Re: [LegacyUG] Searching for Legacy email with reduced MH subscription

Thank you Dave! This proves that the My Heritage agent who called me
in October, 2023 lied when she said MH can or is no longer honoring
that agreement.
Much thanks to all of you,
Gloria

[LegacyUG] Searching for Legacy email with reduced MH subscription

2023-12-31 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Does anyone have the email of when Legacy was bought out by
myheritage.com from many years ago? That email stated that as Legacy
users our subscription fee would be $125 for our lifetime. Another
Legacy user in the last few months asked the same question more or
less but his value was even less than $125 that he remembered being
promised.

Because I needed to change my credit card number for my MH
subscription, I ended up not being able to do it on their website but
instead had to be pestered by one of their sales agents on the phone
that caught me at a bad time. The agent kept saying that the
agreement from long ago is no longer valid and out of frustration, I
paid $747.50 and got locked in for 5 years. Each time I said no, I got
another $50 gift certificate to use on MH. This agent promised elite
customer support which I have gotten none of until I threatened MH
with unethical business practices.

Thank you in advance,
Gloria

Re: [LegacyUG] Gedcoms - asking for a miracle

2023-12-22 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Thank you Lori! Are you saying that I could synch Legacy to myheritage.com?
Is syncing from Legacy possible with Ancestry.com or Roots Magic? If
there's a synch option in Legacy, I can't find it. I use only Legacy and
myheritage.com for my genealogy, and have no experience with Roots Magic. I
have an Ancestry account but don't use it. Are any of these other sites
better for syncing? Forgive me if I'm not asking the right questions. What
Cloud service do you use?

Thanks again,
Gloria

[LegacyUG] Gedcoms - asking for a miracle

2023-12-21 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Hi,

I know from asking this group many years ago that media is not uploaded
with gedcoms. I've asked myheritage.com is there any way of using all the
work I've done with numerous certificates and photos for most if not all
individuals in my 60,000 and growing tree, to be uploaded without their
cumbersome one-by-one loading of media? I was told to upload my Legacy 9
software to their FamilyTreeMaker, and that it would transfer the media as
I have it in each individual's Media Gallery. I didn't spend more than 5
seconds to see that it didn't work. The first thing that jumped out is that
I am married when I have marked in the Marriage Box the line that says "No
Evidence that this couple ever married". Is there a way to change that? I'd
rather it say "This couple didn't marry".

So I'm asking for a miracle - Is there a way that I can share what I have
in Legacy 9 with others besides the tree with no media on myheritage? Or is
there some wiz out there that would love to develop the necessary software?

Best to all,
Gloria

[LegacyUG] set as dead when options is not

2022-04-24 Thread Gloria DeSousa
I've had two people now tell me that individuals in their family that are
in my tree are marked as dead in my tree when they're still alive. I have
in Options section 2.3 to make them dead if over 120 years old, and ask as
Living if set at 94 years old. So how could this have happened if I have it
set at 120?

I tried tagging in Search and some other methods to change Dead to Living
in the individuals already inputted, with no luck.

Re: [LegacyUG] Parents of Spouses and children in reports

2022-01-28 Thread Gloria DeSousa
What I'm hoping for is that I'll be able to upload not only the
individuals, and what user controls come in a gedcom, but all that's in
individuals' Media Gallery as well to websites such as myheritage.com, and
from the little I understand, it seems that will never be possible.
Correct? I don't use many of the bells and whistles in Legacy also. I tried
but have found that even with instructions, it's not intuitive (to me).

Juergen, I'd like to know more about your combination of Legacy & TNG and
have a peek at your site. Basically, I like to know if you can accomplish
what I first mentioned - having the Media Gallery accessible online to
anyone. I have a myheritage.com account that I upload gedcoms to
periodically but would love a way to have Legacy's Media Gallery in
myheritage.com or any other online site, without manually attaching each
and every one to their respective documents in myheritage.com. I am well
over 50,000 individuals, some with as many as 60 documents and/or photos -
that is my method of sourcing. I have tried to upload to myheritage.com all
of my media but it crashed.

I assume that when it comes to what I'm looking for, it won't matter if
it's Legacy or RootsMagic. Correct?

Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy 10?

