Hi Liam.

Sounds like your getting things fixed which is good.

I must confess I do like the idea of a new system, sinse I've not been able
to play jd or superliam on my desktop ever sinse my original desktop
exploded in 2008, which is somewhat irritating.

Howdy gamers:

Here's what's going on.

Duck Hunt 1.2:

You may or may not know, but I've released duck Hunt 1.2 which takes
advantage of Streemway, as well as having the I K J and L navigation like
in

other games.

Website attacks:

Apparently a number of bluehost customers were affected by an attack on
the

bluehost servers. I was not spared and had to clean up the mess. The site
should now be virus free, as well. Scoreboards for all the games should
work

correctly. If there is a board that is not working, please let me know.

orders and replacement keys:

Apparently There have been some people who have either: 1. not gotten
replacements keys, and 2. not even gotten order confirmations with keys.
If you or someone you know falls in to one of these categories, please
email

me at l...@l-works.net.
I want to make sure these outstanding issues get resolved as quick as
possible.

new licensing system:

I have talked about it before, but this month when free tiem permits, I
will be working on an update to the machine-based system. I want to
replace

it with a user ID and key system. I feel the current system is way to
restrictive, and is unfair to users who own a laptop, or a netbook. I
will
hopefully have more info about tha tin July. Writing a new system is
going

to take a bit of time, but I feel it will be worth it for everyone in the
long-run.

thanks for reading.

Very true, but on our side I have read a figure that more and more people
are becoming labeled as "Visually impaired," in one form or another like 1
in every 3; as the baby boomers age various types of blindness is becoming
more relevant to the wider population. With that being said, maybe if the
blind thing begins to effect more people who have better resources and
influence, larger companies will begin to make more accessible software
and

entertainment platforms such as televisions with talking menus and dvr's;
basically they would have to provide accessible products because a bigger
market who purchase these products will need it; if you have noticed
allot

of 2010 cars have TTS capabilities for phone calling, GPS, radio and

Hi Lori,
Unfortunately, the world doesn't quite work that way. I know from
first hand experience that companies like Nintendo furiously protect
their copyrights and it is illegal to use copyrighted games and
characters like Mario in a game. The ADA has nothing to do with it
here.
In fact, I often hear blind gamers constantly spout off going after
mainstream game companies using the ADA and other similar laws, but
they fail to understand one major thing. They don't have the rights
they think they have when it comes to software like games.
For example, in 2001 the U.S. updated the ADA with section 508 that
made it manditory that software that was to be used by the government
or a blind employee in the work place had to be made accessible. This
means any operating system such as Windows, Linux, Mac, etc had to be
fully accessible. This also includes any office applications like
databases, spreadsheet applications, word processors, and so on has
to be accessible to the blind. For the most part a large majority of
those types of applications have been updated and have been made
accessible since the amendment was passed. However, what section 508
does not say is that every single software application out there has
to be accessible. Only those that apply to your job.
As it happens games are strictly entertainment. They have no place in
the work place so the ADA has nothing to say about them. They simply
are not covered, and none of us have the millions to take Sony,
Nintendo, Microsoft, Edos, E.A. Games, etc to ccourt and demand they
make their titles accessible. They'll laugh us out of court, and the
ADA doesn't legally apply here. You might eventually win a
descrimination suit, but are you willing to put up the thousands or
perhaps millions to take it to court and fight it?

Hi. I'm still around, however I've been quite busy finding full-time work,
raising two children under the age of two, college for my Bachelors in
Software Development and Game Design, and helping both Ken Downey and
Travis with PAC Mate development. I've turned away from the PAC Mate a bit
to start focusing on desktop games since that's where most of the user
base is anyway. Travis and Ken's games will most likely be PAC Mate games
exclusively, while mine has shifted. Desktops are now my top priority
while the PDA market comes last. I am working on a couple of titles but I
really can't say how long they'll take to come out as the ideas are quite
major and require out-of-pocket spending to get them off of the ground.
This is one of the reasons why I'm looking for work, to get my family in a
better financial place and to deliver to the blind gaming community what
we've all wanted. I'm hanging in there, and hope you will all do the same
for all other developers.

Re: [Audyssey] wi questions

2010-05-26 Thread Ken
The disc channel is on the top left. Point until you feel vibrations and
press a. Then, even if you're not on that channel, once you've pointed out
any channel, use the plus and minus buttons to the left and right of the
middle, slightly indented menu key to select the correct one, which you will
know because it will play the intro music for the game. Next, you'll need
to find the start button. If you've successfully pointed at the disc
channel to begin with, start is about an inch down and to the right. If
not, feel for vibes and press a. If you get something else, probably the go
back button, just repeat the process. You'll find it pretty fast. Then,
once you've got the start button pressed, you'll hear the ding that means
the game has started, followed by the vibrations of any wiimotes found.
Then press a again and you can begin.

