[MSX] Agent who bids in Yahoo Auction in place of you

2013-03-20 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa
I know many of you are very curious of MSX stuffs traded in Japanese
Yahoo Auction. And there are several agents who bid and buy in place of
you.

Among them this Buyee website seems to charge lowest and has good
reputation, at least among Japanese people living abroad.

The Buyee.jp I mentioned in previous post does not translate the Yahoo

It basically runs on Google translation but is very easy to read. Enjoy!

[MSX] Wants information on Italian manga fairs

2007-09-04 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa
I am not sure whether this has got anything to do with MSX, but I guess it
has, so I post it anyway.

I heard manga/game fairs in Italy are huge and attract dozens of thousands
of visitors, so I thought visiting one would be fun, and if lucky I'd be
able to obtain rare MSX items.

One is Romics in Roma during 2nd week of October,
http://www.romics.it/web/
and other is Lucca Comics in first part of November.
http://www.luccacomicsandgames.com/07/

I heard Lucca Comics is much bigger, but Lucca is a rather distant area.
I am also worried whether visitors who don't understand Italian much can
enjoy or even survive these fairs.

If there is any recommendation or useful information, please let me know.
I am especially looking forward to visit those manga-only fumetterias ;)

Now it looks more like Brazil than Blade Runner to me... (I know that
Terry Gilliam film had nothing to do with real Brazil, but heh;).

Two major points;
1. Line break rule sometimes works strange. Too often a line ends after a

2. Unnatural pause occurs alot, especially prone to happen before pressione

I'll personally report details later.

CTRL feature is fine. Now I only need to wait 15 seconds instead of 30

[MSX] MSX2 and PC88 Snatcher difference

2002-07-27 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa
This is not much important for MSX users, but one of the neglected fact
anyway.

It's has been received notion that PC88 and MSX2 versions of Snatcher, which
were released almost at the same time, were almost identical, but in fact
there are considerable differences. You realize it when you see "Metal
Slave" logo right after PC88 version startup.
One of the major differences is that in case of PC88, GAUDI informs bio data
of Konami developer staffs if you type their name. This feature is also
supported in later versions (Sega CD, PSX...), but the data in PC88 is much
more private and harsher than those in later versions.;)

If you try same thing with GAUDI in MSX2 version, GAUDI does not display
anything. The keyword is supported, but no data is included in the game.

I also heard;
- Disk access time is much shorter with PC88
- MSX2 version has larger variation of music than PC88

Woooha! Is there really a Venom, a Randar and two penguins in the cover,
amongst others?? Can someone obtain a bigger version of this image?

Looks like it also there is this ashguine guy.
There are;

- Moai
- Venom
- Ashguine
- Randar
- Penguin gate
- Red-haired Babo (MSX-FAN article writer)
- That MSX-FAN girl who had Rushao dog on her shoulder
- Cookier-kun (a mouse featured in several Casio games)
- Yocchan (the MSX-FAN music critic drawn as a white cuttlefish)
- Taguchi (brown-haired smiling MSX-MAGAZINE editor in chief)
- Green pillar in one of Konami shootemup

I remember seeing theses sphere- and conical metal robots, but cannot recall
who were they. :(
The green airship looks like Vic Viper, but can be something different.

The bikini-clad woman is probably purely Zoruge Ichizo's original. In the
book he says he originally tried to make "MSX goddess" fully naked but had
to compromise.
The boy holding a joypad is another original called Hiroshi-kun. He's
described to be a boy who has unfortunate father who keeps buying one MSX
after another for him.

What exactly is this cartridge for ??

From what I have briefly searched...

According to
http://www.itoi.co.jp/attic/time7.html
, this device was released as a subset to Victor HC-95 MSX2 (famous for
having extended CPU). I guess, with this VHD interface stuff, HC-95 could
control VHD (something similar to laser disc but became obsolete soon), such
as superimpose and screen capture.
http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Oakland/4084/p-01.htm suggests
Victor released several other VHD interfaces which were dedicated to HC
series.
http://www02.so-net.ne.jp/~imwyd/apolg1.html says back in 1985, there was a
book describing how to browse VHD disk using HC-95.

