graphics much there is always World of Warcraft
(Warcrack I like to call it).

Antec has recently gone downhill a bit on the quality of their power
supplies. Right now I recommend Silverstone and PC Power and Cooling for
gaming rigs.  For base or normal use computers Antec will do fine.

I know the pain about lowering graphics requirements for Vista, I have a MPC
that is almost unusable with Vista Premium.  Although, plays videos and
songs very nicely. Too bad no video games though. My laptop is a XPS Gen 2
and it is still going strong with Vista Ultimate installed (Installed it
because of work requirements). 

The total opposite can be said for my gaming computer. It has Windows Vista
Ultimate and it runs just as fast as it did with XP MCD. Of course this
computer has upper end gear though. Only thing I am pissed about is
Directsound and the inability to decode 5.1 on SD-PIF. But, alas I live with
it.

I have a question though, were did the e-mails come from? Did Microsoft give
them freely or was there a court order for them?  I did not remember
anything of mentioning that.  If they have not been given freely by
Microsoft or a court order was used the person that handed them can be
charged for theft of the e-mails, since the e-mail belong to Microsoft.

I have personally seen cases of people brought to court for illegally using
company e-mail for personal and/or illegal use. My job gets me into those
situations sometimes :(

You need to figure out if the notebook hard drive is SATA or PATA.  Once you
figured that out, try to find a drive with fall protection. Toshiba makes
some good drives for this, but are a bit slow in speed.  If your looking for
performance, Samsung has some good ones out right now.  Unfortunately the
Western Digital Notebook drives run hot and use a lot of voltage. 

Also, my back up is like 3 fold. Laptop is backup'd to main computer at home
over network. Home computer is backed up to External FireWare drive.
Firewire drive is backup'd at work and stored on servers there.  Right now
it's about 350GB of data.

I've only had a laptop for about 18 months now and just experienced my first
HD failure.  I actually got a heads-up from SMART a few days prior that
failure was imminent so no data was lost.  But I've never dealt with
notebook HDs before so I was wondering if there was anything I should be
looking for in a replacement.

I have heard that just recently they came out with drives with on-board
encryption. I would love to have that but I'm guessing that the BIOS needs
to support it.  The laptop is an HP NC600 series that I bought refurbished
so it's a few years old.  Centrino-based and works just fine for what I
need.

Are there any incompatibility things that I should be on the look out for?
Or are most notebook drives pretty much interchangeable?

with some naming error in it.  Try to delete the file if it is not of any
value. If that does not work try using a folder utility like FAR to delete
it or rename it.

Also, this could mean the command dir is damaged somehow and you will need
to fix the OS itself. This is rather rare, but I have seen it in the past.

I have a brand new Toshiba with Vista in the shop, and I'm trying to 
setup dial up networking.  It dials fine, the modems handshake, it 
starts the username authentication, and then it disconnects.  It 
gives the message Error 1717: the interface is unknown.  I can't 
find a resolution.  Anyone see this and have a suggestion?  The 
username/password works with XP.

Yes.  Also, have you tried running the DUN in Administrator mode?  Try that
to see if it works.  Also, make sure the user your logged in as is an
administrator of the computer as well.

Most SMART errors are letting you know the drive will fail.  There is an
ANSI standard for the Errors you receive.  I forget where I used to get the
codes.  Now a days I just get the drive duplicated as soon as possible.  

IMO, most SMART problems are due to the Track 0 (Servo Tracks) are being
destroyed for some reason or another. You are unable to repair those
sectors, it has valuable servo information about your unique hard drive.  On
the other hand it could be a CC error in the Upper area as well that's
creating the error. I would still duplicate it and get it replaced.

Rule 1:  Back the data up
Rule 2:  See rule one
Rule 3:  No Backup, cry and look for ways to get it back.

So I already know that SMART isn't *always* smart but I start
xcopy'ing everything nonetheless. I grab my famous PROGRAMS DISCS and
start loading Partition Magic and Drive Image. I pick another drive in
this same system (there are 4 physical drives - 2 on Promise 100
card) and xcopy both partition on the drive over to this new(ish) one.
I have to do this because the original and possibly failing drive is a
30gb split in half with a FAT32 Win98 install on C: (First half of
drive) and a NTFS WinXP Pro install on E: (Second half of the drive)
AND the new one is a 20GB. Size isn't the same so Drive Image won't do
a copy disk to disk for me. No worries, I think, I partition the 20GB
in FAT32 the first 40% and NTFS the last 60%. I copy the data over
(again). I make sure boot.ini (on first partition) and ntdetect.com
and all that are there on that 98 partition and all that. They are
exactly the same. So I pull the system swpa the drive and put the 20GB
in the (failing?) 30gb spot and jumper them etc. I mark the 20GB drive
active with 98 disk AND do a fixmbr and fixboot with XP and still the
drive will only boot to 98. If I mark the NTFS/XP partition it just
sits blinking cursor - no boot menu - no nothing. WTF am I missing
here?


