Re: [Cin] Proxy error (optimal settings)

2019-04-12 Thread Igor BEGHETTO

GG/Phyllis, thanks for the ub16 built.
1) I downloaded the ot7nz.mp4 file from "streamable.com" and I checked
this file with ffprobe command. FFprobe says to me: 61fps 3601kbps
1280x720. So, I think, streamable changes your video compression format
even if I saw Sam's video with others parameters for the same video. Booh!
2) However I loaded ot7nz.mp4 video in Cinelerra-gg and I have got the
same issue like Sam, also with .mov and .mpeg. If I change the bitrate
of the file in Media (and in Settings-Format) from 61 to 60 then it works.

Could you give me the original video file 120fps.mp4 uploading it to
datafilehost or other, please?
@Sam: your video source was to 120 fps but what is the Project's format?
Thanks.

GG/Phyllis quotes: Do either of you have a suggestion for a workaround
in Proxy to be able to use a different fps? Something else "Override
frame rate?"

For me is better don't touch it. It help to undestand if rendering will
have any problem.

Usually, the professional mode is ...
1) to convert the source video with a external program, like Eyeframe
(unfortunately only for Windows program) or ffmpeg, to a friendy fps
(and change GOP, GroupOfPictures).
2) "to convert" the fps inside Cinelerra-gg, like I have done with your
61 fps video: in Resources->Media, select the video, RMB on that video,
choose "Info" option and change video's framerate.

In a old post/thread/issue (I don't remember) I had written that would
be useful to have in Media, near the name of the video/audio some fields
with the informations: fps, size, (codec?). It would be useful because
you could see the info without open another window (Info window) for
every file. I understand that it is not easy to implement that feature.

Ugin, if you want there is an alternative, without rendering.
Take a look at:
https://streamable.com/ohuof
So it can be more flexible to change the frequency when you want, if you
needed.
Audio1 is the master and it is shared with Audio2. Then you can change
only the seetings of the effect on Audio1; Audio2 effect is "child" of
Audio1.

[Cin] Insert a video without audio between two edits

2019-04-18 Thread Igor BEGHETTO
When I have to insert a video without audio, between two edits in
Timeline, the audio on the right side does not shift to the right even
if the audio track is Armed. I think it would be useful if the audio was
moved to the right for the length of the inserted video. Of course, if
the audio track is DisArmed, it will not occur.
Now, I use a little trick to re-align the video with the audio correctly
after the new edit is inserted.

[Cin] User Folders/Bins and Delete key

2019-04-18 Thread Igor BEGHETTO
User Folders/Bins is very useful/powerful but sometimes I delete a
thumbnail/item from my userBin (not with "Modify folder" window) and so
it is also removed from the Media and from the project.
I know that there is the undo function and in CinelerraGG_manual.pdf it
is described very well how to delete a file by User Folder in the
"Modify folder" window.
I think it would be useful, if possible, to be able to remove the media
in UserFolder directly in the right side of the Resources window, but
without removing it from the Media and from the project (and of course
updating the "Modify target" list of the media in "Modify folder"). It
would be more natural from a user's point of view.

Same thing for the UserClips.

Thanks Phyllis for all your reply (also in Mantis-BT).

Changing thinking strategy and only for the User Folders/Bins, is it
possible to block media deletion (avoid deleting) from the right side of

must to go in "Modify folder" window, following the procedure in the

If it is possible by code and you, and other users, agree with me.

If X11-OpenGL Video Driver (in Preferences> Playback_A> VideoOut) is

plugin works).
More, doing some tests a crash with dump is occurred. Maybe (surely) it
do not depend by Gradient plugin.

I added a compressed dump file.

The Color window opened with “Inner color” or “Outer color” has not the
OK and Cancel buttons on the bottom corners. Other plugins like Titler

May be that the window’s height is too little? Thanks.

