[Audyssey] Out of the Park baseball?

2010-03-07 Thread James Homuth
Has anyone gotten Out of the Park Baseball to work with either JAWS or
Window Eyes? Specificly I'm wondering if it's at all reasonably accessible
and with how much modification. Failing that, I'll accept a game with
similar features and more accessibility. I'm looking to start up a league,
if anyone's interested in doing so.

Hi everyone,
At last. The great and powerful Drake is dead. my heroic fighter-mage,
Calista, slew the Drake after a monumental battle between my party and
the great Dragon of the dungion. Here are the high points of the
battle, but first a spoiler warning.

S P O I L E R

My party consisting of Calista the fighter-mage sentenced to the
dungeon for accidently killing the evil queen and her wolf companion,
Accalia, rescued a halfling thief and a gnome fighter from levels 2
and 5 respectively, and taught them to fight by practicing on the
lesser minions of the upper dungeon.
Finally, my party reached the Drake's chambers on level 7 where the
fight of their lives began. Calista used a level 5 destract scroll
which pretty much kept the Drake from attacking us for several moves.
While the hhalfling, gnome, and Accalia the wolf kept up a steady
stream of hit and run attacks Calista used a number of shrink spells
to weaken the Drake and keep him small and weak. Finally, Calista used
an empowerment scroll which doubled her attack strength, and she went
into a double flurry attack. She landed a series of attacks ranging
between 42 and 47 hit points of damage, and when she was done the
Drake fell victum to her mighty blades. Three cheers for the heroes
who faught boldly this day.
Ding dong the wicked Drake, wicked Drake, wicked Drake. Ding dong
the wicked Drake is dead.

Cheers!

HiHayden,
we talked this over msn. The actual bug was when you dropped items, they
duplicated. For instants, a level 5 lightening scroll. I dropped many copies
of it, and it was still in my hands. I dropped it anumber of times, and it
still remained. Then I picked all the scrolls. Then, the items were
dubbeled. How ever, it dubbeled the items and I sold all of the scrolls to
the town, and I was the richest and strongest ogre in the hole wide dunjon!

[Audyssey] Help with some ignorant ppl

2010-03-07 Thread Ch.B.

Hi,
Kind of unusual request maybe.
You all probably read about the blind gamer who had someone help him finish
this Zelda ocarina of time game by himself.
Now this very topic came up on gamespot messageboard which I go to to read
but never posted to. I should have known better.
Anyway, ppl on there just cracked jokes and made idiotic comments about why
blind ppl feel the bneed to play games and such anyhow.
So I posted some comments and even offered some insight on how games can
work for blind gamers as well.
So anyway, now some idiots have nothing better to do than to even question
how a person like me is even capable of hitting the reply button or be onj
the internet.

Anyone care to back me up and throw in some pointers there, is greatly
appreciated. Here is the direct link ( don't know if it will work with this
linkage, if not the thread is called blind guy beats ocarina of time. It is

Re: [Audyssey] Out of the Park baseball?

2010-03-07 Thread Gary Whittington

Liberty League is always looking for new managers in their
Strat computer baseball league.

I have created Jaws scripts for this game with around 100 frames.

I am finishing my Help for for the Strat Football game, which is to be
launched soon on my web site:

http://playball.ws

The basketball and hockey will follow.

AS of now my most attention is setting up the accessible NCAA MarchMaddncess
and the Baseball Accessible Liberty League (BALL a fantasy draft league
which the draft is accessible to the blind.
Not like many other major sites, that would care about the blind able to be
part of the whole package of fantasy baseball. BALL is for the blind and
family and friends as well as the up coming NCAA brackets.

If you wish to get on the Liberty Leagues email group, got Yahoo and search
for Liberty Leagues and sign up.

The members get to know first when pools and leagues are opening and any
other news like for Strat sport games and new Jaws configs.

I am in a league of other gamers who have sight and been playing the 1948
season. Been playing in the HRFL since 1933.
The longest blind person playing Strat by using Jaws. The Liberty League
for the blind playing Strat is using a more current league year.

As we go, for this league, since it does take time to get to speed with just
the game and learning the many Jaws Hot keys I designed for the game.
It's worth the money for the game and time to learn, as Strat is the best
Baseball sim on the market.
With 1000 computer gamers of the game that include famous baseball players
and announcers.

 Hi,
 Kind of unusual request maybe.
You all probably read about the blind gamer who had someone help him
 finish
this Zelda ocarina of time game by himself. Now this very topic came up on
gamespot messageboard which I go to to read but never posted to. I should
have known better. Anyway, ppl on there just cracked jokes and made
 idiotic
comments about why blind ppl feel the bneed to play games and such anyhow.
So I posted some comments and even offered some insight on how games can
work for blind gamers as well. So anyway, now some idiots have nothing
better to do than to even question how a person like me is even capable of
hitting the reply button or be onj the internet.