Is there a program that can query SMART error messages? I would really
like to know what is wrong with the drive because it's still just chugging
along here. Thank god the bios allows me to boot from scsi devices.

Hello,

What program you use to duplicate it?  Also, make sure you have a copy of
sector 0 to get the dual booting working.

Yeah, I didn't mess around. I backed up - twice actually. Now if I can
just get the replacement drive to boot properly.
It's the dual boot thing that's giving me grief.

Servo tracks are not red only.  Parts of them are changed on a constant
basis, such as the growing bad sector list, etc. The servo tracks are
written normally like regular data on the media surface. The permanent
components of the servo are sometimes written to the Processor or CMOS of
the hard drive.

Servo tracks are spread across all sides of the hard drive so the sides can
sync with each other for optimum performance. Hard Drives are quite
complicated when you look at the actual components and whats actually
written to the media surface.

But, I always thought that a drive's Servo Tracks are recorded at Mfg. AND 
that the head used to process the Servo Track was always READ Only. The 
Servo head can never, ever Write (erase) the Servo tracks. I always thought 
that the servo tracks were laser burned/encoded to make them as permanent 
as possible. Perhaps I am still a bit too old-school!

Do you mean that the Servo Read head could be getting flakey?  I do recall 
that if the Servo Read head ever crashed, the whole drive was 
toast!  Really do like your 3 rules! LOL!

Thanks for your explanation. Your explanation is truly scary, but, does 
explain many of the subtle hd errors we now see.  Suspect there is logic to 
the madness, though I do not see it yet.  I suppose I need to go back to 
school again. Modern hd's are just so much PFM any more!

This is getting to be ridiculous. Yes, Vista is different.  A lot of PC
users do not grasp on how to use Vista. There are ways to turn off certain
warnings and what not. In fact, if you have the hardware for it why not go
vista? You'll miss out...

The one thing I do not like about vista is the Audio control.  No more
Directsound to hardware. It's all done in HAL (Not the 2001 Computer
either). This makes a lot of gamers pissed off, especially when they use
SDPIF to connect to their speaker system.

I remember not so far back that XP was getting the same, if not more of the
same treatment.  BTW, I've been told Mac's new OS is faster than Vista. Who
knows.

I do have issues with Vista as well.  Many people do as well. Once SP1 of
Vista comes out it should address some issues with Vista.

got $200 off from Dell getting Office Pro 2007 combo. The OEM version was a
lot less expensive.

It was, but remember its Retail not OEM.  Right now Vista Ultimate goes for
$189.99 for 64-bit and $169.99 for 32-bit.  Also, the Retail version has
both 64-bit and 32-bit version in it.

The Dell Switches we got are awesome.  Very nice...

The XPS Laptop I got very nice next day service on it and everything. Only
the video card broke down, replaced next day.

The Dell Inspiron I got for a friend not so good.  It broke down numerous
times.

Here's another Dell story:  Customer brings in a Dell laptop that won't 
boot.  She's already talked to Dell who has told her that her Windows is 
damaged and needs to be reinstalled.  The Dell geniuses have tested the 
hard drive and there's nothing wrong with it.  Of course, the hard drive 
is showing bad sectors and failing its internal SMART 
self-test.  Hopefully it isn't under warranty so I don't have to spend 45 
minutes convincing Dell not to screw their customer by waiting until the 
drive dies completely before replacing it.

Pretty much most of what he went over is true.  But, I would not try a lot
of this at home.  If your data is important I would suggest not taking it
apart.

Although, The SA Area Position he explained is not 100% as he said.  Hitachi
Global Storage Tech has it in the Mid area on the platter. Also, on a live
PCB Board swap, if you have been working with the hard drive, the bad
sectors from the new hd are bad on the old.  So you will never get an exact
match.

So there is a lot of holes in the presentation, but it's a very well put
together and informative presentation.

My primary three year old computer has been using Logitech cordless 
mouse/keyboad combinations since I built it. I started with a optical 
mouse set, and then moved on to a Laser mouse set (which I love), and

I have been unable to get it installed. The bluetooth stuff just 
chokes, plus the mouse/keyboard keeps disconnecting... of course, I 
can't get pass the bluetooth part of the install. I am doing a clean 
install, and I disable anti virus, firewall everything thing I can 
stop from loading at boot up. And I boot up clean, and then attempt 
a  install.

