Hi Holger. Goto the Jaws window "Insert+j" and select Language submenu, and open this with right arrow. Arrow down to "Voice profiles" submenu, and open this. Arrow up to "Create new" and press enter. Follow the instructions in the dialogbox, and when done, remember to save the spanish profile as the default profile. Re: [JAWS-Users] ***SPAM*** Jaws problems with large tables
Hi Christóbal. How much ram do you have on your computer? Probably it can be a problem, causing to less ram. I never recomend's a computer running Windows 10, Jaws 2018 and Microsoft Office, with less than 8 gb ram. Even with this setup, it sometimes can be a problem, when tables are very complex in structure, and there is Graphic included. I had no problem reading your table in the browser, but it is'nt the same as reading it in MS-Word. Hope you find a solution for your problem. As part of my business, I work with one vendor that sends out assignments via email to bid on. Jaws will often get sluggish or pause for a few seconds as I arrow down the columns and will frequently crash outright. It’s become so much of an issue that I’ve started to switch to NVDA when receiving one of these emails. I find myself even having to go into the task manager at times to kill any JFW processes in order to get Jaws back. I’m currently on the latest JFW 2018, but these issues were also present in earlier versions of JFW 2018 as well as JFW 18. I’m using Outlook 2016 on a Windows 10 desktop. This sluggishness also happens when I access the same emails on my laptop with the same operating specs. I use both eloquence with Jaws and NVDA. Again, NVDA seems to handle these tables fine. I reached out to Freedom Scientific with my problem and they wrote back saying that they couldn’t reproduce my issue. So… I was wondering if others were perhaps having similar problems with tables and Jaws? I’ll go ahead and paste a sample email I get below. Any input would be appreciated. Re: [JAWS-Users] Multiplication of MS Word pages
Hi. Regarding which font and size you have pasted the text into the document with, you'll get less space on each line in the Word document, and it'll automatically expand to a larger page size. If you highlight the entire document, and change the font to e.g. Times New Roman 11 pt. than you will reduce the amount of pages in the document. Hi. You have to goto the Windows Update, Installed updates, and remove the kb2952664, kb3035583, and kb3112343. Don't restart the computer between each removal, but remove all 3 updates before restart. When the computer is Restarted, goto the Windows Update, and search for updates, but don't install the updates, but goto the Recommended updates link, and see, that the just removed updates again is ready for install. Uncheck the checkbox by each of these updates, and use the contextmenu button to get acces to the "Hide update". When these 3 updates are unchecked and hided, Win10 should no longer be able to install automatically. I am still not having any success with my earlier issue involving JAWS 16. I just thought I would revisit, updating you on what I tried most recently, and see if anyone at all has a suggestion. Please pardon the lengthy post, by the way. I am using JAWS 16.0.1925 on a Fujitsu laptop, Windows 7 64-bit. I have 8 mb of RAM and a 2.1 processor. When I read through a document line by line, using the down arrow, JAWS often rereads the line, even though I have pressed DownArrow. In addition, I am a fast typer, and sometimes I notice that JAWS messes up email addresses and subject lines in emails I send through Outlook 2010. I could blame this on my typing, but I have been a JAWS user since JFW 2.00 and did not see this issue until I installed JAWS 16. I contacted FS Technical Support and, upon their recommendation, did a repair of the install. As that made no difference, I uninstalled JAWS and all shared components and reinstalled from the DVD. Still no success! I contacted technical support again, and not only uninstalled JAWS and all shared components, but removed all JAWS references from the registry. As soon as I reinstalled JAWS, it worked correctly! However, the very next morning, we were back to having the issue. FS seems to think it is not a JAWS problem, but no one seems to be able to tell me what setting on my machine to check or change. All other versions of JAWS work beautifully. Does anyone have any idea at all of something I might try? I find it frustrating to pay for an SMA and then not be able to use the program to achieve normal productivity on my job. I hope this email finds you doing very well. I have a question about Jaws and word. Jaws is giving me a hard time when I am reading through word documents. First it will not read when the document changes pages instead it just stops reading. This is when I am reading line by line. In the past it would read smoothly to the next page and just announce page 2. It also won't let me continue on to the next page unless I read word by word then it carries me over to the next page. In addition sometimes it will skip pages for example starting on page 1 and then jumping to page 3 and I can't read page 2 unless I go back to the end of page 1 and move forward word by word until it advances to page 2. This is very frustrating and it is slowing me down a