Aah, in the taskbar of windows! Now I got it.

Shortcut to Seamonkey.exe -safe-mode
That's 15 seconds and not quite as much as creating a new profile.

I did and I could not get the bug to re-occur in normal or safe modes, with
and without attachments, although it always did it up until today.
Praps it's healed-up. :o?

I have had a copy of SM on my pc, since it was Netscape and I have spent a
lot of time modifying it and shoehorning in extensions and themes to make
it behave like Firefox/Thunderbird.
It's a bit like having a Ferrari in the garage, but out the back be working

nearly get there, a new Ferrari model comes out?

If this is the size after compacting all folders (right-click on a

drive with the "documents and settings-directory" where the new profile
will be by default.
I'd suggest to move non-standard-folders (the ones which are not inbox,

or
drastically detach big attachments from the mails and compact the

My understanding is that the mail files themselves are not changed by

Well, I just tried it and it worked. I sent an e-mail with a subject
of "Foo", then I sent a second e-mail with a subject of "Re: Foo", but
not actually a reply to the first mail - a completely separate e-mail
message. SM threaded the two together (assuming I have the mail box
configured for threading view).

I verified that the second e-mail didn't have a References header (as
expected - since I didn't create it using a Reply To action).

So ... it seems to *also* thread using the subject line.

FYI (for what it's worth).

The "follow-up" thing isn't really a Seamonkey issue, it's more a case
of how people post on usenet. I really don't like the follow-up flag
(even with cross-posting), as I expect to see the initial post and any
replies in the same newsgroup.

Everything that ultimately needs some kind of work done is a "bug" in

One simple thing I could think of would be to make any Followup-To lines
bold (i.e. not only the label but also the value). For the time being
that should already be possible through the use of custom CSS, to be
applied with e.g. Stylish.

I'd say so, yes. I'm pretty sure the contents of mail files are not
checked but maybe their presence. Thus a possible workaround would be to
move all mail files to somewhere else on the same drive (such move
operations are very fast and efficient), create empty files of the same
names in the original location, migrate, and finally overwrite the
migrated files in the new location with the backups.

[2.0rc - linux] java plugin on 64bit

2009-10-21 Thread NoOp
No reply on mozilla.dev.apps.seamonkey, so I'll try here.

I've been attempting to assist (remotely) an associate w/2.0rc2 on a
64bit Unbuntu Karmic (9.10 beta) KDE machine. SeaMonkey has been
installed into the user's home (/home//seamonkey) and all
seems to work with the exception of java. Java does not get recognized
in 'about:plugins' & this is starting to sound like:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435334
[[3.1a1pre] Java plugin is not recognized.]

Note: I only have 32bit machines & have no issues w/my systems. All of
my SeaMonkey(s) are installed in my home folder as well.

I had him follow the instructions at:
http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/linux-amd64.html#java-sun
(Karmic uses 1.6.0_15 right now).

Ensured that he created a ~/.mozilla/plugins folder. Triple checked his
symlinks to /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so. He also
installed 1.6.0_16 directly & tried a symlink to
/usr/local/jre1.6.0_16/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so. Of course I had him remove
the other symlink prior to trying the 1.6.0_16. Neither one works. They
_do_ work w/Fx.

Any suggestions?

One other thing of interest; when SeaMonkey is first installed
about:plugins (no ~/.mozilla/plugins created yet) shows:

Default Plugin
VLC Mujltimedia Plugin (compatible Totem 2.28.10
Windows Media Player Plug-in 10 (compatible; Totem)
DivX Web Player
QuickTime Plug-in 7.2.0
Shockwave Flash

The default (Ubuntu'ized) Fx shows:
VLC Mujltimedia Plugin (compatible Totem 2.28.10
Windows Media Player Plug-in 10 (compatible; Totem)
DivX Web Player
QuickTime Plug-in 7.2.0
Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_15
Shockwave Flash

SM is picking up the initial plugins from those that have been installed
for Fx from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. Why? I've tested by placing a
symlink to my java in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin.so & SM
(32bit) picks that up just fine. My about:plugins (32bit) then show:

VLC Mujltimedia Plugin (compatible Totem 2.28.10
Windows Media Player Plug-in 10 (compatible; Totem)
DivX Web Player
QuickTime Plug-in 7.2.0
Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_15
Shockwave Flash

I'm just curious as to why & why ~/.mozilla/plugins wouldn't be the default.

each time a new update is installed I've had 2 installed for several

I've seen a bug reported for a similar problem, but with prompt for
offline status on startup option. I wonder what is causing the prompt
for the Master Password on the first restart after the update. (You
don't need to enter a Master Password the first time because the update
causes two restarts.)

I have master password set to be required at open.

Re: Annoying behavior, bugs seen with SM 2.0 RC1 -- looking for feedback, info

If you have a patch and can get reviews as well as check it in last
week, then we can do it, else you have to live with it at least for 2.0
and hope someone will come up with a fix for 2.0.1 - right now I'm not
even sure if a bug report is there yet, let alone a cause or patch.

Then I'll have to figure out how to add items in SM 1 since I downloaded
SM 2

Not sure what you mean with that...

Robert Kaiser
On the second part when I first downloaded SM and opened I had it to
import everything from SM.1.1.8. I still use SM 1.1.8 while waiting for
quote Colors to be updated. My favorite Theme SkyPilot has already made
it over. What I want to do is update all the items that have changed in
SM 1.1.8 since I have imported the settings. I wish you could just hit
import setting again and it would update. I have a few items in email
in SM 2 I don't want to lose. I'd like everything added.

Re: SeaMonkey/Thunderbird & Snow Leopard Fonts

Have you tried SeaMonkey 2.0 RC 2 there? Should work much better on
modern systems than 1.1.x :)

Robert kaiser

I've had the same annoying font behaviour using SeaMonkey 1.1.8 and have spent hours
troubleshooting. I logged in as a Guest User and everything tested perfectly, no anomalies in any
of the web pages visited as a 'guest'

Thus I'm fairly certain the problem was not in the Snow Leopard System Preferences but within
SeaMonkey preferences that corrupted/changed when SL was installed. I've decided to wait till Apple
releases 10.6.2 update and if that doesn't correct the font issue I'll do a clean install of SeaMonkey.

I noticed a design flaw? If the e-mail uses the same titles, it seems to
organize into that same thread even though they are not the same, just
the same titles.

E-mail doesn't have the References header, so I'm pretty sure it must
thread via the subject header.

Ah thanks.