The new version 0.1.1 of Snatcher in portuguese is on

say that about 19% of the entire game is translated.
About the peculiarity of the Snatcher game engine, I think it's fair to say
that's because MSX version should had been a rough port of the PC88 version.

PC88 was a Z80 machine which was made on a totally different architecture
from MSX. PC88 had poorer graphics (only 8 colors at a time) but better
sound. PC88 made much bigger success than MSX in late 1980s as a game

Re: Nishi Kazuhiko retired ASCII.

2002-01-29 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa

This is big news. If I understand your message well, you are not only
telling
us that Nishi now fully retreated from ASCII corporation but also that
ASCII
is not a publicly-traded company anymore but a privately owned company?
Exactly.
However, according to Unison Capital press release, they will privatize
ASCII before October 2002. At this point, you can still view latest ASCII
stock price here.
http://stock.www.infoseek.co.jp/View?pg=basic_view.htmlsv=STqt=%A5%A2%A5%B
9%A5%AD%A1%BC

The price is 81 yen when I'm typing this. Nishi, until November 29, used to
own 910,000 stocks personally.

Who is this investment group Unison Capital?
Their website;
http://www.unisoncap.com/english/
however did not give a hint what this company was about. At least it's not a
computer company, nor is a publishing body (of which ASCII is).

This John Ehara owner (he is simply mentioned Ehara Nobuyoshi in
Japanese portion of this website, by the way) has a branch in London. Nishi
has several unknown ties with UK (like Madge corporation and also his
latest;) wife being a anglo-japanese), but I don't know if this is
coincidence or has something to do with him.

I found a US corp with similar policy, but have failed to locate any link
with;
http://www.unisoncapital.com/default.htm

 What are their plans with
 ASCII? Total liquidation? Big restructuring?
Latter. Unison Capital declared they'll cutback anything other than magazine
publishing division and game development, and they'll fire most of current
ASCII employees. But they haven't announced the very motive why they bought
ASCII, which everybody wanted to know.

By the way, at this point, 1ch.tv I mentioned as a joke earlier is not a
joke anymore. Some people already phoned police. Stay away from it.

Nishi Kazuhiko retired ASCII.

2002-01-26 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa
The overweighted MSX founder, Nishi Kazuhiko, quitted ASCII corporation, as
of December 15, 2001.

Sources:
- Nishi himself announced this fact in certain magazine called Dias (January
17).
- He is no longer listed as an executive member
(http://www.ascii.co.jp/info/profile/) though he was there a month ago.
- "Biography" section in http://www.nishi.org, and also
http://www.ascii.co.jp/info/profile/nishi/ lists "special advisor" position
as a position of past.

He currently works for a newspaper (and stock manager) company called Nihon
Shoken Shinbun (http://www.kabutocho.co.jp), which is run by one of the
former ASCII employees. One of Nishi's secretaries also quitted ASCII
together with him. Nishi calls his room as "WEst" of which the word "nishi"
stands for in Japanese.

Background:
CSK (Sega and a lot of others) disconnected ASCII Corporation as of November
29, 2001, a quite big incident in the world of finance.
In turn, an unknown company called "Unison Capital" bought its position as
ASCII owner. They decided to quit ASCII stock going into market, which is de
facto end of ASCII as a proper corporate.
ASCII stock price became as low as 70 US cent.

Notes
- English "biography" section of http://www.nishi.org however states "ASCII
special advisor" as his present position. Reason of discrepancy between the
Japanese counterpart is unknown.
- WhoIs search reveals that the "nishi.org" domain is reserved by ASCII and
E-store (a company former ASCII staff founded), since 5 years ago.

You'll wish you haven't read if automatic translators were accurates.
Japanese tend to use jargons and alliterations purposefully when writing in

Re: Kazuhiko Nishi... not much in BBS nowadays.