lot at the moment. If you can offer any help or suggestions it would be very greatfully appreciated. I hope this is a common problem and something easy to fix. Take care for now. Thanks for getting back to me. I have the window maximized and it is still giving me trouble. The problem is if I want to cut and paste or edit the material in any way it won't let me because Jaws will stop at the line break between pages. Also some pages will disappear for example it might start on page 1 then jump ahead to page 3 or 4 and then I have to go back to where the end of page 1 is and move forward using Control and the Arrow kets to move word by word. If I accidently go to far for example on to page 3 from page 2, I lose page 2 again and have to repet my steps to get back onto that page. My text is all there, it is just a pain to access it and edit. If I do incert and down errow it will read everything. Anyway, I don't know if that helps or not. Re: [JAWS-Users] Reading emails where text is an image
Hi Greg. If you have Omnipage or Fine reader installed on your computer, you can do the following: If the document with the graphical scanned text is attached to a mail, than save it first. Goto Explorer, and highlight the document, and press the context menu button, matching the right mouse button, an select either the Omnipage or Fine reader submenu, and open it, and than convert to MS Word. After a few second's, you have a .doc file matching the filename to the original document, and try now to open it, and see, if it dos'nt give more accessible readable text. If you cannot find the Omnipage or Fine reader submenu in your Context menu, than you must first open the installed scanning software, and her i am only aware of, how Omnipage Work's. Start Omnipage, and when ready, press alt+p to the Process menu. Arrow down to Get Page submenu, and open it. Press enter on Start. Press Shift+Tab to the list view, and highlight the propriated document. Wait a few seconds to let the document be opened and press than again Alt+P to the Process menu, and arrow now down to the ocr submenu, and open it. Press enter on Start. Wait again a few second's, to let the ocr process be finished, press now Alt+P, and arrow down to Save As submenu, and open it. Before typing a filename, Tab to the Compobox where you select, that the output have to be in clear text, and which filetype you want to get the document saved in. Shift+Tab back to the filename field, and type in here, and tab to OK and press enter. Now you have a readable document in your Documents list. Good luck! In my Outlook 2010, I have six separate inboxes listed in my Favorites treeview section. This enabled me to have quick and easy access to each email inbox with minimal arrowing. Previously Jaws would announce “Inbox” and if there were any unread messages, the number of unread emails in that particular inbox as well. Now, since updating, Jaws only announces this unread information for the first few moments after launching Outlook, but soon after, JFW does not announce any unread messages even if there are any in that particular folder. These emails are a mixture of personal and business. My mailing list email is always getting emails all day. Whereas other more important accounts may receive Them more speratically. I now have to go from inbox to inbox to check to see if there are any emails be ith when I get a chime notification of a new message or if I happen to step away from my computer or am doing something else that takes my focus away from the pc. Are others in fact noticing this issue as well? I hadn’t changed any settings in my Outlook or Jaws from the prior version of JFW 15 that I was running yesterday to today when I installed the update. Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 9 and Windows 7
Hi. The first version of jaws that worked with Windows 7, was Jaws 11, but here you still have the same problem with the system tray when pressing insert+f11. There was also problems with announcing the shut down icon, when pressing the Windows-key and than arrow right once. Insert+arrow up could solve this, but all this bug's was solved in Jaws 12, and now the actual version is Jaws 15, optimized for Windows 8.1. You can try NVDA or Narrator, NVDA is free, and Narrator is build into Windows, but from my point of view, Jaws does the best work. Here are the questions: Every time I start up my Windows 7 Ultimate Dell Latitude PC, Jaws says that the Freedom Scientific Mirror Display Driver is not properly instaled. I have tried rebooting and repairing the instalation using the Jaws 9.0 program CD, but nothing has helped. I even changed the theme to Windows 7 basic theme. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix the problem? Other problems In Windows 7, when I press insert f11 to look at the system tray, Jaws says that it could not find the list of task tray icons. In certain programs, I cannot see certain parts of the screen, evenn with the Jaws cursor. For example the Instantbird messaging program will not update me as to the connection status, whether connecting, not connected, username sent, password sent, or the amount of time connected, while with Windows XP all this information is spoken directly with no problems. Also in the conversation window, I cannot review what I have written. I can, however, read it once it is sent. There is just something about Jaws on Windows 7 that is far inferior to XP and I wish it would stop. Hi. There are multiple settings, that has to be changed, for better use of Word 2013 with Jaws. Look in File, Settings, and go through the advanced dialog with multiple tabs. Hi Scott. At first you must run the archive tool in Outlook, so your message folders and addressbook folder are stored. Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with Windows mail and WLM