2022-01-24 Thread Gloria DeSousa
I know this is off topic, but when you migrate from Legacy to Roots Magic,
is there a way to transfer everything, meaning what's in the Media Gallery?
The only way I know how to transfer to another platform like Roots Magic is
a gedcom and from what I understand, media does not get included.

Re: [LegacyUG] how to combine two files

2021-11-20 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Thanks Brian and everyone else. I'm stuck on number 2. and possibly have
not done #1 correctly of your instructions. For #1 I tried in the "Detailed
Search" tab of Search under "How to look" using both "After" and "Equal To"
and in the "What to look for" I used 14 Nov 2021 9:06 PM - the date I made
the mistake, all under Modified Date in "Where to look". When I use "Equal
To" I get no records found, which seems odd. When I use "After", I get my
whole tree. I left off the 9:06 PM, used "After" and got a list of 1247
individuals. I assume that's the list but I'm not confident I got #1 right.
Next I tagged the 1247 but now how to make a search list into a file to
fulfill #2 of your instructions? I looked and can't find instructions.

Thanks again,
Gloria

[LegacyUG] how to combine two files

2021-11-19 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Hi,

I made a real bonehead move when I did a search and replace. I meant to
have only one word replaced and instead I replaced the whole whatever
(picture caption, given name, general notes) in my entire file.
Unfortunately, I did not catch on until I made at least 216 more entries. I
hate to lose 4 days of work. Is there a way to blend all the new work I did
in the 4 days after my mistake with before making the mistake?

Thanks,
Gloria

Re: [LegacyUG] 527 Error "At least one 'skipping file' event was triggered ..."

2021-09-23 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Hi Kim,
I discovered that if you do a Check/Repair under File Maintenance found in
the File tab often, it will clear itself. I kept working on my tree this
last time after getting the 527 message each time I backed up, for about a
week, and the 527 message stopped popping up on it's own without me doing
anything other than needing to do several Check/Repairs. Wish I can tell
you why it happens.

[LegacyUG] latest revision

2021-07-24 Thread Gloria DeSousa
I downloaded the latest revision 9.0.0.393 and now I can't just click in
the Media Gallery with what's on my clipboard. Does that mean each and
every time I have to click on the "Add Media" button in the Media Gallery?
I use the clipboard constantly because I copy/paste the document into all
individuals named in that certificate. Is it the latest revision or my
computer has gone kaput? One way to find out is to go back to the earlier
version of Legacy but thought I would see if others are having this problem.

Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy Cloud

2020-12-16 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Thanks Brian. I use Carbonite as my cloud backup paid service. Do you
consider Carbonite* as one of the paid services you referred to? What do
you use as backup? I store my media on the service and why DropBox sends me
messages that it's full and no longer syncing but I don't know if it's
worth paying the additional cost to have more storage on DropBox, and
therefore drop Carbonite or have both. I also backup to a Toshiba external
harddrive, that doesn't allow me to look at my files. This Toshiba
harddrive was recommended by a computer repair person who also can't
configure the hard drive to where I can open folders and files. *I have the
lowest tier of Carbonite. It took over a week to download all the files
from Carbonite to my computer when I had computer trouble, and why I'm
shopping around.

Thanks for all your tips and help!

Re: [LegacyUG] Latest Updated

2020-09-29 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Hi Cathy,

My name list opens after several seconds. How do you turn off the column
for hints? I changed some settings in Options tab/Customize and the hint
column still appears in my Name List. I don't see a choice in the Options
in the Name List either to turn off the hint column. What are PPs? I have
currently only 3 tag columns showing. I hope someone hasn't already asked,
I missed it and asking the same questions again.

My Legacy file does seem to have slowed down. I remember there was
conversation about this in prior emails. I don't use source citations. I
use the Media Gallery for each individual, and therefore the same
certificate may appear in 14 individuals or more (grandparents, parents,
godparents). I think I was told if I understood correctly, that my system
doesn't effect the speed of my file. Is that correct?

I usually learn something from these emails, so I greatly appreciate all
your effort.

Gloria

Re: [LegacyUG] Backup to cloud

2020-07-20 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Has anyone come up with a solution to the Backup Error: 503, Cannot open
zip file? I've been having the message pop up for two days, and it really
means it - my files are not being backed up, but the instructions on

http://support.legacyfamilytree.com/article/AA-00261 do not make sense to
me. It has:

Error 503 is generally the result of a problem with access to the backup
device.

