Hi Beckie,
I forgot to mention about the air-ours was broken for 3 weeks during some of
the hottest weather before we could finally get a guy to come fix it!
Luckily we had a basement, so the kitties could go down there if they felt
too hot. Mostly they would just lie around the house. They
Hi Beckie,
I have been reading your posts, but am still learning
myself...so have been leaving it up to those who have
been involved with these problems longer than myself.
Until the day my vet told me my kitten had just tested
positive for FeLV, I just cared for my cats the way I
assumed, was
Hi Glenda,
Yes, it's been so nice! We've had the air off for a day and a half! I love
it! The babies can sit in the windows and smell the outside and hear the
birdies--it's wonderful! I'm in Northeast NE (Osmond)--quite far from you!
We're about 45 min. from SD and 1 hour from Iowa. I hope you
Beckie,
I have dealt several times, over 20-years, with three
different cats on the UTI issues. I forgot about
that...
Miles could be trying to tell you something,
especially this howling outside the bathroom door
stuff... I am sure everyone here, finds it

Hi guys,
I put flea medication on my cat's back 2-3 weeks ago. We left for a short
vacation (4 days) and when we returned, she had this big sore on her back about
the size of a quarter. The hair and top layers of skin were gone, and it was
just raw skin, so I started spraying Bactine on it.
Laurie,
I have been busy the last couple days, but wanted to
let you know that I have been following your posts
concerning Isabella. I am excited for her progress. I
have been feeling so sorry for her and for all, you
guys, have been going through. It is so great to hear
the good news!
Thank you,
Well, Miles if off to the vet today at 3:15. Wish him luck. He's NOT
going to be happy.

Melissa -- Rescue Remedy is a homeopathic essential oils kind of
calming thing -- made with things like valerian root etc. A lot of
rescuers swear by it -- not only for their kitties, but for themselves
(put a few drops in your drinking water). I've never tried it
personally -- though today is

My mom's cat is a very allergic cat. When I first found her outside, all the fur on her head was gone and she had scabs on her head on the exposed skin- she looked like hell. No one was willing to help us (not even the Humane Society!) because they thought she had mange. Turns out, she

My two cents: my Fel Leuk cat Monkee died on July 16. I had him for 4 years-- no health problems at all besides the initial worms, ear funk that came with him being outside for at least 6 months before I rescued him. I found a lump on his leg at the end of April and he was diagnosed with
I was really frightened when my ac broke. I could have suffered with
it a little while, but my cats were *really* suffering and I cant'
stand that (of course I also live in TX and it was well over 100
degrees in my house).
Missy and I stayed at the Motel 6 (because of her heart condition),
but I
Good Luck Miles...it's gonna be alright.

Thanks for this info.! I think my husband and I need the nighttime one!
Lately, I have been waking up with my throat feeling a bit closed and feeling a
little sick. Part of it is because my cat is sleeping on my head, something
that hasn't happened in about a year because they were banned
Beckie,
I second the thought on the UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). You'll also want to
get Miles' urine tested to rule this out b/c peeing in strange places is often
a sign of this. Good thinking Melissa and Kelley.

I used the Hartz Gold, or something like that, from Walmart, on my dog. Won't

Hi Melissa, I just want to say hello to you since we

area has been cooler too.

the above website is for general information about Rescue Remedy. I am a huge fan, I have used it myself everyday since Monkee died. If you go to a Holistic Vet, they usually mix their own "Flower Essences"- which have a lot of the same things in it as Rescue Remedy,
What type of flea medication did you use?

It definitely should. I didn't think I would be able to sleep when Monkee died because he slept with me every night. But Rescue Remedy Nighttime and the supplement Melatonin (it's in with the Vitamin Supplements at any store), kept me sleeping fine. It was the waking up that was hard because I'd
Thanks for the heads-up on Melatonin and the Nighttime version of Rescue
Remedy. I had no idea Walgreen's was selling it!. Even as I type I am
working off approximately 4 hours sleep because I woke up at 4 and
couldn't really get back. I'll give one of them, or both, a shot!
Too cute!

Wow! Very informative! I'm so glad I've found out about this! I'll check out

My cats like it when I put ice cubes in their water bowls.
I also put ice cubes in their Drinkwell reserve tank, water stays cold for
hours that way...

Our litter of "normal" house cats I had growing up also were fans of the ice cubes in water- mostly just to play with. We had one, my favorite, Rambo, who would literally sit there at the water bowl and stare at the ice cube, touch it with his paw, and drink water forever!!! Hours! He

If I may, my vet and I don't like the steroid injections. He says they give
the body many more times med than the kitty can absorb AND if there is a bad
reaction, no way to change the dose or discontinue. Daily pred is preferred
by him as doseage can be adjusted if needed. Just my 2 cents.
Dear Caroline,
I'm way behind reading everyone and replying, as you can see by the