Re: [Cin] Observations using GPU on DNxHD and MPEG proxy while running CinelerraGG

2019-05-16 Thread Igor BEGHETTO

Pierre, your video card is good, for me.
It has 640 CUDA CORES. Unfortuantely only ffmpeg-nvenc use cuda core and
not for all codec, seems to me.
If you use Blender (http://www.blender.org/) and enable
ComputeDevice=YourGTX you can see that cuda cores save a lot of your
time to render a 3Dmodel/scene and your cpu% is low.

I started looking at what could be bought, which would not be too

I also don't know if Nvidia video cards or AMD cards would be the most

Here are the models I'm considering right now:

- Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB, 256-Bit GDDR5, Bandwidth 256 GB/s
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti (6GB, 192-Bit GDDR6, Bandwidth 288 GB/s
- AMD Radeon RX 580 (8GB, 256-Bit GDDR5, Bandwidth 256 GB/s

Yes, there are a few libva related libraries that have to be installed
and libva-x11 is one of them. They are listed here:
https://packages.ubuntu.com/source/xenial/libva

Thank you so much. It is very helpful to me.
Before you wrote this mail I copied from the Notebook, where cin20190430
works fine, the DEB file I find in "/var/cache/apt/archives/ and
installed manually with "sudo dpkg -i DEB_PACKAGE_NAME".
The problem is the right sequences of the dependencies installations. I
started from "libvdpau-dev" and "gstreamer1.0-vaapi-1.8.3". Then with
Synaptic I see if there are broken files. Consider that my knowledge in
Linux is zero, unfortuately. AND I don't know if my procedure is right.
I see here in mailing-lists that many user, if not all, "chew" Linux
very well.

Do you mean that libva-x11 is missing? If so, see the entire related
list at the last URL to see all of the packages that are needed.
In my Desktop system there is "libva-x11", or better I see it in folder
"/usr/lib/x86_64linux-gnu/ ". May be it is not update, or not compatible
with vaapi.

You can do a "GIT" for any previous version. How to do this is
outlined in section 2.1.3 (create an initial clone) and 2.1.4 (build
from a previous GIT version). If you have questions about that, just ask.
I mean to build the last release without vaapi or vdpau. And yes, I have
read that section, thank you.
I know I am wasting your time with these things, and them are due at my
poor knowledge to Linux system.

Thank you.

[Cin] Buttons for Mask tool window

2019-07-13 Thread Igor BEGHETTO

Mainly for GG (... but also for the others)

I added a file compressed and an animated GIF (photomontage with the
buttons) to show the layout or an idea of layout.

In the compressed file You find:
1) the "6" buttons for Mask Linear and Smooth, for each theme. They are
always the first version I have done with the blue line in smooth
buttons (due at my time).
Sorry Olaf, I did not find your SVG files in Cakewalk theme to derivate
the new buttons from your original buttons, but the buttons I have done
have the right colour.

For the SUV theme You find the "3" buttons for the Scale features. Why
are there six PNGs instead of five?

And, as first version and testing, You find the Presets (7 btns) and
Positions (2 btns) buttons for only SUV theme.
I hope that these buttons work like Mask Linear/Smooth buttons: every
button use 4 icons, with three common icons ("mask_button_dn.png",
"mask_button_hi.png", "mask_button_up.png").

If You (GG) think different, let me know, please.
Sorry Sam, I have changed again a few of them. After some test with SUV
theme we (all) can decide, I think.

@GG and @Olaf
More, I noticed two things about Neophyte and Cakewalk themes:
A) Neophyte theme >> neophyte.C
- code line 361 ("reset_dn.png") inverted with line 362 ("reset_hi.png")
It should be:
/* ** */
new_button("reset.png",
"reset_up.png",
"reset_hi.png",
"reset_dn.png",
"reset_button");
/* ** */
The PNGs files in theme_neophyte/data/PNGs are right but they are an old
version.
You can find the new PNGs files for reset button, in the compressed
file, with the others mask buttons.