Anyone care to back me up and throw in some pointers there, is greatly
appreciated. Here is the direct link ( don't know if it will work with
this linkage, if not the thread is called blind guy beats ocarina of
 time. It is
in their off topic department in the forum section).

AS of now my most attention is setting up the accessible NCAA
MarchMaddncess

and the Baseball Accessible Liberty League (BALL a fantasy draft league
which the draft is accessible to the blind.
Not like many other major sites, that would care about the blind able to
be

part of the whole package of fantasy baseball. BALL is for the blind and
family and friends as well as the up coming NCAA brackets.

If you wish to get on the Liberty Leagues email group, got Yahoo and
search

for Liberty Leagues and sign up.

As we go, for this league, since it does take time to get to speed with
just

the game and learning the many Jaws Hot keys I designed for the game.
It's worth the money for the game and time to learn, as Strat is the best
Baseball sim on the market.
With 1000 computer gamers of the game that include famous baseball players
and announcers.

The game site is

[Audyssey] GMA Solitar beta

2010-03-07 Thread The Dealing Bandit
Hi friends,
Recently I had my computer hard drive die. I usually make a back up copy of
every thing I download and a copy of the web site I got it from. Unfortunately
I didn't make a back up copy of the GMA Solitar beta version leaving me
frustrated with myself for not doing so. I had what must have been the beta
version of the GMA Solitar game. I prefer that version over the one that is now
offered for the simple reason when arrowing through the rows I only heard the
up turned card instead of the card and the row I was in. It probably doesn't
matter to most people to hear this, but with my extreme hearing problem, it
just adds more for me to concentrate on that I really don't need to hear. Would
any one happen to have a copy of this version of the game or know where I might
get it. When I contacted GMA Games, they said they didn't have a copy of it any
more. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Audyssey] More Entombed Questions

2010-03-07 Thread Loravara
OK, I was running around on levels four and five.

First, when going down to level five, I was told the stairway branches, and
to pick between the mines and Goblin Town, or something like that.

I picked the mines.

When I came back from level five, the stairway didn't branch anymore, and I
couldn't go to the Goblin Town, or whatever it was called. Is that
expected?

Second, I have two quests on levels four and five. I don't think I saw
either of them, though.

I suspect I'm not doing the searching right, as I've never seen it work.
How do you search and make it effective? Am I missing whole sections of
these levels?

Thanks.

Re: [Audyssey] Help with some ignorant people

2010-03-07 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,
To be honest why bother? Most sighted people have a very dim view of
blindness in general, and havent't the faintest clue what it is like
to be blind to begin with. My guess is the people who are bashing
people who are blind over on Game Spot they aren't likely to listen to
you or anyone else anyway. They aren't coming at this with an open
mind, and are cracking jokes based on their own foolish ignorance. As
a wise person once said, a person convinced against his will is of
the same opinion still.
I guess bottom line what I'm saying is that people often have stupid,
absolutely ignorant, opinions about someones race, disability, or
gender and there isn't much you can do to change that. You can try and
educate them, but if they aren't willing to listen to what you have to
say with an open mind then your efforts are doomed to failior. Based
on what I read so far this looks like one of those cases.

   Hi guys,
Could I please have some help with autoit?. I know the bit where you have
to create the script, but I don't know what the code is. For an example,
if I want to make the game give me 100 health by pressing the pagedown
key, how do I do that?. Ok, if there isn't a function in the script for
instants, how do I make it give me 20 points at the end of a level in
autoit?.

Regards,

All of the gamefaqs/gamespot boards in general are known for stupid
people, in fact they've got a reputation for it, which is why fan sites
for series like Zelda, mega man etc tend to warn people off them (I'm not
joking, the mega man network actually did).

I'd suggest just reporting said people to the mods, - though the

Hi Darren,
Exactly. I read a gaming article a year or so ago that pretty much
boiled down to the same thing. The game industry are targeting young
kids with little to know imagination so they put all of the effort
into cool sounds and graphics and totally skip the part that a game is
suppose to have an engaging and interesting story line. In a nutshell
what the article said was that todays video games are being dummed
down for people with little imagination, and adding lots of flashy
graphics and sounds to make up for their total lack of quality
content.
However, that doesn't explain their attitudes over on Game Spot. I
think what it boils down to is their total inexperience with blind
computer users in general. They have grown up with this ignorant
assumption that blind people can't play games, can't use computers, we
all use braille, count steps, and whatever else the general sighted
public thinks of us. It is the kind of attitudes we can't really get
rid of until there more of us in the public eye, and unfortunately the
ones that will get the most attention is those of us whom we'd rather
not be seen or heard. I think you know what I mean.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] Help with some ignorant ppl

2010-03-07 Thread dark
well these days there are games for serious game players, and games for
casual graphically obsessed people with no imagination, generally the
serious games enthusiasts hate the trend, and indeed that's a chief reason
behind the retro gaming movement, games these days are easier, more
cinematic, more concentrated on gimics and less on gameplay than in the
past, --- -such is the thinking anyway.