2001-07-17 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa

Can I just say 'way cool' now???
Nishi seldom appears in 2ch nowadays. Probably because in July 7 and 8, rude
guys who call themselves former and current ASCII members appeared by
masses and openly harrassed him.
According to the latest news Nishi sent e-mails to his supporters about
details of fan gathering in August.

Wow... wish we had something like this here in Holland... totally nuts!
Are there a lot of 'big shots' like Nishi there???
Endo Masanobu who developed mega titles in Namco once is known to frequent
2ch. He appeared in Nishi board sometimes.
Other celebrities appear from time to time, but I don't know for sure,
especially because their names are usually displayed nanashisan (nameless)
like everyone else.

Re: Kazuhiko Nishi is answering online questions NOW

2001-06-23 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa

The nishi in 2ch is real Nishi.

First of all, 2channel (http://2ch.net ) is an extremely nationally
recognized hell hole BBS system where virtually everyone can utter
politically incorrect opinions incognito (without revealing name). Special
syntax and spelling rules are observed (I'll explain this later).
While 2ch was once infamous for being a host to certain murderer who
hijacked a bus, nowadays 2ch is also seems as good debate ground. Of course
there is an MSX BBS too.

The Nishi Kazuhiko of ASCII retired being executive? thread initially
appeared weeks ago, and wretches who claimed they were ASCII employees were
recalling ASCII inside feud. Sudddenly, a guy claiming nishi appeared and
started accusing them in I know you!, stop lying!, you fool! kind of
way. The audiences were really pleased.

Of course everyone doubted nishi to be an imposter. So nishi began
disclosing his e-mail address ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and announced he would reply
to anyone who would write him. To everyone's surprise, nishi actually
replied to all e-mails he replied.

Days went by, nishi became more and more familiar with those guys who find
peace in having touch with nishi, who gets irritated easily shouting aho
(you fool) urusai (shut up) even kane wo moukete kara ie (only those who
ever made money is allowed to say that kind of thing) a word which certainly
is not a man neck-deep in 450 yen of debt is allowed to say. ;) A
lot of people slander and make fun of him, but nishi seems to be finding
peace in being a chubo (kitchen/junior high school student), a title
applied to 2channel frequenters.
Nishi is currently even planning meeting with his fan chubos.

Nishi is very proud being an MSX guy, and is fully convinced he'll succeed
(without firm reason; nishi too often is unrealistic). He seems to have a
lot of personal problems; he is short-tempered, has very bad memory,
arrogant, and worst of all, accepts only flatteries and refuses any negative
comments thrown at him. But I think Nishi is a good mate as long as he is
not a boss of your company. ;)

Note on 2ch
1) A lot of terms are spelled in transliterated kanjis; I mean, kanjis
pronounced same but with greatly different meanings. For instance, chubo
means kitchen, but is used as reference to junior high school student which
is also pronounced chubo, and nowadays chubo term tends to refer to
anyone in 2channel. Also, smile or 'lol is almost always spelled wara
that literally means straw but is used as transliteration of laughter.
There are an army of transliterations and deliberate spelling mistakes,
which, needless to say, render automatic translation TOTALLY USELESS.
2) Many subscribers share same name. In case of Nishi's thread, 90% of
people are nanashisan@dottokomu (nameless@dotcom). This happens because,
in 2channel, most people are encouraged to omit their name, which result in
origination of one standardized name provided to each of the BBS genres. A
few people (like nishi) sticks to one fixed name, though.
3) ASCII arts are occasionally posted to provide good laugh, biting insult
or just for fun. Some of them are taken from old anime or face of the
Japanese prime minister, but most of them feature cats called Monaa. Monaas
are de facto official 2channel mascots. They are cute, but often depicted
doing impolite acts such as murder. Even Nishi draws Monaa. ;)
4) Large percentages of postings are totally meaningless. Some of them are
deliberate lies. Fictions fabricated to irritate or entertain audiences are
called neta, and are tolerated.

Notes specific to nishi
Nishi never uses when he quotes. He quotes, then writes :
and then his answer.