(If/When Olaf wants he can update with one of his version)

B) Cakewalk theme >> cakewalk.C
- code line 272 ("reset_dn.png") inverted with line 273 ("reset_hi.png")
I think, the codes should be (for consistency with the others
codes/themes) like in point A, and in theme_cakewalk/data/ the two PNGs
files have to be renamed: you have to swap the two names "reset_dn.png"
with "reset_hi.png".

Thank you so much!
I go to drink something. (too many buttons) ;-)

Re: [Cin] Buttons for Mask tool window

2019-07-14 Thread Igor BEGHETTO

Thank you GG for the ub16 build you have done for me.

Unfortunately the Scale mode buttons do not work anymore as designed.
I have tested by myself, after 2 hours of Cin compiling on my poor
computer, and it works right.
I understand you have changed the background to use them in all the
themes but it doesn't work.
For me they have to work like checkbox button otherwise I have not the
checkedHighlight function.
Of course, if/when you restore the Scale buttons like I designed, then I
will create the other Scale buttons for all the themes.

Also, could you look at the the code in "neophyte.C" about reset button,
please? Now the reset button doesn't work right.

The right sequences should be:
new_button("reset.png",
"reset_up.png",
"reset_hi.png",
"reset_dn.png",
"reset_button");

Thank you so much!

You want to save me from some PNGs. Okay, good idea! And thank you.
Then, 10 PNGs for each theme instead of 18 PNGs, and 3 common PNGs for
all the themes.

Very good, I think.
I just finished the new Scale PNGs only for SUV theme. I added the
compressed file. When/if you have time to try. Thanks!

@GG
Thanks for the new Cin build (20190715). I saw you have done a lot of
work, thanks.
Sorry if yesterday I did not thank you about all the works you are doing
but, among photomontages (PNGs, animated GIF) and new Cin build, I don't
understand what is true (software) or false (photomontage).
In Cin-20190715 build I see you changed the code for the reset button
(Clear) in Neophyte and Cakewalk themes but in
"plugins/theme_cakewalk/data/" is needed to swap the names of the two
PNGs files: “reset_dn.png” and “reset_hi.png”.
Finally, you are too fast, I need more time to create the buttons of all
the themes: every theme has its own colours.

@Olaf
Sorry Olaf, I think you will have update your master files. I hope it is
good for you too.

@Sam
About radio buttons and checkbox buttons in "Select", "Enable", "Presets

closest one to each other), but with right alignment.

[Cin] Jump and Insert a Auto keyframe by Overlay window

2019-08-14 Thread Igor BEGHETTO
To jump among keyframes we have the buttons in Main window and the
shortcuts, but we can not jump among Autos keyframes.
If possible, I would like to suggest something like in my photomontage
added.
I inserted three little buttons for each Auto: one for jump backward to
the next Auto, one for create a new Auto in cursor position and the last
one for jump forward to the next Auto.
That would only work on Armed tracks, of course: if I press on "create a
new Auto in cursor position" where a Auto keyframe exist, that Auto
keyframe is deleted (toggle); and the jump features would work only for
the Armed tracks, and for its specific Autos like Create (Delete) a new
Auto.

[Cin] Imported sequences in Master Project and the Viewer

2019-09-14 Thread Igor BEGHETTO
Full title: From the Viewer to the Timeline with the sequences imported
in a Master Project.

I write here because I think it is not a bug, but may be it is important
to add it in the Manual.

I would like to know yours opinion/possibility.

Consider you have:
- a subproject with more video and audio tracks, and on the tracks there
are clips, autos, effects and keyframes.

- a Master Project with clips, autos, effect and keyframes.

1) In the Master Project, import the subproject (sequence) with
"Insertion strategy= Create new resources only". You can see the
subproject (sequence) in Resources->Clips (and its full name is the
absolute path).

