Hi all,
Lots and lots of knowledge here, so I'm hoping someone can help with a
question.
I currently have a Netgear DG834G ADSL wireless hub (or maybe its a
switch, I'm not sure!). When we move house, I'm planning on installing
cat5 and a patch panel. Due to layout, I wont be able to have the
Left it running last night undisturbed, but stream had stopped when I
checked it this morning. This way have been due to my one year old son
doing a bit of keyboard bashing! Unfortunately the window got closed
before I could note down any reports. I'll just keep testing.

point in the building, then patch all your PC's, Squeezeboxes, and any other

The versatility of the slimserver is huge, the Squeezebox H/W and remote
may be used for information display and remote control, home automation
etc. I would definitely by more units if there was an optional cheaper
version without the audio outputs, perhaps also only with the wireless
ethernet.
I jest checked ebuyer and there seems to be no information about the ports
on their switch. I use Netgear switches and these are usually either
auto-sensing or have one port that can be used as a 'crossover' connection
via a front panel switch.
All you PC network configs remain as they are.

Me again.
The fact is that with large databases, a massive improvement can be
seen from avoiding the scans in Pages.pm.
As far as I can tell that scan is being done for any skin whatsoever,
even if the statistics info is not being used after it was generated.
If some people experience skin- or

Ok, Moose build 0.10 now up. Playlists should work better on the
official 6.2 release, and multiple-players shouldnt cause flicker
problems anymore..
Also added some more file-type letters (so M4A's will be displayed as
red boxes with an 'A' in, etc..)

Well, I saw the SB3 at the Mac Expo show in London today and I have got
to say when you actually see it in real life, it definitely looks
better than the SB2 (in my opinion). While the SB3 design is
understated, I thought it made more of a visual impact than the SB2
which looks more and more

Well both these problems got solved last night.
As Dan Sully indicated, the continuous firmware
updates were due to changes on SqueezeNetwork.
Shortly after he indicated they would stop, they did.
And I couldn't see my SB2 due to an id10t error.

Help translate SlimServer by using the
SlimString Translation Helper
By creating a small music library of 6 albums and reducing the scan time
from about 1hr to about 1 minute I have managed to have a decent play at
this Various Artists tagging issue.
The conclusion I have come to is that the Various Artists will
correctly identify your album as a compilation if

This tidbit of knowledge was unfortunately omitted from the
Squeezebox2 manual, but made it back into the new Squeezebox manual.
The ADD button inserts a space, the PLAY button deletes the character
under the cursor.

Take what Slimserver chooses in the random mix and save it to a
playlist. Then chop off what you don't want (the start of the next
album).
The randomness isn't live and won't be a total surprise; if that's
what you want, I don't have an answer.

After my experience with the NSLU2, I really doubt that 64MB will be
enough RAM for most people to use this device.
If the RAM can't be upgraded, then I would suggest waiting for one with

As I can no longer use Browse Music Folder in 6.2 I have
spent the day modifying flac Genre tags.
Unfortunately there seems to be a problem with Browse genre

no genre which metaflac shows as being tagged with a genre.
In fact I even end

I am unable to play any .ogg files. I am able to play them using
different players on the box, so I think the codecs are all good.

With Softqueeze (Linux) playing r4 on Slimserver 6.1.2 on XP, I've had
two cases where connections just dropped and restarted. After the
first I rant ethereal on Linux. After 3h40m (43Mbytes) of trace - same
thing.

same codes for similar devices. What I mean is that a .conf file for an
