Windows assigns the Com number to most USB converters when they
are initially installed. Windows will not reassign a com number
once it has been used so if you move a USB converter from one USB
port to another it will often get a new COM number (particularly
in vista Windows 7).

working on 28 and then check out the 2m functions. If a feature

Sounds like you've got a thermal intermittent issue in the K2. I'd
examine the toroids' soldering to be
sure the enamel's been completely removed. Reflow all with a good hot
iron - sometimes a solder