2) Drag and Drop the sequence from Clips to the Viewer.
3) Set In and Out Point in the Viewer and, in the Timeline, move the
cursor position at the end of the tracks (for this example).

4) Click on "Splice (v)" button in the Viewer.
You can see the complete Sequence (autos, effects, keyframes) in the
Timeline.

5) In the Timeline, move the cursor position at the end of the tracks again.
6) This time, click on "Overwrite (b)" button in the Viewer.
You can see the Sequence in the Timeline, but without its autos, effects
and keyframe. If in the Timeline there were some autos/effects/keyframe,
before of the Overwrite operation from the Viewer, they will still be there.

This behaviour occur also with "to Clip" feature, used from Timeline and
following the steps from point#2.

Note_1:
Remember that if you want put the sequence correctly (with all its
tracks) in the Master Project you must have the same, or more, number of
tracks that there are in the original sequence (the original subproject).

About Note_1,
I don't know if it is possible to implement by code, but could
cinelerra open a little window with an alert if the tracks in the Master
Project are less than the tracks in the sequence?
The alert could say something like: "The sequence/clip needs more
video track(s) and more audio track(s) in the Timeline otherwise the
sequence will be incomplete. Do you want to continue? ".

Where:
= number of video tracks to add
= number of audio tracks to add

Thanks.

Re: [Cin] Nested clip and proxy

2019-09-17 Thread Igor BEGHETTO

BUT I have yet to understand IgorB's feedback on proxy with nesting
Phyllis, surely my terms (folder, path) was wrong there, sorry. I
rewrite here again.
Usually proxy files of the media (videos, images) are created in the
directory where the media are.
But the proxy files of the Nested Clips are created in Cinelerra-5.1
directory.

I hope it clearer now.

You would copy the 60 seconds in a clip, nest the clip in the Clip
folder of the Resources window and drag it to the timeline. You will
see only a clean clip without all of the edits that were used to
create it because nesting performs a render without having to actually
use the Render menu. Now you can add a Reverse effect, Color3way
plugin for black and white, and use the Speed auto to get the 60
seconds down to only 10 seconds.
Mmh, in the sentence "... it because nesting performs a *render* without
having to actually use the Render menu..." I don't like the *render*
word because it sound to me like if it create an output rendering, but
it is not so. It is like a clip.

A band with colour a bit lighter respect to black background (for

There are two PNGs for every shapes: Tr-0540 and Tr-1080.

some things). So, if you want, I could give them to you, as well as I

The resolution of my videos is 1280x768. I know that it would be better
almost FHD (1920x1080) for people like you (all) that have UHD screen

I think my demos are really ugly for the format and the kind of

maybe it is better?

Yes it is resampled, but by my tests on my poor PC, 540 works faster

for a 29.97 fps project, the MIN fps achieved with "Tr-1080_Butterfly"

2020-01-12 Thread Igor BEGHETTO

Thanks Phyllis and GG.
For the Nesting and Open_EDLI I will wait for a consolidate version. It
is very time consuming to learn a workflow and then to change it again.
Every time GG make a change in software it is a great time consuming
also for who have to update the Manual, I think. Same think for who have
(would like) to do a video tutorial.

I like cinelerra-gg but I am not a fun of the rolling release.
I would like a release where users have more time to test in depth;
usually this pre-release is called candidate release (all of you know).
So the Manual, and the video tutorial, has a few of time to reflect the
software.
Of course, even though a "stable" release is out, there would always be
the rolling release (month release).

I am still trying to find the icons you supplied awhile back that
replace the hand drawn ones used in the Load files menu. At the time
I was too far behind, but now I would like to see if gg can use them.

Okay. I added a "tar.gz" file for that.

Settings->Preferences, Interface tab, "Nested Proxy Path". The old
methodology of placing the nested files in the cinelerra directory
(folder) was an unintended accident and leads to it being easily
deleted every month when downloading a new build. As expected, fixing
this bug means you should now be able to save a project while proxied!