Interestingly enough, i remember reading a topic on the Angband roguelike
forums from someone who was sick of what they called cliched, unsystematics
console rpgs, and much preferd roguelikes for that reason, and from a
sighted point of view, you don't really get more minimalist in terms of
graffics than aski.

There are of course stil games, such as the Metroid prime, Final
fantasy, Grandia or Mega man series (not counting battle network), which are
very much aimed at the old school, serious game playing fraternity, but
now it's become a minority interest, rather than being the norm as it was in
the past.

Indeed I've heard that's why Final fantasy 7 is regarded as one of the best
games of all times, it was cinematic enough to catch the eye of the generic
kids, but interesting and deep enough in gameplay and plot to keep the die
hard gamers happy.

Btw, my brother, and various friends of mine are very much die hard gamers,
hence my knolidge of the subject.

Hi,
Please, Jason I'm not mentioning you, i'm mentioning sighted game developers
that which make games. So in short, this message that you are reading, has
nothing to do with you. Sighted developers that which develop sited games,
they are dumb. They go like, blind people can't read or right, they can't
use a computer, and they can't play games. For instants, I had a friend
called Nella. we were in year 4 or 3 if i'm not wrong and she really wanted
me to play games. Its just some of the people that which are in the 1805
modes, lol!
Such as when I was reading an article ages ago probably at January but I
can't remember, A game developer has bin sued. I can't remember if it was
from pin interactive, but It happened in America for sure. This guy thanked
the developer, because of the graphics. But blind people were righting to
him to make it a bit blind related game, but the developer didn't listen,
and he got edventually sued.

Hi Darren,
Exactly. I read a gaming article a year or so ago that pretty much boiled
down to the same thing. The game industry are targeting young kids with
little to know imagination so they put all of the effort into cool sounds
and graphics and totally skip the part that a game is suppose to have an
engaging and interesting story line. In a nutshell what the article said
was

that todays video games are being dummed down for people with little
imagination, and adding lots of flashy graphics and sounds to make up for
their total lack of quality content. However, that doesn't explain their
attitudes over on Game Spot. I think what it boils down to is their total
inexperience with blind computer users in general. They have grown up with
this ignorant assumption that blind people can't play games, can't use
computers, we all use braille, count steps, and whatever else the general
sighted public thinks of us. It is the kind of attitudes we can't really
get
rid of until there more of us in the public eye, and unfortunately the
ones
that will get the most attention is those of us whom we'd rather not be
seen

or heard. I think you know what I mean.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] this blind thing

2010-03-07 Thread The Kolesar Brothers
Now I agree with Chuck.
List the games and where to down load them.
Also, list the podcast walk throughs of the games and where to find them as
well.
I've always said the following.
99 percent of the sighted world needs to do the following.
Put on a blindfold and have us take their carkeys away from them.
Now see how they use the remotes to their stereos, their TV sets, Their DVD
players. Wonder if they could get around their own homes with the lights
out? SMILES.
Its funny but it is sad.
Roughly 99 percent of the sighted just don't know us. If they don't work
with someone or have a relative in their family with a disability, they
don't know us and don't want to know us.
Now for the one percent that truely know us has to educate the 99 percent
that don't.
I'll share a story with my fellow gamers.
My brother Matt and I have lived where were at for twenty years now.
our long not seen Aunt came down for a visit with her new loud mouth know it
all of a husband. Matt and I are constantly going up and down stairs running
arans and what have you for our mother.
Now we all have our safety clues throughout the house that the sighted don't
pick up on.
We have a throw rug at the top of our stairs. I think this is the only clue
that we have in the house.
The funny thing was this.
Our new Uncle saw us running up and down the stairs and what have you.
He stated, you sure do know your way around the house. Well, wouldn't you
after living in the house for roughly ten years at that time?
Now come on now. If you need a cane or a dog in your own home after ten
years, you're in serious trouble.
I know most of us were brought up knowing that the only stupid question is
the one never asked or thought of asking since we've probably heard them all
by now. We can usually tell if someone is asking a question to be mean
towards us or would like to be educated to help someone that they might run
into on the street.
This is why the supply and demand of almost anything for the blind is so
expensive and in so low of supply. The sighted world just don't want us.
I was in a school for the blind for roughly two years back in the 70's.
Luckily ma saw how depressed I was getting from being in a school with so
many multi handicapt children.
It was no pinick and we all have our war stories from being in a regular
school system.
This is because the sighted world doesn't want us in their world.
Just my two cents worth on this topic.
Ron who now needs to go feed the dogs.

