The only time I have seen this SWR on my KX3 is when the internal batteries (eneloop) were partially discharged and the voltage was 8.5 vdc (tuning caused the voltage to drop to 8.2 vdc). I noticed this when testing beta firmware for Elecraft to assess ATU behavior using different voltages

Ron, It will not automatically tune without user action. Tap the ATU TUNE to initiate a tune. Once you have "trained" the antenna on each band segment, it will automatically recall those last used tuning solutions when you return to that band segment. The latter is the "automatic" action.

Lucia, The KX3 SWR reoports the input value to the KXAT3 that it has found after tuning. That value may be quite different than the SWR measured at the antenna. If you want to check the calibration of the SWR metering in the KX3. set the ATU MD menu parameter to BYPass and do a TUNE. OTOH,
