Have you checked the PC/MAC to trouble shoot? Are you having difficulty with
the utility for the KPA500? There are a lot of steps to pursue before looking
at the schematic of the interface in the KPA500. First thing to check is to
try the cable on a different working connection to make sure t
The ownership issue is what almost caused me to sell all my equipment. But
then diversity from my K3S struck the phenomenal chord and I cannot believe how
much fun it is. Plus, the 500 watts, helps as well.

I don't have photos but my launcher is similar but the sprinkler valve is on
the end and the "shooting" tube is on the end... not so compact. The overall
length is 40" + and it is easy to aim. The issue is how much air to use. My
air cavity is much shorter and I can do 70Lbs. with a bicycle pu
My problem when I miss is getting the weight to go back up without tangling or
coming right back at me. I made a Pipe cannon using bicycle pump compressed
air with a sprinkler valve opening with two 9v batts. The same issue watch out
for the weight. I use a pair of caps on smaller pipe, but t
I use diversity on 20 meters with a vertical SteppIr and a loop. Both are
separated about 150'. What a difference. Amazing. Makes a huge difference
with stations fading in and out and near the noise level. I can work them with
the Loop, but the vertical is so helpful when receiving.

Wayne, please record and post the symposium, if you, can as I am intensely
interested, but cannot intend to do logistics.

To directly answer the question, the balancing circuitry is built into the
battery for the KX2. Typical for these types of enclosed batts. The balancing
device fits within the depression of the cells.

Max, I agree with your wiring comment. I have a Heil cable which was
suggested for my Heil mic and the pin outs don't match anything I know related
to the KX2/3. Too bad the Co.'s don't manufacture to match different radios.

You probably know the manual is viewable on line. When I order something, I
read and reread. There is more than I can remember. But I do remember some of
the major settings and those that appeal to me.

Wayne, I like the idea very much. Antennas: I have the original multiband BNC
antenna made in England, which is within the dimensions you mention. The
Maldol AH-C14 is much lighter but the Watters-Stanton multi-band tapped coil
could provide additional bands. My only concern would be strain
Wayne, will you offer a mic adapter to also use with KX@ and KX3?

Phil, the copper tape works on VHF/UHF with HT power levels, so at HF should
work well. Could even do multiple loops! Dimensions, will be the trick. We
need a designer to build and install and market for HF car top carriers! I am
not up to it.

Put a dummy load on output of KAT500 and if that doesn't give 1:1 then you have
a cable issue.

Yes, and I have used a whip for pedestrian with success. A 20 meter Maldol
works on that band and my favorite 17 meters. Just need better band condx.
But that is our hobby, dependent on conditions. Run 1500 watts in poor condx
with super antennas, same result, NADA!

Mike,
Just as we all should. Regulations are such. Who really cares the power; it's
the contact. I love <100 mw when it works. I usually don't bother with the
suffix unless it is meaningful and I can claim it once contact is made and is
solid.
