Hi, No matter where in my code i have a syntax / parse error, my local test server (php 4.0.1, FreeBSD) it reports it as an error on line one, whereas it actually be 281!! When I upload the same script to the live server, it reports the error on the correct line. This is really eating into my development time... I know the simple answer is write big-free code, but I can't understand what else could be wrong. I haven't done any tweaking of the php.ini file, and everything else works fine, and has been for the last six months. Really appreciate any advice / suggestions / places to look. [PHP] Avoiding repost
I have a card system that will ask for the required information, and one hits a 'Send' button to send the card. Funny you should ask - just done it myself: Why you use mysql_result function? This can be done a bit simpler way (and more effective): ?php mysql_connect(db, $user, $password); $result = mysql_query( SELECT eventName FROM $table); while(list($event) = mysql_fetch_row($result)) echo option$event/option\n; ? RE: [PHP] Apache + Oracle + PHP on HPUX
Hi, You can use OpenLink ODBC drivers, and compile PHP/apache --with-iodbc as per the HOWTO at www.iodbc.org. The HOWTO is Linux-based, but the major different will be environment variables. During the install of OpenLink MT drivers a shell script will be automatically created (openlink.sh, openlink.csh) that will set the appropriate variables for you before you try to compile php and apache. Also, this saves you from installing the Oracle client. Just place the iODBC archive in the same directory as the OpenLink MT drivers, and run the install.sh that comes with the OpenLink drivers. This should get your environment fairly well setup. If you require assistance, free support is available at http://www.openlinksw.com/support/suppindx.htm Best regards, Andrew Hill Director of Technology Evangelism OpenLink Software http://www.openlinksw.com Universal Data Access Data Integration Technology Providers -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, July 26, 2001 5:04 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [PHP] Apache + Oracle + PHP on HPUX Hi! [PHP] PHP Constructors
I was reading through the PHP manual and got to the section on constructors. snip class A { function A() { echo I am the constructor of A.br\n; } function B() { echo I am a regular function named B in class A.br\n; echo I am not a constructor in A.br\n; } } class B extends A { function C() { echo I am a regular function.br\n; } } // This will call B() as a constructor. $b = new B; In PHP 3, the function B() in class A will suddenly become a constructor in class B, although it was never intended to be. The rule in PHP 3 is: 'A constructor is a function of the same name as the class.'. PHP 3 does not care if the function is being defined in class B, or if it has been inherited. This is fixed in PHP 4 by modifying the rule to: 'A constructor is a function of the same name as the class it is being defined in.'. Thus in PHP 4, the class B would have no constructor function of its own and the constructor of the base class would have been called, printing 'I am the constructor of A.br'. /snip It says that when a new class B was made, that the class B would have no constructor, because the function B() was in the base class. Instead the class B was supposed to derive it's constructor from class A and output 'I am the constructor of A.br' When I tried this script, this did not happen and the Function B() was called as the constructor of class B, even though the function was in the base class...can anyone help to clear up this matter? thanx -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To contact the list administrators, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[PHP] File Upload Size Limits
I am running PHP 4.0pl1 with Apache 1.3.14 on RedHat Linux 7.1. I am trying to do a file upload from the users PC to my web server. If I do a small file, the transfer goes fine. If I do a large file ( 50 MB), the transfer fails saying either the file was not available for reading or my script just bombs out. I need to be able to have people upload large files. I have changed the setting in php.ini to upload_max_filesize = 100M. Do I also need to change the following entries in php.ini? max_execution_time = 60 memory_limit = 8M Is this an apache limit? Re: [PHP] hosting
I personally use www.phpwebhosting.com and they are OK. I don't think I would put anything mission critical on their servers. Why do I say this? I usually spend all day long with an SSH session open, running VI to edit my site... several times throughout the day, my session will freeze... if I try and view my webpage during this moment, I can't get to it, so I have to assume that their machines freeze for 20-30 seconds several times a day. My SSH session usually terminates during this time as well.. it's very frustrating, but for my personal site, at $9.95 a month for unlimited bandwidth/space/pop accounts, I will put up with it, until I can find a better host with comparable features, and comparable price. - Original Message - From: Jon Yaggie [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, July 26, 2001 8:08 AM Subject: [PHP] hosting I am aware this is a bit off topic but i need advice. i have a client that wants to set up hosting. we need to get him a control panel for administrative use. This isn't so much PHP, but I bet it happens to lots of people. I have a PHP script which sends out an email to confirm that an email address is valid. RE: [PHP] PHP/Cold Fusion questions:
About a year ago I did this with a Cold Fusion page and an ASP page. The ASP page was a navigation menu that I included in a Cold Fusion page that pulled for product information. So, from a web server standpoint, the server will either send a web page through the PHP parsing engine or the Cold Fusion parsing engine, but not both. So, I think the answer is the CF developers will have to completely redo the site in CF. Now, I do remember seeing some sort of CF--PHP converter project over at SoureForge. Can PHP code in CF pages be parsed by PHP server or vise versa- Can CF code in PHP pages be parsed by the CF server? Or will this cause major headaches? The reason I ask is because I will be building a concept site for my client in PHP using a MySQL database. As the concept moves on to production however, I am fairly certain that the developers will use Cold Fusion to implement further dynamic features and site architecture. Also, they will probably want to use Access in conjunction with the CF code. If it were completely up to me, I'd have the whole site done in PHP, but unfortunately, I am not the final decision maker here. So to recap... Will the CF developers be able to use any of my code or will they have to redo the site completely in cold fusion?? [PHP] fopen - warnings
Hello List, this is probably a very stupid question, but I dont know how to solve this little problem: I have a script with which text files (exported access db data sheets) can be uploaded to the mysql tables. It all works fine, but very annoyingly I get warning messages, if the text file is not resident on the server. But I want it in a way that it doesnt have to be on the server...a catch. The php manual says that if the file cannot be opened fopen returns false. All nice and good working, but I get those additional warning messages. Im not sure if it has maybe something to do with the server, but I am not convinced. Ill put the code below. Any suggestions are highly appreciated (I tried die command but it somehow messed up the routine). Re: [PHP] Session - to restrict same user from two logins
an easier way of doing this is to have a database of users with their password in the table and when they log on simply mark them logged using sum boolean variable. this will, cut down time. good luck!. and remeber Have a nice day :) And when would you uncheck the boolean value? In theory, when the session expires, but there's no event being triggered. Only solution would be to check for active sessions periodically, or something like this...