amazing how a bunch of kids can be so ignorant about all kinds of stuff.

playing rock band, bla bla.
Scary that these kids will one day run all of our countries... lol I should
of asked who over there wants to get their sighted butts kicked in a match
of tekken by a blind person. I was on both sides of the fence, not being
born blind but later in life, but never would I have reacted with nothing
but curiousity or if anything with respect for gamers who are so dedicated
that they take the time to master a game like that dude did with Zelda.

Hi,

just my two cents worth on this subject.

Unless you have some thick skin, ignoring them might be the best course of
action. it seems that educating them probably won't work. Most in part to the
fact that their eyes are open, but their ears are shut. Obviously, they are not
picking up what you are putting down. and if the game doesn't play on an X box
360, WE, or playstation 3, it doesn't exist.

but if you wish to show them something, think about the game entombed. let them

Re: [Audyssey] this blind thing

2010-03-07 Thread shaun everiss
Hi all

Not exactly the exact thing but along the same lines.
There was an old car rally at the local blind educational resource centre in
new zealand.
It was a rotery thing anyway.
So you got in your old car and you drove the car.
Thats fine.
You however don't know where you are going.
There is a blind person sitting next to you with braille instructions.
It only happened once but it was quite cool
So for a change it was the sighted person that had to listen to the blind man.
Not that I had it easy.
I had to make sure I did not read to fast or skip things.
I only had this happen once but it was a good thing.
Sadly this happened when I had no digital recorder.
If something like this happens again I'll dropbox it and then post it somewhere.
At 11:01 a.m. 8/03/2010, you wrote:

Good idea, but I'll bet it wouldn't work.

Another idea would be to list the sites where games for the blind can be
downloaded, then describe, in brief, the idea of game play, and maybe a
detailed walk-through of a short game. Even if it does no good, it might be
fun to do.

Hi guys,
Just an idea. When I was looking on the game spot stuff, I saw them on
youtube. Here is the idea. How about we make a review of a blind game, and
uplode it to youtube. Then in that way, they will understand that blind
people could use computer, and they could take a little lesson.

Hi,
I doubt it. The fact of the matter is sighted gamers have no interest
in games if they don't have lots of cool graphics and nifty animation.
BGT is primarily a game engine with audio and speech support. The cool
killer graphics aren't there and therefore wouldn't apeal to a sighted
market at all.

I have not played for ages but I do it mainly to keep my strat skills in shape
its not got really any replay value but I use it as a simple training tool
because of its randum nature.
its got a simple stat engine and you need to do calculations in your head.
ie if the defence level in a char is lower than you say by 2-3 points then you
may have a chance at him, if 1 or equal then even.
if 1 or 2 up maybe but any more and you have had it.
And ofcause there are monsters with high attack and low defence and the other
way round.
the castle battle is a bit overkill, but the graveyard and village battles are
the ones I am talking about especially graveyard.
I know for example that a sertain monster has a blade and he is a minor boss.
and sometimes I can waste him but sometimes its even and somethimes its real
hard.
I also know that there is a monster that if I look has armour to die for but
to get it off him I need to ingage in a long battle and the guy takes loads of
dammage.
One thing I like about lc is the fact that all the monsters in the centre
branch you need to kill, these are the core monsters.
the rest you can if you want but you may miss things if you don't.
Then there are monsters like the unicorn that you actually don't get a level
rec on.
in which case you need a reasonable high level.
firstly you need to get there without angering them then hope you are strong
enough to kill it else you have half your health cut and your potions
comfiscated.

Subject: [Audyssey] GMA Solitar beta

Hi friends,
Recently I had my computer hard drive die. I usually make a back up copy
of every thing I download and a copy of the web site I got it from.
Unfortunately I didn't make a back up copy of the GMA Solitar beta
version leaving me frustrated with myself for not doing so. I had what
must have been the beta version of the GMA Solitar game. I prefer that
version over the one that is now offered for the simple reason when
arrowing through the rows I only heard the up turned card instead of the
card and the row I was in. It probably doesn't matter to most people to
hear this, but with my extreme hearing problem, it just adds more for me
to concentrate on that I really don't need to hear. Would any one happen
to have a copy of this version of the game or know where I might get it.
When I contacted GMA Games, they said they didn't have a copy of it any
more. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