Hi. If you've problems with Jaws not reading unread for the new incomming messages, do the following. At first activate the Jaws cursor, and move it to a message that is unread. Press Insert+v and type graphic in the search field, and change the graphic verbosity from labeled to all. Now find the graphic symbol infront of the senders name of the unread message, and place the Jaws cursor on it. Press insert+g to start the graphic labeler, and instead of the three digit number for the graphic symbol, type in Unread message. Save the change, and go back to the insert+v menu, and set back the graphic verbosity from all to labeled. Now, every time you comes to a message, that is unread, you should get this information. If you still are having problems with this, maximize the window, and it should work. It can be a good idea, to goto the settings area in Windows Live Mail atfirst, alt+f than Settings - submenu, and e-mail, and from the reader tab change the time for, how fast the program changes the icon from unread to read, e.g. 60 second's, so there is time to make the changes without the risk of, that the icon changes before action compleeted. Good luck. Previously, up through Windows Vista, I could alt tab between all of the programs that I had open. With Windows 7 and now with Windows 8, often I cannot alt tab between all of them. I'll give you an example. I was just paying a bill online. I had open Internet Explorer, Notepad (where my payment info was), and JAWS. I was in IE and wanted to alt tab to Notepad. However, when I pressed alt tab, it went from IE to JAWS and would go no farther when I held alt and continued to press tab. If I released alt and then pressed alt tab again, it would go back to IE and would go no farther. So, only IE and JAWS were in the alt tab order even though Notepad was also open. To get to Notepad, I had to use the JAWS window list, which I don't find as convenient as alt tab. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have any idea how to fix it? As I said, this started with Windows 7 but I am now using Windows 8, on a different machine, and am getting the same behavior. I upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 at the same time that I upgraded from JAWS 9 to JAWS 13 (I'm now using JAWS 14). I don't know if this is a Windows issue or a JAWS issue or something else. This is a small thing but it really bugs me so if anyone has any ideas, please speak up. Hi Shane. On Windows 7, Java update dos'nt appear in the systemtray automatically. You must go to the progressbar and startmenu, and select the configure button, and set the compobox for Java updates to Show icon and message and hit ok, and than you will find the Java update in the system tray. Be aware of, that only the 32 bit Java automatically is updated, if you're running a 64 bit system, and use's the 64 bit browser, than you must manually update the 64 bit version of Java, by going to the www.java.com through the 64 bit browser, and download the update, and install it offline. Re: [JAWS-Users] WLM and JAWS14 questions
Hi. At first change the setting, so emails dos'nt change status to read after beeing highlighted in five seconds, e.g. to 60 seconds or unselect the checkboks so emails first are getting read, after beeing opened by pressing enter on each. Set than the graphic information temporary to All and find an unread message. Move the Jaws cursor to pc cursor, and use the ctrl+left arrow key to the first graphic and press insert+g. Instead of the graphic number, type Unread or Unread message, whatever you want Jaws to say, and if you're using braille, type also what to be shown in the braille display in the desired field and select ok. This was the first step. Find a message that contains an attachment, and move again the Jaws cursor to pc cursor, and once again use the ctrl+left arrow key to the graphic symbol for the attachment. If you, when arrow'ing up/down arrow searching for the email containing the attachment, recognized only one graphic element on that line, where the attachment was found, than arrow to this graphic symbol using the Jaws cursor, and press insert+g and type the new label e.g. Attachment, and do the same for braille, if you're using such one. If there are more than one graphic on that line in frontt of the sender and subject, than you must give it a try, but remember the number of the Graphic you change, so you are able to change it back afterwards, if it should be wrong. When finishing this proces, set the graphic information back to labeled, and you should be done. Good luck. Hi. When turning on the computer for the first time, you must select language, country, date and time, and run a setup of the operating system. When this is done, you can install Jaws and so on.