If you can get some sighted assistance, you can rearrange the channels
how you want. You could put the disk channel all by itself with
nothing else around it. And remember, very small wrist movements will
make a difference.

Well whether there is a developer called Dark out there I don't know! I'm
more the moderation and random news and reviews fellow, for those who
can stomach pointlessness.

In terms of where the name came from, well when i was 18 and writing the
novelization of the playstation rpg Xenogears (working from a script), which
got hosted on her site, I had this odd idea that putting out your right name
on the internet was a bad idea.

"dark" was the main character of a book I was working on at the time,
actually he was quite cool, a very small sarcastic assassin who specialized
in throwing knives, so I adopted the monica as mine.

Now, I'm actually at the point where I've been dark so long I can pretty
much answer to it as well as to my actual name.

In fact, I even have a full online address which I use in annoying forms
where you have to fill in address fields but where I really don't want to
give my real address out.

First name: dark.

Last name: empathy.

Address: The ivory tower, 13 desolation row, the windmills of my mind!

Zip/post code: 000 unzippered! ;D.

I believe Phil means that if your actually playing as a silent walker or

a silent walker walking into a wall, though maybe they do that so

Hi Phil sorry I'm not sure what you mean by needing more sounds for your
character, I like Shades as it is now, though a future version would be
interesting to play. Those silent walkers give me the shakes, especially
if they stop then start moving again, or if there's more than 1 after
you.

It's quite strange to hear, no wonder the scientests went insane.

Actually I wonder what the sound is when Shades first opens, like a sort
of loud bang sound? It doesn't seem to be a door I checked around and
couldn't find one a part from the obvious ones a head. Original

Hi Dark,
Yes, David is working on the multi-player on-line version of Time of
Conflict right now.
He has stated in the past that he hopes to include this capability in a
future version of Shades of Doom and eventually Tank Commander.
Hopefully SOD will have new sounds since if you are playing one of the
mutants or even the insane scientist or the silent walker, then you will
need more sounds for your character.
But please don't pester him with ideas right now.
Phil

Hi,
To tell you the truth, I don't see how you would work a multy player version
of Shades of Doom. The Multy Player version of Tank Commander would work,
though it would be a dull one indeed--destroy the opposing TC17.

I'm afraid I don't particularly see the need to alter the game itself, it's
sufficiently playable and has enough Monsters etc already. Pluss, that would

take time and work.

New monsters, areas etc though would be fun for a shades of doom II, and
probably better than additions to the original game.

Not a bad idea in itself of course, though it all depends upon David
Greenwood and how he wants to do things, especially considdering I imagine
he's deeply into time of conflict currently.

Stil, for Gma's next project, Shades of Doom Ii with all new nasties might
certainly be fun.

Re: [Audyssey] shades of doom

2010-05-26 Thread dark
I assume "multiplayer shades of doom" would actually be closer to a
multiplayer death match with shades of doom mechanics in a special arena,
which might indeed be fun.

I must confess though, personally I'm more a fan of exploration than
slaughter the other person asap, so I'd prefer a multiplayer co op mode
where two players walk through the same base.

again though, how this might work we'd need to see.

If you can get some sighted assistance, you can rearrange the channels
how you want. You could put the disk channel all by itself with
nothing else around it. And remember, very small wrist movements will
make a difference.

Does anyone here play it and does anyone use that new second life text

Does anyone know how to get past the stupid capta thing you have to type

I wish the sites that have those things would go back to using number

How accessible is this game and it looks like you can play directly in

I've heard of the game, but didn't think it was accessible at all.
Where do I find the text that tells what the game is about or the point

Please any help, advice, or knowledge of this game and its new text

I've heard of the game, but didn't think it was accessible at all.
Where do I find the text that tells what the game is about or the point because
I accessed the web link and it seems to be just a registration form thing.
Please any help, advice, or knowledge of this game and its new text
accessibility feature would be appreciated.
Chastity

2010-05-26 Thread Castanedagarcia_Alfredo
I use windows media player, I wish there was a way of downloading it to studio
recorder or so. Who says that any game reviewer is supposed to show only the
first part of all games, and leave the rest? I have listened to a few reviews.
I found a good one about Super Liam which is a demo, and they recorded
everything in different sections.