Proxies are created in Cinelerra folder (where there is "cin"
file)

This is a BUG ! (by Cinelerra folder, this means the Linux O/S
cinelerra directory where the binary file is). It should be in
the same directory as the original media and not here because it
will not get easily deleted.

Before saving your project, pay attention to disable Proxy
feature.
You MUST SAVE your PROJECT with PROXY DISABLED otherwise you
lose the
link to the clips (more or less).

I just bet that this is related to the above BUG and I have
informed gg and when the bug is fixed will check to see if this
solves this problem also. Losing link to the clips is only
referring to nested clips, not regular clips as far as I can tell.

Re: [Cin] 3 request

2020-01-03 Thread Igor BEGHETTO
I add here, and long time ago I wrote in CinCV_MailingLists (September
10, 2018).
It is not relative to how an User create User Bins/Folders inside
Cinelerra's Resources but how you organize/manage your directories, with
your media, for the Project.

Quote:
I would like something like below (but I have already written it, sorry):
/*  */
(Structure in /home/Projects/)
\_Folder_Proj_01
   - File_abc_cinPrj.xml
   \_Video
   \_Sound
   \_Images
   \_ ...
/*  */
In "Scribus" (publishing software) I work so. "Scribus" does relative
path if the files are in the same directory or in its subdirectory, else
absolute path.

I don't like "flat" structure for my projects. When I have move a
Project to another Computer to create the final Render on that faster
computer, for example, I have to edit the xml file project and with
"Search and replace" option, I change the path of the User Name
directory. So I can use the same structure of the directories/folders of
my project on an other PC.

3) Use Nest option (if needed)
4) Drag and Drop (or Double click) from Resources to Viewer.
5) First quick cut with In and Out on the Viewer
6) Splice(V) or Overwrite(B) by the Viewer
7) Repeat from #4 point for the Clips/Media/Nested

Thanks, Phyllis, for your tireless work on documenting/testing all those
features, and GG for implementing them!

With the latest checkin, you can now edit EDL that is included with your
project as Clips, Nested Clips, or Xml. For example, if you have a nested
clip that originally had several plugins added to it before it was nested,
you can edit those plugin parameter values. Previously to make any changes
to these EDL clips/nested clips, you had to remake the whole clip from
scratch. This is done via "Open EDL" and button click as described below
by the .

In addition a couple of modifications related to this are noticeable to
include the following:
   - in the Clip folder, when you Nest a clip, the wording which was "Nest"
is now "Nest to Media"
   - in the Clip folder, when you actually perform "Nest to Media", the
nested clip is only displayed in the Media folder

for example:
1) load some test media, mode replace project
2) highlight a selection and press create clip. add notes and press ok.
clip is created
3) in resources window, open the clip folder. clip1 is present
4) select clip1 and right mouse the item. select menu item Open EDL
5) timeline changes to just the clip content.
6) add a visible effect, like burning tv and press the [1] in the main menu
bar.
7) timeline is restored to original media.
8) drag the clip from the resources folder to the timeline. The effect is
visible.

 - in the Clip folder, there is a new option to "Open EDL" for the
highlighted clip. When you choose this option, the clip will be brought up
on the timeline. *VERY IMPORTANT to note*, the previous timeline EDL is
"pushed onto a stack" (this is programmer talk) so it is remembered and to
get back to that you have to "pop the stack" (more programmer talk) by
clicking on the button in the upper right hand corner of the timeline above
where the Proxy switch button would be. Usually this button will read 1 if
you choose "Open EDL" and then 0 when back to your original timeline. You
can go several levels deep so instead of 1, it could be 2, 3, ... but I got
to tell you that you can get lost if you overdo it. Once the clip is open
on the timeline, you can edit it however you want.