But I can't get it installed. First time I have ever had a problem 
with Logitech. I see lots of older complaints about the MX5000 but it 
has been around for over a year and you think they would of corrected 
them by now? Anybody have any personal experience with this product 
or Logitech bluetooh. I am just about to give up trying.

I have had nothing but good Experiences and Customers as well with 680i
Chipset boards.  Although, none from Gigabyte. The 680i boards I get are
from either Asus or eVGA. If you are going to do SLI 680i is the only way to
go.

in Raid 5+1 with spare configuration.

The only con I can say is get a powerful Power supply if you want to put in
more than 12 HD's.  I use a 550w atm and it does not want to power up all
the HDs on power up sometimes, so I have to reset the computer to get it to
see all the hard drives.

Yes its SATA based. But, if I remember correctly you can get the SCA 80
Backplane.  

If you want performance you might want to upgrade to WDC 150G 10k rpm SATA
Drives. You will be impressed with the performance. I made one filled with
WDC 150GB 10k pm drives and it the speed was very nice. A bit expensive per
drive, but well worth the price.

I've been Playing WoW for almost 3 years now as well.  I went from a Orc
Hunter to a Dwarf Paladin. Right now the guild I am in is in SSC and working
on downing Vashj.

I tried out Tabula Rasa and I really do not care for it. Not enough
Interaction like WoW has.

As for the WotLK Expansion it is looking like a fun time.  I am set for
Closed beta :) I just hope my guild gets to Black Temple before hand.

Nice gear. We had that problem with the T3 set too with people saying BC
coming who cares. The thing is a lot of that kept playing that did not want
to do it complained that some of the gear would have made things a lot
easier in BC at the start. 

If your looking to transfer there are only two servers I recommend atm.
Kel'Thuzad, believe it or not KT gets queues at prime time, and Malganis
(lots of RsF guildies have gone there.)

I had 7/8 T1 (The robe didn't drop until I already had 5/5 T2.5), 7/8 T2 
(Shoulders never dropped), 5/5 T2.5, 0/8 T3 (Got there 2 months before

All I got to say is ROFLcopter.  I was laughing my ass off.

BTW, I have had not one crash on my gaming machine with Vista Ultimate on it
since I installed it.  Go figure eh?  Also, only one Crash on my Laptop.  

Now for using other Virus software you can.  But you need to know how turn
off the Windows stuff.  I use Norton 360, I know it is kind of lame, but it
was free and got it running on 3 computers which is in the license
agreement.

I agree the computer asking me if I am sure if I want to run this in admin
mode.  I have a lot of Gaming stuff t hat needs to have it running in admin
mode in order to work. Gets annoying every time I turn the computer on or
reset the computer.

If you have a computer that was updated within a year or so of release of
Vista you should be ok. I do not recommend using it as an upgrade OS, but if
you buy a new computer you'll love it.

All these Caps being damaged messages reminds to let you guys know that you
can drastically reduce the problem by actually buying high end Power
Supplies.  If you spent $50.00 or less on a power supply, well may I say you
get what you paid for.

The power supply is the most important part of the whole computer, not the
CPU or RAM. If you get a power supply that sends bad voltage to the
motherboard and other components in the computer, you're going to have a
crappy computer. As you can see I am a big proponent of Quality Power
Supplies.

Well it is quite simple.  After you select your DSL modem and Gate Router.
I myself use Linksys Cable Modem, Linksys 4 Port/Wireless-N Router and a 8
port 1GB Switch. The 1GB switch is for the high speed transferring and
streaming data off of itunes server.

It more than likely is a gateway router.  Most are.

Most Internet providers do this.  I have problems sending mail via my work
address.  I just use my home address to send it with a reply-to my Work

 Is this normal?  I do know that they seem to have extensive spam, junk, 
 etc, filtering. Perhaps

In most cases it's the norm.  I have seen it like a lot.

 So I check out the news server for Bellsouth and find that it is:

Learning Vista?  What the heck?  If you don't like the or have problems With
Windows Aero, you can set it to Windows XP look.  I for one think it is much
simpler to use. But then I am used to Linux, Mac and XP before hand and have
a decent understanding how OS's work.  

I suggest you take a look on a computer demo at Best Buy or Fry's
Electronics. Move around on the desktop and see how effortlessly it is to
move around.  The only thing I do not like it wants you to confirm to run
application in Admin mode, which can be a good thing.

