Well, I used the plugin on Monday successfully, saw there was a plugin update in the LMS Server interface and restarted it. Now it won't load. I haven't updated LMS since last March. I'll poke around to see what I can do. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0
DavidBulluss wrote: > Just checked my settings and by default SPOTTY flac & mp3 are disabled, > pcm ofcourse enabled. > > Regards, David Good but as discussed . You can use flac it's still lossles and the same as PCM and mp3 would only happen when necessary , bitrate limiting invoked or an old slimp3 ( or other player ) that needs mp3. So just leaving the filetypes settings with both flac and mp3 enabled works just fine LMS knows that for example your Touch should have a flac stream ( or pcm if you disabled flac ). LMS automatically picks, the best possible stream to,use given the used players . Flac is prefered over pcm because it conserves bandwidth , good with wifi conected players. If you are cpu bound you can save some cpu cycles at the expense of bandwith with flac disabled . But the result is the same at the player lossles is lossles regardless of codec . The confusion between lossles compression ( flac alac ape etc ) and lossy compression ( ogg mp3 AAC etc ). We can have another tread about that . Short version lossles compresion restores the original PCM when decoded lossy does not information is trown away Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub. Just checked my settings and by default SPOTTY flac & mp3 are disabled, pcm ofcourse enabled. Depends on your system. mp3 requires flac, which isn't part of LMS. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Spotify does *not* stream lossless files (for example, TIDAL does have a lossless streaming service). Spotify streams high bitrate lossy OGG files. LMS then converts the OGG file to something that plays on many different squeezebox players (e.g., FLAC). That's not 100% accurate. The spotty helper (or rather librespot - which the helper is using) transforms the OGG stream to PCM. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0
Adding to that I think there is some confusion with 16bit/44Kbps which is the level at which CD operates. AFAIK Spotify Premium streams at 320kbps Max. Spotty converts the OGG stream to PCM or FLAC but it remains lossy as the original Spotify stream is. *Pi3 with piCoreplayer music on QNAP TS419p via NFS* iThingys/iPeng/Tablets/Jogglers *Living Room* - Joggler & SB3 -> Onkyo TS606 - > Celestion Ditton F20s *Office* - Pi -> Sony TA FE320 -> Celestion F10s / Pi & SB3 -> Onkyo CRN 755 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes *Dining Room* -> SB Boom *Kitchen* -> UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio) *Bedroom (Bedside)* - SB Touch -> Topping TP21 -> AKG Headphones d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107615 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Spotify streams high bitrate lossy OGG files. LMS then converts the OGG file to something that plays on many different squeezebox players (e.g., FLAC). Converting a lossy Spotify stream to PCM doesn't magically turn it into lossless. A FLAC stream is not necessarily lossy. FLAC is a lossless codec, and decodes to the exact same 1411kbs lossless stream before being played. So a FLAC file ripped from the CD (lossless) is still lossless. But it is still just a container. I can convert a lossy mp3 file to FLAC and it is lossy. I can convert a lossy mp3 file to PCM and it is still lossy, as the underlying file is lossy. *Home:* VortexBox 4TB (2.4) > LMS 7.9.1 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.4) > LMS 7.9.1 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win8(64) > LMS 7.9.1 > Squeezelite *Spares:* Transporter, Touch(3), Radio(3), Boom, SB3, CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone6 & iPadAir2 (iPeng & Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107615 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0
Well, that turned out to be easy. Used a different computer from where LMS is running, to not clutter it up with stuff I probably won't use for anything else than compile Spotty... It compiled the first time, without errors on FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-p1. Nice! Copied the compiled spotty to: /var/db/logitechmediaserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Spotty/Bin > chown slimserv:slimserv spotty > chmod 755 spotty and it worked. I'd suggest you move it as spotty-custom to some place outside the LMS installation, but within the search path. That way it shouldn't be overwritten accidentally. And spotty-custom would be looked for first. Not sure how I can tell what version of spotty this is (no -v option), spotty --name yadda --check (--name is compulsory - shouldn't be for this case, but oh well...) I've attached the compiled spotty for other people to use. Would you be willing to take "ownership" of a FreeBSD build? It would really be easy to do a plugin which would allow interested users to easily install the helper for your platform. I could send you a skeleton plugin file. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Mixcloud on Boom (and Squeezplay)
The error "Problem:Unable to play file type..." usually means the audio format you have selected cannot played natively on the device e.g AAC on Boom or 96Khz on Boom. I tried changing a few settings in the "advanced" "File Types" menu, but am a bit lost. Can someone explain exactly what must be changed to enable the full 1411kbs stream? You'll get the "full stream" anyway, whether it's flac or PCM. The difference in processing berween a DASH/Flac and DASH/AAC is very small and is common for initial communications . What bit rate is being shown for the Radio 3 stream ? What is the value of "Seconds to delay start live stream" - can you try no delay as squeezelite can play aac and flac native. A Flac stream should be played native by Squeezelite so squeezelite logs and LMS logs can be helpful. For example, one user had a problem with a Hifiberry DAC recent driver not supporting 48kHz but this would affect all BBC stream unless your squeezelite does not support native aac. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
It seems there is a bug with the latest version of Ipeng. Since the recent upgrade to 9.3.1, I've been unable to launch the app - it crashes immediately after the splash screen. I've tried to reboot my phone, and reinstall the app, but the problem persists. Hardware: Iphone 5S, IOS version 9.2.1 Magnar.