When Nishi leaves, he announces what time he will appear next. But he often
appears in other times without warning. At this point, Nishi's last
next-appearance announcement is 10:00 (Japan time) of June 24.

leaving her home to the quest for Haide who disappeared without trace.

you can choose one from assortment of almost twenty cuties and a few ugly

His apps and hardware allows use of optical and wheel mice. However, in my

Self criticisms

2001-04-28 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa

Dear all sane readers.

I have reread what, since there was no one in my room other than me, my
fingers inputted.
Yes, I too think this looks like some impersonator who stole memory wrote. I
here take silly assumption that someone (alter ego?) called Tbkbmichi wrote
this.

Do any of you remember Ghost (Yurei) who attended Tilburg 2000 with his
Morning Star and his other gimmicks?
This looks like what I wrote.

He told me he was initially preparing to attend T. 2001, but dropped his
intention after he heard Nishif_ck would attend the fair.
Use of censorship code _ is my favorite play of word.

He also agreed that the current MSX Revsomething crap is a holocaust which
essentially is the ethnically cleansed attempt to rule anyone other than
.jp
under THEIR (where me nor Ghost is included) totalitarian rule.
But Tbkbmichi thinks MSX Revivalists are trying to ethnic-cleanse everyone
other than Japanese.
What Yurei told me was, that he thinks some people, all of them Japanese,
are trying to control the MSX users. He nor I did not even think about
actual murder and dictatorship.

He finally recommended me to keep away from .jp nazis, and wished those
non-jp chicks eager to be fed with nazi food to be snuffed with nutrious
gases or something then they would probably realize they were THE
 collaborators.
Hey, Tbkbmichi is crazy! He wants all non-jp MSX users to be mortally dead.
I (Takamichi) certainly cannot remember thinking of such genocide. No, for
Yurei's dignity, he didn't say this kind of thing!
Beside, the English style used here can be identified as a phrase written by
someone other than me.

To readers. Do you think I (Takamichi) actually developed an alter ego?
Please inform me if I repost this kind of obviously abnormal message.

Re: MSX Holocaust

Takamichi san, what is this supposed to mean? Is this a joke or what?
I know Adolf and that jew-hates can't be joke. Unlike most nihonjin who
reply who are the yudayajin (jews)?, I (who grew up in strange
circumstance) know much more and I solemnly is happy of the fact that Adolf
is dead.
However, I learned that European schools teach that Adolf was a insane
patient and was a devil, which hides the historical fact that many people
supported Adolf, and many people were persecuted and gased because they were
honest enough to express Adolf was a psycho. II do not think Adolf was a
single responsibility to be blamed, but all the jew-haters at that time were
responsible in one way or the another.

More than one of my relatives were nuked in Hiroshima and, and one of my
grandfathers, a high rank officer who witnessed atrocity in Chinese
continent, was eventually torpedoed down in a submarine in 1945. I would
like to make my point clear that I hate war probably more than average.

 What
is wrong with Mr. Nishi? And whatever it is, do you think he really
deserves
to be compared with nazis? It has something to do with MSX at all?
I just can't stop myself shudder with the current flow of the discussion. If
my understanding is correct, conscience to accept the existence of opposing

just didn't do the trick, hey, so now you're making yourself more clear!?
Well, at least you get reactions now...
I didn't want to get this kind of reaction.
Beside, I am a scholarlistic sort of person who try to get reaction for
(surficially) meaningless information. For instance, how many of you knew
that Auschwitz facilites were rebuilt tourist attractions (I think the
destroyed gas chamber was much much diabolic that what you can see today
however)?

It has a side effect though, your comparison to Nazi's is very very wrong.
You must realize the impact these kind of stories have here in Europe.
It's
your right to dislike mr. Nishi, but to compare him and Nasu with Nazi's
is
 completely out of proportion.
I used to think so, but my instinct and my shallow knowledge with Adolf's
life made me to think deeper about budding evidences of unforeseen subjects.

We are dealing with a computer issue here,
nothing less, but certainly nothing more!
Yes, I can definitely predict it will mean something more than what seems at
this moment.
I would like to point one point. Why the April 22 meeting appointed
important personage as participants, despite only a handful were given
privilege to decide importance? I personally understood the decision
process as a step toward aristocracy.

