This morning we had a Harris Sparrow, male in full breeding plumage, and also a
Rose Breasted Grosbeak, male not quite in full breeding plumage, in our yard.
When I tried to put the grosbeak on ebird, I had no option for Rose breasted
grosbeak. Please advise.

I love these yard emails! In Northwest Fort Collins this morning we had 6 male
Western tanagers at the feeders as well as 2 male Bullocks orioles vying for a
place on the suet. Then the female tanagers showed up, but just 2 of them.
Let them work that out!

A gyrfalcon was seen soaring over west central Fort Collins about 2 pm, near
the cemetery. It was very light with definitive black wing tips. Seen by two

The dickcissels are still present near the parking lot in the first part of the
trail from Overland Drive, sometimes on the fence to the north, and sometimes
on a mullein to the south. Both were seen at 10 am and then again at 11 am.

A flock of Sandhill cranes was spotted by us northeast of Fort Collins near
the Budweiser plant, about 50 of them, and at 10:30 am. Would it take them
3 hours to get to north Boulder? They were circling, trying to get some up
lift. Also saw a kettle of about 4 red-tailed hawks and 2 bald eagles
I saw and heard three small groups of cranes over the foothills of Fort
Collins, Reservoir Ridge, on Monday morning the 26th of September. Each
group had about 8-12 cranes. These three groups were fairly high but could
be seen and heard clearly.