I use Vista Ultimate on my laptop and Gaming computer.  I have only minor
problems, but Vista has worked very well.

Vista only has an issue with SLI.  nVidia has been lagging on this problem.
Although, I have recently replaced my 2 nVidia 7900 GTX's with 1 8800 GTX
and I get more fps in World of Warcraft and other games.

The Peripheral manufacturers need to work on their drivers for Vista.  This
is the only problem.  If you don't use a Soundblaster sound card or
nvidia/ATI video cards you may have problems with Vista.  Also, Vista 32-bit
is the only one I would recommend for gaming atm. If you do get Vista for
gaming get Premium version or higher.

If you are trying to format it FAT-32 that is the GB limit.  IF you are
trying to format it NTFS, it maybe a Bios issue.

Too add what the others are giving out.  Make sure they have the correct
modem information.  A lot of times it gets messed up as well. I've had this
happen to me on 2 occasions. 

BTW, I use a Linksys cable modem and a Linksys Broadband router as separate
components. Never get the ones with cable modem and router as one unit,
nothing but headaches.

I have a customer who is getting disconnect problems with his SB5101 
(provided by his ISP.)  He surfs for 5 to 10 minutes, then it 
disconnects (he get's page not found) for about five minutes, then it 
comes back up for 5 to 10 minutes.  I looked at the modem log file, 
and the date keeps reverting back to 1970 in the log entries.  In my 
experience, that is due to a provisioning problem at the ISP (wrong 
modem in their configuration) but of course, they are blaming his 
router (which is from us, and I used it for twelve hours on my SB5101 
at home and it worked fine.)  I don't know enough about the log 
entries to be able to tell him, see this error, this proves a modem 
problem and I can't find anything useful googling the errors (except 
that it might be a firmware problem, but I don't see anywhere to 
download firmware.)  Does anyone have more information (or a place I 
can get more information) on the SB5101s?

Does the computer run in safe mode?  If so you can see if anything runs
there.  Also, Check the Task Manager and see if there is any software
running that looks fishy (Pun intended). 

There is a lot of Spyware that locks computers down and do not let you run
certain utilities.  I have seen this in the past.  The funny thing is the
person who owns the computer has no idea how they got in there.

Have a REALLY screwed up one. Spyware or something has basically locked out
everything. While I did get the control panel back none of the applets run.
gpedit.msc says file not found.

can not manage users. Was able to fix this a little and it is better but
some of this needs to be restored. I suspect a whole system restore is
needed to be honest but I always respect a challenge. :-D

Chirping means the spindle motor is damaged or the Heads had landed on the
platter and have been Affixed to the media surface.  I don't think Freezing
it will work.  Freezing only works if there is an issue with heat and
Thermal Recalibration.

You need to remember that Windows XP does not support FAT32 drives over
132GB natively.  In fact I have found drives formatted in FAT32 over 132GB
do have a tendency to corrupt.

not have to do it yourself.  I had my case fitted with a new power button

The armor fully weighted (2 drives, 2 opticals, board, 2 GTX, etc.) is
66lbs.  So, heavy so  so.  

It's not really that much of a dust magnet.  We sent one to NY a while back
that was a dead silent 8800GTX build; water cooled CPU; water cooled
SLI-8800GTX.  

Bad thing about it: had to be Vista 64, and right now, Nvidia's driver
support for Vista, and especially Vista 64 SUCKS.  Absolutely SUCKS.  

It's just one of those things.. in XP, he gets full SLI.  In Vista 64, Vista
only sees 1 card, and he gets way slower performance.  The 680i chipset, for
all of it's pros, has some issues still.  Asus came out with the P5N32-E
Plus, which is a hybrid chipset, the 650 northbridge and the AMD 590
southbridge.. so you get full x32 SLI, but it's so much more stable under
Vista 64 that it's sickening.  Nothing wrong under Vista 32 or XP with the
680i, but under Vista 64, the P5N32-E just slices and dices everything out
there.

I'm going to try to take a lot of pictures today and post links, get this
list back on hardware.  I checked the benches for what's being built and at
least I can get some good pics of an AMD Quad system, and a few other
oddballs I can get some pictures of to post and get some hardware discussion
going :)

FYI-

I am piling up in the backchannel and have now heard from 12 people who say

Hello all,
I am looking for a good CPU fan for my new AMD FX55 CPU.  I curretly 
have the Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu and I am dissapointed in the performance of 
the CPU. Last night while running PlanetSide the CPU reached a whoping 60c.

I am wondering if there is a CPU cooler you guys know about that I can 
use for the AMS FX55.