The link on the audiogames.net page is to Kelly sapergia's review on the Acb
radio main menue program.

Hitting the link will stream the program, and going forward to track three
will find you the review. I have no idea how this works, but it
certainly does, I just checked it in Winamp.

Hth.

Hi.

I believe Phil means that if your actually playing as a silent walker or
mutant in a multiplayer version of the game, you'll need some more sounds
for your own character, sinse currently there are, for instance no sound for

a silent walker walking into a wall, though maybe they do that so
silently they don't need one ;D.

Re: [Audyssey] shades of doom

2010-05-26 Thread Phil Vlasak
The three enter the military base and hear the door slamming and locking
behind you.

You are the red leader and blue and green are on either side of you.
When you reach the first closed door, you type,
Blue, open the door and then move left so we can all shoot at whoever is
inside.
You get an OK from blue, hear the door open and suddenly there is a growl of
several mutant dogs.

Green, you take the ones to the center and I'll get the ones to the right.
You both enter the room with you scanning to the right firing your weapon as
fast as you can as a dozen or so dogs leap and run at you with their teeth
slashing at your legs.
After a few seconds the three guns stop firing and you listen as you hear no
more growls.

We got them all but there's blood all over the floor. blue reports.

I'm afraid I don't particularly see the need to alter the game itself,
it's
sufficiently playable and has enough Monsters etc already. Pluss, that
would

take time and work.

To be honest Tom, i'm entirely unsure of the circumstances or what posts he
did or did not make sinse the first I heard of this was his post on the
forum.

Sinse however he's a reputable developer in his own right and has come up
with some fun things, I thought it'd be only fair if I helped get this info

Actually i like all of Kelly's reviews, even if the shades one does only
deal with the first version. He tends to present things very well.

I'd be interested to see what he'd make of time of conflict, if

Very interesting. I knew he was working on something like this, but
wasn't aware he had put out a release yet.
 Very cool.
Also I noticed he mentioned having problems with my developers list. I
wonder why he didn't contact me as the list is still very much up and
active, but he doesn't seam to know the list is still there. Although,
I've been so busy lately I might have even missed any posts of that

Re: [Audyssey] shades of doom

2010-05-26 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi Lori,
If David creates a multi person on-line version of Shades of Doom,
there would have to be sounds to tell your character from the others in your
team.
He could either have a group of people attacking the monsters or have people
attacking monsters that are controlled by real people and not just the
computer.
For example if you wanted to play the birds, then you might want to tell the
other birds were to go.
This feature was put into the engine with Tank Commander where in the last
missions, you can take control of other tanks.

Hi Phil sorry I'm not sure what you mean by needing more sounds for your
character, I like Shades as it is now, though a future version would be
interesting to play. Those silent walkers give me the shakes, especially
if they stop then start moving again, or if there's more than 1 after you.
It's quite strange to hear, no wonder the scientests went insane.
Actually I wonder what the sound is when Shades first opens, like a sort
of loud bang sound? It doesn't seem to be a door I checked around and
couldn't find one a part from the obvious ones a head. Original

Hi Phil.

I must confess that was in no way a possibility I thought of, multiplayer
online shades with mutants etc available as characters. Deffinately sounds
interesting, though I must confess myself I'd stil like to see more single
player explorable content added in as well, but as you said, david
certainly has more than enough to deal with right now getting Toc in working
order.

Re: [Audyssey] shades of doom

2010-05-26 Thread dark
I'm afraid I don't particularly see the need to alter the game itself, it's
sufficiently playable and has enough Monsters etc already. Pluss, that would
take time and work.

New monsters, areas etc though would be fun for a shades of doom II, and
probably better than additions to the original game.

Not a bad idea in itself of course, though it all depends upon David
Greenwood and how he wants to do things, especially considdering I imagine
he's deeply into time of conflict currently.

Stil, for Gma's next project, Shades of Doom Ii with all new nasties might
certainly be fun.

2010-05-26 Thread Castanedagarcia_Alfredo
Hello,
I tried to go to the game review, but it takes me to a different mp3 file,
about someone showing how to use MP3 clip.
Is there any way of accessing the review?
Alfredo

2010-05-26 Thread dark
Hi.

I'm just passing this on sinse quentin C, aka Amineel one of the members of the
audiogames.net forum who's developed some smaller games of his own including a
multiplayer audio tetris game, posted this yesterday, and I thought the various
parties who develope might be interested to know:

API is totally useless...
Note : I'm working on some new cool features