   - in the Media folder, once you have nested a clip, the Nested clip will
be located here
   - in the Media folder, the option to unnest the clip is now called "EDL
to clip" which results in the nested clip being reverted to a clip and back
into the clip folder with only a name of "Clip #". The nested clip is also
still in the Media folder.
   - in the Media folder, you now have the new option to "Open EDL" as
described for clips above. But in this case when you Open EDL and edit the
changes, those changes will take affect on any and all occurrences of that
nested clip on the timeline.

I will make a demo later. There are Debian 9/10 static tars that contain
this and other mods in the Download / Documentation / File Storage at
cinelerra-gg.org. Would be happy to make static tars for any other usual
distro/version if you would like to test early.

Rotating and Scaling will be worked on (but not tomorrow on Christmas

as an attempt to port Mask presets was a totally different design.
Decision was made to not add shapes because to make a

In UbuntuStudio16.04 it works right. Tooltip is showed when the mouse
pointer is over, and the keyframes work when the "automatic keyframes"
icon is enabled in Program window.

I don't remember where and who but somebody have reported that issue.

Yes, preobraz/ugin reported this BUT we are confused and do not see
the problem. Can anyone show how it used to work versus how it now
works incorrectly?
In Timeline, RMB on an edit, choose "Bar Color..." option and near the X
(cancel) icon should be there the Default button.

Picture added to show, before and after.

Yes, Dbl means Double. The reason it is Double and not Fine is
because it is a Double line -- some people will not like that even
though it looks better to me, instead of 1 pixel width, it is 2.
Ooh, Okay. I thought it were a kind of reFinement in the antialiasing
algorithm (and maybe it is).

Thanks for change to "Anti-Aliasing" in the tooltip.

Re: [Cin] New feature. Is it real?

I propose to consider the concept of new functionality. To improve the
usability, it is useful to have constant access to all project
resources in the viewing window. You can implement this using the tabs.
Example: https://pic4a.ru/912/qba.gif

Sorry, Ugin, I don't like your idea.
I think that "Inter-View Mode" is really useful for that.
Do you know the "InterView Mode" features?
You can find it in the CinelerraGG_manual (April 2019) 6.6 section,
https://cinelerra-gg.org/download/CinelerraGG_manual.pdf
or in the CinelerraGG_manual_WorkInProgress (November 2019) 5.6 section,
https://cinelerra-gg.org/download/CinelerraGG_manual_WIP.pdf

There were some sceencasts to show you, made by Phyllis and Sam (I
think), but I don't remember where they are.

And in the CinelerraGG_manual_WorkInProgress (well done) in 5.7.8

https://cinelerra-gg.org/download/CinelerraGG_manual_WIP.pdf

Yes, if you update one, or more Sequences, the Master Project is not
update with the last changes that you had done on them, but you can
re-load the updated Sequences and overwrite them in the Timeline if you
work with method. (And I use, or better, I used also Proxy with Nested)

I am speaking about, before the last changes; I only saw the Phyllis' Demo.

One of the greatest strengths of commercial NLEs is the ability to
work with multiple timelines.

Why work with multiple timelines?

A movie project can be divided into several sections such as intro,
main part 1, main part 2 and credits.

From this I make four timelines called Intro, Part 1, Part 2, Credits.

This splits the whole movie project into four parts and allows faster
working in the main window, because not the whole movie project is
loaded in the main window, but only a quarter of the movie. This
speeds up the work a lot and allows other contributors to work on
different parts of a film project and finally add them together and
make an overall coordination.

When the intro, main part 1, main part 2 and the credits are
finished, these timelines are joined together to form an overall
timeline.

A new timeline called Composition is created and Timeline Intro,
Timeline Part 1, Timeline Part 2 and Timeline Credits are dragged
into it.

Basically this feature is an extension of the EDL feature.

I created the photomontage very fast and therefore they have a lot of
potential for improvement. The final solution can of course look
completely different, the pictures only serve to illustrate my idea.

[Cin] Shortcuts

2020-03-07 Thread Igor BEGHETTO

Hi!