You can test your CD-RW drive very easily. First, save your Legacy backup
files to your desktop screen and then close Legacy. Next RIGHT click on the
backup files and select *Send To* > *CD-RW Drive* (or *DVD-RW Drive*) from
the popup menu. If you still get 503, then the problem isn't with the
Legacy program at all. The possible causes of this error would be one of
the following:

   - The CD-RW disk is marked Read-Only, or the security switch on the
memory stick is set to lock. Try another disk or unlock the memory stick.
   - The ZIP file being saved exceeds the maximum size of the removable
   storage device.
   - The CD is not formatted for direct save of data. Reformat the CD or
   try a different disk.
   - The CD is formatted but the access software (e.g. DirectCD or InCD) is
not ready. Insert (or re-insert) the CD or memory stick in the computer and
then open Legacy and try backing up again.
   - The CD-RW disk or memory stick has developed a bad area. This can, in
some instances, be fixed by reformatting.
   - Out of date driver software for the CD writer hardware. Update the CD
   Writer driver.

If backing up to the desktop and then right-clicking works, this means
you have the kind of CD drive that won't allow to backup right from the
Legacy program. Please keep in mind, not all computers are equal or some
may have older CD burners and associated software. If you have questions
consult the CD drive manufacturer's instructions.

Any help appreciated,
Gloria

Re: [LegacyUG] Could my 10th great grandfather give birth to my 11th ggf?

2019-10-26 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Thank you Cathy. I don't know how I didn't see that before.

Chris, is it possible that the 10th ggf that I mentioned can also be my
12th ggf? If I am understanding the Relationship Calculator correctly, then
he is my 10th on my mother's side, and my 12th on my father's side. Does it
help to know that this 10th, also 12th, gave birth to two of my great
grandparents?

I have difficulty understanding the Relationship Calculator in general.
When I set it for the son who is my 11th ggf, it then shows the son of this
11th ggf, as my 9th great-great uncle and also as my 11th great-great
uncle. Is that possible?

If my tree is correct, then my parents were distant cousins many times over
according to the Relationship Calculator. Not surprising actually. I have
first cousins who married first cousins. My grandparents were 3rd cousins,
and two sisters married two brothers often. Most of my parent's village are
related. I'm sharing this in case it's of any use to know.

I agree CE. I'd rather have quality than quantity. My wish would be that
bugs are fixed before adding more to fix. I can't see the choices that you
suggest. Probably right in front of my eyes again :-)

Thank you for all your help,
Gloria

[LegacyUG] Could my 10th great grandfather give birth to my 11th ggf?

2019-10-25 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Hi,
I have in my tree a 10th great grandfather who's son is my 11th great
grandfather. Is this possible? Or is it an error in my tree that I can not
find? I set relationships several times.

In addition to this problem, I tried to make my direct line bold like it
used to be by clicking on the "Indicate direct line children in list
(bold)" in 3.8 in Customize. I get a box that says "'Set Direct Line'
Option from the Tools tab of the Ribbon to enable the bolding of names". I
do not see the option "Set Direct Line", at least not in those words, but
even the choices that come close, do not give me the option to bold. What
am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Gloria

Re: [LegacyUG] Book Printing

2019-10-10 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Thanks Trevor for asking and thank you Cathy for responding. I may some day
want to make a book also. My pictures are in the Media Gallery of each
individual. Some are in Events. I do not know what you mean by "vital"
versus "custom" event. I didn't know there was a difference in Events. Can
the pictures in the Media Gallery be part of the book?