If you wanted to build up some credit with European MSX-users, you did a
stupid thing. People will now see you as a complete lunatic.
I never meant that much. If all of my phantasies are my delusions (I hope
so) and everyone will be happy, I'll happily spend rest of my life being
branded as a lunatic. But, if I'm not...

Re: Open letter to person calling himself Takamichi

2001-04-27 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa

 Hi person calling himself Takamichi,

 Are you really Takamichi Suzukawa?
I am. Takamichi is not even an alias.
I am, needless to say, taken back by the fact that I have become a monster
of which those who knew me before could not even identify.

The Takamichi that I remember from the past was a helpful MSX-er, who
was amongst others involved in several translation projects and who could
point us towards interesting information. For example about the mysterious
CAPTAIN system that was mentioned in the OPLL application manual.
I repeat, I am Takamichi who once, or may be still living 16 hours a day as
human being and rest as one A1GT. I am the same person who typed SNAKE and
ran around Akihabara hundreds of hours just for a package of SD Snatcher.

If you are really Takamichi, then what happened that you suddenly changed
your behaviour towards the MSX-scene this much?
Firstly, I apologize for my overstatement. I have a tendency to choose most
extreme word in the thesaurus, but apparent I chose wrong word. Suimasen.
Perhaps I am now suffering from mental disorder, but I know it can't be an
excuse. I told the possible reason for mental disorder to some of the people
reading here, but that's rather personal thing.

Why are you suddenly spreading these rumours? A few weeks ago you spreaded
the rumour that the MSX Player is an illegal fMSX clone, while in reality
the
negotations between Marat and ASCII are still ongoing.
ASCII did not think they needed to negotiate Marat. He never noticed if no
one told him.
For your notice, Japanese MSX peers did not regard this as illegal, but
they were more offended by the fact ASCII did not develop by their own.

Now you are spreading the rumour that Nishi and friends are Nazi's that
want to rule the world and that want to execute ethnical cleansing.
Nishi tried and is always trying to rule the world all 15 years,
didn't/isn't he? ;)
Last part is probably my grammatical error. I wanted to express they wanna
rule MSX world by their 100% Japanese members kind of words.

You even go one step further by calling us collaborators. I really feel
 personally attacked by that remark.
Then I don't.
However, please do not estimate the ravage that MSX Revivalists brought
since 2 years ago. A lot of MSX users quitted MSX for the same reason which
caused Yurei to postpone Tilburg 2001.

I do not understand what happened to you. Can you please enlightnen us?
I have no idea. I cannot even enlighten myself at this moment. I can't even
continue Snatcher script, a project I began one month ago. My fingers
attempts labor strike.

Is MSX Player = fMSXintent?

2001-04-23 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa
So that sluggish thing running on some small computer was actually fMSX, not
ASCII's original after all.
Actually, I thought so, since I douted Goripon/Miyashita
(mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]), who is known as responsible developer for
"ASCII-official emulator" had skill to develop a new MSX by his own. My
guess was right.

Beside, I would like to whisper here that Marat did not give proper
permission to ASCII/Nishi/anyone else. Actually, one of the ASCII
accountants misunderstood his word. Therefore, Nishi's word "we have
license" is wrong (ask Marat if you are curious).
I personally felt disdainful on the fact that ASCII, with thousands of
employees and thousands of professional they can ask, decided to steal codes
from Marat, a mundane ex-MSX user. This is nothing unlike personal
hey-you-copied-mine riffraff.

Note Goripon/Miyashita is not an ASCII employee.

[off-topic]Nazi history

2001-04-20 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa

I (Takamichi) am currently surveying modern European history. I know this is
off-topic, but I'd like anyone point to me if my understanding is wrong. I'm
aware what documented below is a sensitive topic, but I know some facts
differ from common understanding. For instance, the "gas chamber" now in the
concentration camp is actually a fake made for tourist attraction, while
real one was immediately destroyed after end of WW2.
--
Erich Ludendorrf was German chief military commander during World War 1,
which means he was a loser dog. However, many who fought at German side DID
NOT ADMIT THE FACT WW1 WAS A FAILURE.