*IMPORTANT: the shortcut for “Delete last track” has been changed*
from the lower case letter “d”
to Ctrl-Shift-D. Having just “d” was somewhat dangerous per Dan
(Quinton?) because off screen.
A “format” option button for ffmpeg in the Render menu shows up when
you click on the Video
wrench icon. This provides a few more tuning operators for the render
for choices like mp4.
I think that the shorcuts are useful for the most/frequently used
operation/action. Cinelerra have some shortcuts where, I think, you can
do without them: for example in File Menu there are "BD Render..."
(Ctrl+D) and "DVD Render" (Alt+D).
I think it would be better to assign Ctrl+D shortcut for "Delete last
track" instead of Ctrl+Shif+D.
So, more intuitive, you have Shift+D to "Delete First track", and Ctrl+D
to "Delete Last track": Shift is the key up (then first), and Ctrl is
the key down (then last) in the keyboard.

About "shortcut for going trough *Autos* keyframes" thread.

About Shortcuts in general.
I understand you (Phyllis), and I know that it is not easy to
change the
consolidate Shortcuts used from old cinelerra's users but it would be
good if CinelerraGG would use some shortcuts like others NLE (Adobe
Premiere, Lightworks, Kdenlive. Sam and Olaf know for AVID and
DaVinciResolve, I think). "J-K-L" for
PlayBackward-Stop-PlayForward, "i"
& "o" for InPoint and OutPoint are standard shortcut. So, new users
would
be incentivated to change (or less) their NLE.
Another example may be, navigate between Labels (Ctrl) or Keyframes
(Shift) or Edits (Alt) with the LeftArrow and RightArrow because
it is
more intuitive, I think.
If you want I can do a lists for my preferences shortcuts but you
already know. ;-)
Thanks.

Very excited about Cinelerra, today I wanted to make a silent short

I made a very meticulous desktop recording, with the goal that without
saying a word, anyone can understand a simple process, such as
changing the speed to a clip. I know this is as easy for you as
scratching a ear. But for people who start they need someone to teach
them. It is a question that several readers have asked me.

As usual, in me, create a new project, and as is also usual for me
when loading the files, I forgot to put the selector in "Create new
resources only" I had it in "Replace current project" and when loading
the 3 clips that I wanted to use for this video, this they have been
loaded on three different tracks.

Nothing happens, I pressed z and started again. I have uploaded the
files, selecting the correct option.

I made the montage when it was almost finished, after adjusting a
clip, Cinelerra has blocked, it did not respond. I had not saved the
job, and I had to close Cinelerra, kill the application from the
system monitor.

When I reopened Cinelerra I went quickly to file, load backup, and
well, there was my project, more or less as I had it before the crash.

So far so good... from here very bad

I hastened to save in case the lock happened again... and here comes
the catastrophe... when pressing s, no wizard was opened to save... I
was surprised, I did not remember saving... I look in the timeline
window bar and I freeze, this bad joke had already happened to me the
first days in Cinelerra. There it said "Cinelerra:
speedChange-2020-04-20_20.25.34.webm"

For the second time Cinelerra has converted a video into an xml file.

All my work thrown away, my lost time ...

I have pondered, and I have thought, I am currently recommending an
application that can make a user lose a video that is important to
him. Because of an application that still carries defects that were
very common in the late 90s, but that are inconceivable in the middle
of 2020.

Then all my illusion has turned into disappointment. I cannot
recommend or spend time with an editor who can make you lose a video
in such an absurd way. It is true that in my case, it was not an
important video. But what if it had been...? I am not a computer
scientist nor are I proficient with Photorec ... I am only an
audiovisual technician.

So after thinking it over and seeing the great risk of working with
Cinelerra, for the moment I take a break. If GG ever decides to fix
this, please let me know, maybe I'll regain the lost illusion and keep
writing tutorials.

So sorry. I have already deleted myself from the youtube channel and I
am going to send the latest corrections of the Spanish translation to
Phyllis and take a break.