Re: [LegacyUG] Merging only a portion of one family file into another family file

2019-09-25 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Cathy, Brian and all those who responded,
I did the "Tag and export the search list to a new Legacy file and either
review
those people with split screen or import them and then merge in the
correct file." I opted for importing and then merging in the correct file
(I understood the instruction to be one or the other). I finished the
checking for duplicates while merging, and discovered that all the
marriages have been duplicated with the same RIN numbers (number in
brackets). I can't merge of course, because it's the same individual.
Please tell me there's an easy fix for this :-)
Thank you all for your help,
Gloria

[LegacyUG] Merging only a portion of one family file into another family file

2019-09-24 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Hi,
For whatever reason I can no longer recall, I began a "new" family file
using my older family file, meaning it was the same file but different
name. I obviously then forgot to move to my main family file to continue
doing my usual inputting of information and where I do all my work.
Unknowingly, I kept working on this "new" file for 11 days before I
switched back to the family file I always work with, and the only file I
want. I want to move only the portion that is new from the new file to the
more established file, where I should have been inputting information in
the first place. I tried many things, such as importing the entire "new"
file into the established file but with over 30,000 individuals in my tree,
that produced 900,000 duplications to review based on the criteria I chose.
I tried the help index, read up on tagging and hashtags, to no avail. Is
there a way to do this?
Thanks for any help,
Gloria

[LegacyUG] Boxes keep moving from where I position them

2019-08-16 Thread Gloria DeSousa
I've always had problems with Name List, Individual's info, Media Gallery
etc. boxes moving from where I position them, when I re-open them, but
Legacy seemed to have fixed it's own bug until last night when I unplugged
my laptop and ran it on battery power. After plugging my laptop back in,
the boxes stubbornly continue to open to the left of my monitor rather than
the right where I continuously move them back to. I know there was mention
of a glitch in the program some time ago, but this seems different with the
unplugging and plugging of my laptop. My laptop runs on Windows 7
Professional since I had it in a repair shop some months ago and the
technician didn't think much of Windows 10. I've had this problem of boxes
re-positioning themselves on both systems.

Thanks for any help.

I notice that I am no longer getting the box with the choice of backing up

Re: [LegacyUG] Please forget that previous post.

I wouldn't count on MyHeritage sticking to their promise of a discounted
rate. I've had to make numerous phone calls all last year and then was
harassed with 4 unsolicited phone calls from the same very pushy sales rep
in MyHeritage last October until I stopped answering phone calls from
myheritage. He was trying to sell me some package deal of 5 years, and of
course, he was unaware of the discounted rate. I could go on with how my
account was reverted to the basic level once again earlier this year, but
my reason for posting is what has Legacy done about it? Does Legacy know
about this?

[LegacyUG] Does Legacy export pictures in a gedcom?

2019-01-20 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Hi,
I exported several gedcoms I made in Legacy to MyHeritage, choosing
Myheritage in the drop down menu, and choosing everything I thought I could
include in a gedcom. In all my attempts, pictures from the Media Gallery
never showed up in Myheritage. What are the settings to make this happen? I
hope I'm making sense.

It sounds like what I just went through. I can't remember the number of the
error message that I was getting. When I looked it up, it said that last
resort is to remove the program and re-install it. I eventually did, and no
longer get that pesky message :-)

[LegacyUG] How do I keep my settings...

2018-12-13 Thread Gloria DeSousa
How do I keep my settings in Customize Name List Fields in View/Name List
in the Family View? I want Marr1 to show up but everytime Legacy closes it
reverts back to the default settings?

Also, anyone know when my request of having more than 3 spouses show up in
the View stated above or when checking for duplicates? I was told "it was
being worked on". That was well over a year ago.

Thanks,

Re: [LegacyUG] Cloud Storage

2018-07-29 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Has anyone had experience using Evernote for their cloud storage? My
genealogy library recommended the free version of Evernote over Dropbox but
I haven't found it easy to use. I gave up using it last year, and can't
remember why exactly. I rely on Carbonite for everything on my laptop. Is
DropBox better than Carbonite for genealogy or anything else for that
matter? I also have an external hard drive that I use for backup, but only
every few months rather than daily, because it's either too old or I'm too
old to figure out how to have it backup automatically. I know how important
it is to have cloud storage, and would like it done seamlessly.

Thanks,
Gloria

[LegacyUG] Legacy Charting 9.0 Insufficient memory (case?)

2018-03-30 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Hi,

I get the message Legacy Charting 9.0 Insufficient memory (case?) when
trying to make jpg charts with 4-5 generations. I don't get the message
when I choose to make the chart into a pdf but the pdf shows up in
Microsoft Edge as just one big blank.

What does that message mean, and how can I get around it?