Later, a mustached man found use in Erich and decided to use Erich's name,
not Erich's mind for his purpose. The mustached man tried to plan a uprise
in Munich, claiming Erich as icon while the man himself rallied THOSE WHO
CLUNG TO THE DREAM by shouting and disseminating fictions his malformed
brain created.

Of course, the mustached man was clever enough to avoid the sympathizers
from mingling with real Erich who was much more self-satisfied, had more
position and was not a psycho like the mustached man. His tactic was to rent
a small beer house, stuff those whom he thought were eager to listen his own
story and thus easy to control, and spoke; "I cannot say this in public, but
General Ludendorrf told me this... tell me your opinion, I shall tell your
to him! And do not leak this news, otherwise our dream will not be
fulfilled!".

Name of the mustached man was Adolf Hitler. Outcome of his dream did not
include Erich, but something much worse.

Later, many non-Germans, for instance Vichy in France and considerable
number of Dutchmen voluntarily cooperated Adolf. Some of them were executed
later, others spent or are still spending rest of their life in regret.
---
Any resemblance of this historical story to modern situation is probably
pure coincidence, but I hope none of the people reading this will be
embarrassed before their grandchildren for having been collaborators of the
psycho (s) in their youth.
A tip; look at the eyes of someone who is going to convince you. Adolf looks
really "scared" in the remaining videos.

over 500 days playing time is not translated it contains some bad french.
Which isn`t actualy the translation it also contains greetz, to the
 crackers.
So if anyone can fix this.
So that it will be complete.
I am no fan of Kingkong, but my filmy memory suggests me of a site which
notifies password just prior to the game ending. I'll see if I can quickly
view the Kingkong 2 ending and get quick translation job of it.

Captain Multi Station ram checkup result

2000-12-20 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa

To Maarten:
A simple but inaccurate method is this:
 PRINT (256-INP(HFF))*16
CMS returned "2048".

To Sean:
 If you type:

 OUT (255),4

And the machine does NOT crash, it has 64kb. If it did crash, it has more.
Try:

 OUT (255),8

If that didn't crash the machine, it has 128kb.

Another possibility is that the machine doesn't have mappers, in which
case it
 has 64kb ram. Try:

 OUT (255),1

If that didn't crash it, it has 64kb unmapped RAM.
To be honest... all three commands caused CMS to hang up silent.

Leonard told me another method to check MSX memory size. Result suggested
that CMS seems to have mapped 128KB, but showed a little strange behavior
while checking.

More facts on CMS. CMS has not cassette recorder port, so there could had
been no way to store your program, or to save MGear1 data ;) As I said
before, I have no idea how, or if it's possible to use the memory card from
MSX.

In addition, CMS could run Mgear2 cartridge. It's OK as long as you don't
mind getting GM2 or typing lengthy password ^^;

CMS has 8-pin RGB output, which is compatible with A1-GT cable.

Simplest way to check RAM size

2000-12-17 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa
I was trying to write some article on Captain Multi Station MSX2.
I wanted to know whether the RAM size is 64KB or 128KB, since before 1987,
Japanese MSX2s with 128KB were also being released.
However, CMS isn't equipped with disk drive. So I must type something by
myself to check RAM size.
Does anyone know simplest of simple methods to know RAM size?

Tokimeki Knightmare, the Knightmare clone

2000-11-12 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa

Gyonin, who was once a subject of dispute in this mailing list for his
Manesis, recently released another Windoze Konami clone - Tokimeki
Knightmare.
While resembling that Knightmare, Tokimeki Knightmare takes opposite stance;
Aphrodite rescues kidnapped Popolon.
A lot of reference to old Konami MSX1 games, and sarcastic ending where the
couple only finds their castle occupied by Galious. ^^;
The download URL is;

http://www.alles.or.jp/~gyonin/game.htm

Cheats;
Input following passwords in the title screen then press ENTER. Input same
password again to deactivate.
1. FIND : Hidden jewels become visible
2. EASY : Halve damages
3. ZAKURO : Invulenrability, even if crashed by a scrolling obstacle.