Thank you very much for your good predisposition and for your kindness

Re: [Cin] Creating subtitles .srt

2020-03-10 Thread Igor BEGHETTO

Hi Andrea,
sorry for the late.
To create the ".srt" file I use Kitone SubTitleEditor like Haldun.

Re: [Cin] Subtitles view.

2020-06-30 Thread Igor BEGHETTO

To convert .udvd to .srt or .ass is as simple as:
ffmpeg -i subtitle.udvd subtitle.srt
or
ffmpeg -i subtitle.udvd subtitle.ass
without any problem.

Thanks RafaMar! That is useful for me. I will wrote on my Notes.

What I think needs to be improved is the wizard to load or save to
navigate to where the file is to load or save... it is a bit tedious
to have to enter the path by hand. I know this is a copy and paste of
the address, but this for a beginning person is a difficulty.

I agree. If possible, it would be better to have.
Thanks!

Re: [Cin] New monthly pkgs and tars available on the website

2020-07-08 Thread Igor BEGHETTO

Thanks Phyllis for the Ubuntu 16 build.
I saw in Tracks menu the "Swap tracks Up" and "Swap tracks Down" options
and, using RMB (Right Mouse button) over a track, the "Swap Up" and
"Swap Down".
However I always use the shortcuts "Shift+Up" and "Shift+Down" to move
one or more track/s up or down, so I will continue to use an old Cin
version: 20200531 or/and 20191031 for the Nest to Clip bin issue (see
MantisBT #427).
I repeat myself: I don't see any use on the new behaviour of Track Up
and Track Down. More, now you have the Tracks menu and the PopUp menu
with two new items added. I sincerely hope that GG restore the old
behaviour as it was at 20200531: it was perfect, and the "Move track/s
..." names were right, from a point of view of the user.

Thank you.

Here is a Ubuntu 16 build with the Swap Up/Down -- it should work the

=== Move tracks Up & Move tracks Down (Shift+Up, Shift+Down) ===

@GG
Please, please, plesase, Could you restore the old Move tracks Up & Move
tracks Down and their shortcut, please? I need them, I always use a lot
of video and audio tracks (sometimes temporary video tracks for VFX)
that I rearrange very quickly with Shift+UpArrow and Shift+DownArrow
shortcuts. I hope you may understand.

Thanks.

@PhyllisSmith
Thank you for your effort to convince GG to hear me.

@Pierre, @RafaMar, @Sam, @Andrea_paz, @MatN
Thank you so much for your support!

2. *IMPORTANT - Changed Behavior*:
A minor change to “move up” and “move down” tracks was implemented
to correct what was an exchange on the top track or bottom track
instead of a move.

What???
I didn't understand. Are You saying that the new behaviour to rearrange
the tracks by Menu

- Tracks-> MoveTracksUp (Shift+Up)
- Tracks-> MoveTracksDown (Shift+Down)
and its shortcuts is right now?

I really hope is it a bug (see MantisBT #469) because for me it has no
sense the new behaviour.
Now, that behaviour turn the tracks as in a wheel. And It is wrong
because you can not rearrange the tracks exactly as you want. It has no
sense.
The right way was what you can see in the video
http://www.visi1.org/cinelerra-gg_tutorials#ReArrangeTracksOrder

and you can test with the Cin_20200531 release.

Until the Cin_20200531 release it worked perfectly.
Cinelerra-HV and Cinelerra-CV work as before in Cinelerra-gg.

By Cinelerra-CV manual:
7.6 Manipulating tracks. Move tracks up and Move tracks down shift all
the armed tracks up or down the stack.

I really hope You (developers) and Users like Sam, Pierre, Andrea_paz,
Andrew, MatN, AVLinux, RafaMar, and so on, think like me.

I can not work with the last (wrong) behaviour of Cinelerra-gg_20200630.
Thanks!