Thanks,

[LegacyUG] Gedcom shows only on father's side

2018-01-30 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Before making a gedcom, I printed out the instructions from Legacy and
followed them carefully. At first I made a gedcom with only dead people,
and uploaded to MyHeritage. My mother's side didn't show up. I called
MyHeritage, and the person could see it on his end, but my mother's side
was still not on the website. He couldn't help me. I made another gedcom of
my whole tree, and uploaded it to myFTDNA, and my mother's side didn't
show up on that site either. I've made gedcoms before, and my mother's side
showed up those times.

Any input is greatly appreciated,

Re: [LegacyUG] Family tree on the Internet

2018-01-06 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Hi Walter and Ward,

I'm new to genealogy and currently inputting information from tens of
thousands of church certificates. I attach these certificates in the Media
Gallery of Legacy to each individual mentioned in the certificate. I prefer
the chart option offered in both gedsite and TNG such as Walter's
http://mywoodfamily.us/chart_ventura.htm#a3. Nice site by the way. Does
either one allow for these certificates under each individual to pop up if
their name is clicked? Some individuals may have as many as 40+
certificates in the Media Gallery.

Like I said, I'm new and have devoted my time to inputting and not learning
all that Legacy can do, or to source by standard means.

Thank you for the help you've given already,
Gloria

Re: [LegacyUG] Hello from MyHeritage + 2 unique offers

2017-09-16 Thread Gloria DeSousa
I finally gave in and thought I was adding onto my partner's current
MyHeritage website when I clicked on the link in one of the latest emails
with this offer. It had his name when I clicked the link and as far as I
have time to look, the webpage had only his name where it asked for
payment, nothing else.

Well, I started a subscription under another MyHeritage Web Site that I use
often, but not his, AND it didn't add on to his current subscription - it
has the subscription starting today.

Oh, and if that isn't a nuisance, I can't call MyHeritage on a Saturday,
when I have time and it's convenient for me. I am so frustrated and wish I
had just deleted that email like the many others from Legacy that I
delete!!

Warning to all those falling for this VIP Support.

I'll be away *Friday, September 15 - Sunday, September 24th, 2017*.

[LegacyUG] Attach certificates to a group?

2017-07-24 Thread Gloria DeSousa
I attach the certificate to each individual mentioned in the certificate.
That can be as many as 14 people if grandparents are mentioned such as in
marriage certificates. Is there a shortcut in which I can attach the
certificate to all 14 people with one click? If yes, I would then add the
different captions.

I think the answer is no but after 6000 people in my tree, and tens of
thousands of certificates more or less, I thought I would ask.

Thanks,
Gloria

Re: [LegacyUG] discount for upgrade to version 9 from 8?

2017-06-20 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Thanks for your help. Yes, there is still a discount. Found it. I also
found "After conversion, the family file cannot be opened by previous
versions of Legacy. If you ever want to go back, you can do so by
exporting to a GEDCOM file from Legacy 8 and then importing the GEDCOM file
into the previous version of Legacy." so I guess I'll be using version 9.
thanks again.

Re: [LegacyUG] Family File

2017-03-27 Thread Gloria DeSousa
As always, you've been of great help Cathy...and everyone else. I'm glad
it's not me losing my mind every time my settings have changed.

I'm sure I'll have more questions when the time comes again (hopefully not,
hopefully I will have learned my lessons), but there is one question for
now - Cathy, when you say "You can search on modified date and either tag
and export those people and import them into the other file and then
merge", I used Search/Find...and then what to use modified date? Detailed
Search tab? If so, I don't see a way to used "modified date" in order to
see what changes were made that I could possibly have lost since screwing
up. I think that's the intention of using modified date, but maybe you
meant it for something else.

Oh, also, when I right click on the Legacy icon in the taskbar, I don't get
a choice of Legacy files. All I see is Legacy 8.0 (that's not the name of
my file), Unpin from Taskbar, and Close Window. I'm expecting to see other
files from what you wrote Jack. Does that mean anything such as something
wrong with my settings?

Thanks again,
Gloria

Re: [LegacyUG] Family File

2017-03-26 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Hi Cathy (and everyone else :-),

A few days ago, I opened a backup file from a zip, I then shut Legacy down
after looking, re-opened Legacy thinking that it would open to the correct
file that I set in Options/Customize/1.2 but I just checked and see that my
setting changed without any input from me, and Legacy opened the temporary
file instead, which I've been using without realizing for the past few
days. I changed it months ago from "open last used family file
automatically" to "always open this file" but see it reverted back to the
former - how does that happen? I notice other settings change periodically
also.