Studio Wing is the existing game company recently decided to release their
old MSX2 titles in;

The .lzh files located below "MSX2" character string are the disk images
compressed in .lzh format.

I guess most of you have almost never heard of their titles "Kuro to Shiro

extensive knowledge with Japanese language. But adding them to your

Re: Ultra rare MSX2

2000-09-23 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa

Take a look at this computer auctioned:
OK.
Seems I nearly caught up in last minute, actually, one hour before end of
bidding term.

 http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/19238650

 Translation provided by e-lingo:
MSX2 personal computer with captain made by NTT terminal function
The content is a main body, a keyboard, PAD, and a manual.
Though it is a captain terminal of NTT communications The basis is a
 personal
computer of the MSX2 specification. ROM cartridge can be pierced.
A brief explanation on "captain"..
CAPTAIN is a Japanese information database system which took off in late
1970s, but never acquired success, though Japanese government had British
(and others?) Teletext style service in mind. Around 1995, CAPTAIN project
tried to revive hoping someone will mistake it with Internet (in my opinion)
but miserably died. In 2000, CAPTAIN still exists as one of obsolete
projects.

The picture in Yahoo auction page suggests NMS8250-style heavy body and,
surprisingly "modern"-looking tiny (we Japanese love anything tiny) keyboard
and cool joypad.

MSX magazine preliminary issue (pro bably) ceased publication.

2000-08-23 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa

Now, one year later, we can see that ASCII has really taken steps to stick
to
 this roadmap.

Step 1: the new MSX magazin from ASCII is reality. It exists.
NO.
There's no "MSX magazine" from ASCII. Only publication released so far was
"MSX Magazine Preliminary Issue no. 1", which was edited and distributed by
Imahi of Syntax. Currently, there's no hope of no. 2 issue release (at least
I heard so).

Imahi is currently not planning to pay refund to those who already ordered
no. 2. My honest impression was "I thought so".

??

No. This is Takamichi's mission. :)
Please tell me street address, city, nation, etc, and MOST importantly,
distance to nearest police station so I will be able to estimate how long I
can stay out of bound (from what?) before getting caught.

By the way, ag0ny-san, maybe you don't want to hear this, but when I showed
Tsujikawa translation of your HispaMSX posting to Tsujikawa, he commented
you have certainly overestimated most of the things.
Tsujikawa especially did not like the part you described Ese-PLD project as
part of ASCII plan ("hey, my PLD's got nothing to do with ASCII!").
Nasu has obviously bluffed to Nishi (Nasu is known to claim someone else's -
in this case Tsujikawa's - project as his own) again.
You can forget about the "whichever will be built first will be chosen as
ASCII product" part, therefore.

You need to be very careful against Japanese stories. You probably noticed
Japanese audiences getting rather bored listening to fantasies of ASCII corp
employees (real Japanese never take anyone's word literally) instead of
getting excited. Main reason is that there had been no progress at all since
one year ago despite fancy announces then.

P.S I have red, white, red/white (one you saw; two strips sewn together),
pink and violet fundoshis, so please specify color when you ask me to dance.

After Denyu something.

2000-08-20 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa
Cool YMSsomething and Denyu Land is over.
Since Nishi quitted talking before I arrived, I really don't know what he
was barbling about, but witnesses told me Nishi didn't speak much fun (at
least he did NOT say he'll release real MSX).
I heard Yamashita guy was explaining Intent (sorry, I lied to some people
that the name was "Indent" ^^;), Java-supporting version of Elate, the
OS-running-on-another-OS (but you can also run Intent without other OS)
which owes a lot to technologies of Tao System, the UK corp. Yamashita boy
mentioned, while you can already buy Intent as uptodate Amiga-Linux system,
release detail of Windoze version of Intent is still a mystery at this
point.

