won't call during migration, they do respond and the bigger guys appear to know

We have a young (SY) eastern White-crowned Sparrow at the feeder this morning.

occasional
influx of a few Yellow Palms (Eastern). In spring, the Yellow form is much more
rare
with very few banded/reported over the last 25 years.

We banded our first true migrant, a young Blackpoll, on 01 Sep. Seems very

Enjoying birds and spring ephemerals in The Gulf (Cayuta Lake outlet), we
heard

Had a mix of COMMON REDPOLLS, PINE SISKIN, and RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES all
together
at our feeders yesterday. Plenty of activity as the snow fell. No Grosbeaks
yet, but
we're open for business.

saw-whets. Overall the saw-whet migration was astounding with record numbers
banded
throughout Canada and the US, some traveling as far south as Alabama and
Georgia.
