If the nonskid is rolled on, activate the gel coat, mix in colloidal silica to
mayonnaise consistency and apply with a fine sponge to match. Practice first

When the engine is not running, vacuum still sometimes shows. When I
remove the gauge, it should drop to zero. It's on my list to verify that.

FYI, when Lew Townsend rebuilt my Navtec, he gave me a nice black composite
washer/disc to go on top to protect the seal. Until then I just used a
rubber washer from a big box hardware store. A stainless washer works fine
also.

I suspect you'd have to prime it with 545 first. After sanding and prep,
my painter applied 3 coats of high build primer to get the smoothness he
wanted.

You'll need two dead end bails (eyestraps).
Suggestion, consider standing the jam cleats off the mast with Starboard or
teak pads. Why? So your crew can easily grab the up/down haul line. If
it's too close to the mast it will be hard to grab or your crew will scrape
their knuckles.

overly well.

Ditto. I hoist Touche's main by hand from the cockpit then finish with a
cabin top winch. The halyard runs through a Lewmar rope clutch which is
closed during the hoist.

groove. Try this: when out for a casual upwind sail, close your eyes and
steer. Have a crew tell you how you're sailing to the trim. You'll be
surprised at how well you can stay in trim with a bit of eyes closed
practice.

Sometimes, if you're lucky, you can install two hole saws on the same
mandrel. One the size of the existing hole as a guide and a second one the
size of the hole you want to drill. Otherwise, use Chuck's method.