Looks someone (I am not going to mention his name but at least he's
Japanese) already owns Intent prototype and is trying to develop MSX
emulator for Intent, such emulator was not disclosed (as I said earlier, I
personally think development is still in very early stage). Given the fact
proper release of Intent from ASCII is still unknown, I cannot predict
whether such "ASCII-official Intent MSX emulator" will be released or not...
that was my impression.
New MSX... nearest thing was Tsujikawa's "hardware-emulated" V9938 which was
plugged in his MSX's cartridges slot. I could play Salamander with it.
Sorry, guys, I couldn't find anything like "homemade MSX3". ^^;

I didn't fail to ask most important question; is ASCII going to release ero
game for Intent? Yamashita initially pretended he did not hear me but I
pushed him so he answered "there is no reason not to". I was relieved. ^^;

As for the other news... I guess a number of chicos now fully acknowledge
why almost all Japanese MSX users know me
(jajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaja)

feeling quite confounded now.

Beside above line, I found a picture showing ag0ny sitting in ASCII account

converse in English (?), and that SaveR was not present as translation (I
imagined to be so but looks ASCII survived being victim to el cabron).

This emulator is already almost finished
No. Obviously Nasu bluffed to ASCII.

and it will be presented on
Den-yu land 2000. It will emulate MSX, MSX2 and MSX2+ as well as a PC
can emulate it. If I understood correctly, from now on they do not worry
about Turbo-R. Once finished, english, spanish and portuguese versions
of the emulator will be developped. And *MAYBE* (I repeat: maybe) MSX
DataPack (+1000 pages) will be translated to these three languages.
Phase 1 status: The emulator will be finished in approximately one
 month.
No. In fact I know who is developing that "ASCII-listed emulator" which is
expected to run on Indent, the rather unknown OS created by ASCII.
Currently, he hasn't even learned Indent sematics.

Also, I personally will be very crossed if he'll try to simply copy fMSX- or
RuMSX (or, though I see few possibility, BrMSX) codes and inform
Marat/Rudolf/Ricardo of cheating.

Photos and a bit of explanations given in the page afford following
information.
1. Name of the game is Erika, released from Jast, once an emminent brand in
ero game industry.
2. Style of the girl picture suggests release date near 1985.
3. Nothing in the package states MSX2. Only "MSX" is notified.

Whatever it might be, the auction is over by now. I personally hardly think
the final biddding price (20250 yen?) is worth paying for MSX1 ero game.
Several MSX1 ero games, which seem "impractical", really were released.

Re: RONA game

2000-07-20 Thread Takamichi Suzukawa

To download the game you are supposed to click on the 3 blue dots
proceding the name of the game. Each dot represents 1 disk in a zip-file
 called: rona1.zip, rona2.zip and rona3.zip.
I know. I already downloaded them.

The link which is supposed to email Daniel Torrado at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
has a typo in the HTML source of the page (the '' behind the email
address
is supposed to be a '"') But should not affect the download of the game.
I didn't seriously wanted to e-mail to 40+ characters long address. I asked
because I wanted to know MSX Data base. What is that ? JAM

Rona seems to run on MSX2. I used to believe Rona was a turboR-only game
but, even MSX-FAN 1994 April issue didn't state so. Human memory is a
fragile thing. ^^;

I also searched for 2-byte kanji codes or raw graphics among the sectors,
but kanjis were not directly inputted in the sectors (in that case - like,
Illusion City disks which contain messages in form of pure S-JIS codes - you
can directly change them using hex editor), and only raw graphics in the
Rona disk A was the title. Therefore quick translation is not possible. But
I'm sure not many wants Rona to be translated since Rona is playable without
being translated.

Rona disk A also contained curious messages among the sectors, obviously
written by the developing crews. Judging from dates notified among such
in-sector articles, Rona really was released in early 1994.

DIXIE, the distributor/developer of RONA seems to have been lost, but its
parent company May-be Soft still exists as brand name, and owns own website
in http://www.teck.co.jp/maybe/ . Management authority moved to another
company Tech Arts, however.