Needless to say, I've been working with a temporary file from the zip
folder. I tried to fix it using your instructions from January about doing
a Save As (*If you ever notice your file is in a temp folder again (on
the Legacy Title bar), get it out immediately using Save As and choosing a
sensible folder to save it into)*, and then doing a Restore. No matter what
I've tried (too confused to keep track of everything I've done), the name
of my file still has Temp in it - \AppData\Local\Temp\Temp1_Family 2017
2017-03-22 5.54.09 PM.zip\Mansa & Quintas.fdb.

Before I mess up more, HELP!

Thank you in advance!
Gloria

Re: [LegacyUG] Pictures attached to Vital Info (BMD)

2017-03-19 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Hi Kris,

I think I can figure out that BMD stands for Birth, Marriage and Death, but
I'm scratching my head over TNG. What is it?

Since I would some day like to upload a gedcom or have my own family tree
website (thanks John for the GedSite site), I'm interested in knowing what
is the best way for me to have all media for each person be available for
uploading. Currently, I use the Media Gallery and attach documents or
pictures to Events as well.

Thanks everyone! I learn so much from these emails.

Re: [LegacyUG] Family File

2017-01-29 Thread Gloria DeSousa
You've been a tremendous help Cathy. The key is what you wrote in your last
sentence "You use a Legacy backup from within Legacy. You go to File -
Restore." I was going into File Explorer instead (I use Carbonite to sync
to the cloud). It also helps to know why there isn't an Undo. Wish there
was :-) I have trouble with Merges as well. I know there's the Undo Merge,
but don't have a good handle on merging yet. I'm learning.

Thanks for all your very valuable help,
Gloria

Re: [LegacyUG] Family File

2017-01-28 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Thank you very much Cathy. Seems that Legacy saves automatically as I go
along, unlike MS Word for example, where CTRL+S is required. I think that's
where I went awry, thinking I had to "save". A backup in Legacy is a "save"
but not the same as MS Word. Not sure I'm making any sense, since I'm still
just a tad confused.

Thanks again,
Gloria

Re: [LegacyUG] Family File

2017-01-27 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Hi Cathy and Gail,

I wondered about the file name. I open Legacy using the Legacy icon in my
task bar at the bottom of my Windows 10 computer. Before I tried your
suggestions Cathy, my file name was

Legacy - [C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\TEMP2_~1.zip\FamilyTree.fdb]

I did that File - Restore. When my filename didn't change to the name I
chose - Family Tree - I tried the File - Save As. My file name is now

Legacy - [C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\TEMP2_Family Tree 2017-01-17
5.15.33 PM.zip\Family Tree.fdb]

I obviously am blindly just doing whatever. I don't find Legacy intuitive.
How am I suppose to open Legacy? I did a search on Legacy's website, and
once again, results were not helpful. When I do open Legacy the "right" way
(if I'm doing it right) Legacy keeps opening to an older file of Family
Tree even though I thought I saved my temporary file to the latest save. No
wonder I just kept using the file I wasn't suppose to open and use.

If I'm confusing, it's because I'm confused.

Re: [LegacyUG] How to make a gedcom from my legacy's fdb file

2016-06-29 Thread Gloria DeSousa
Thanks Jenny and Brian for responding. I will suggest to Legacy to change
the wording. Your emails really helped in making the gedcom.

I just downloaded gedcom reader and don't like it. Do you have a suggestion
to what app to download in order to read GEDCOMs?

[LegacyUG] How to make a gedcom from my legacy's fdb file

2016-06-28 Thread Gloria DeSousa
The instructions in Legacy on how to make a gedcom leave me hanging. I get
to where I am suppose to choose a file to make into a gedcom, and I get the
message: *"Family tree.fdb already exists. Do you want to replace it?" *

Am I suppose to replace my fdb file when making a gedcom file? Will I lose
the fdb?

I tried to make a gedcom again and this time I get the message:
*"Error opening message File. The workgroup info file is missing or opened
exclusively by another user."*

I am the only user. How do I fix this problem in order to finally make a
gedcom?

Thanks,
Gloria
