You can always install portinstall from the ports. Then cvsup your
ports tree regularly and run ports db -Uu (or something similar, I can't
recall right now - it's in the portinstall man page) and simply type:
Portupgrade kde
And it'll go through the whole thing. Be warned, it can take a LONG
pretty much it. With the exception of the rare site that
requires flash 6, it works perfectly.
To really get a multimedia capable browser you might want to consider
installing the mplayerplug-in and java plugins as well.

I'm a new FreeBSD user with a performance issue. I've installed 5.1R and KDE.
I've also installed Phoenix from the ports collection. When I'm using
Konqueror or Phoenix to browse certain web sites they take forever to load.
It appears the problem is associated with resolving domain
with the KHTML and Mozilla
engines. The site you referenced does load slowly for me, but I think is do
to the site and it is defiantly not a result of the operating system or KDE.

When you run the sound daemon for system sounds and such on KDE, it
interferes with xmms, and as a result xmms doesn't work. You have to
turn that off in order to use xmms
