shane, might I suggest you just register and send her a pm or forum mail

someone else to invite you to someone else's folder is a litle
roundabout, not to say potentially dodgy.

Also, this is about the fourth e-mail from you today I've seen which
takes the form could someone do this for me?

Not that there's anything wrong with that, but perhaps you might get a
better response if you employed a litle decorum not to mention the word
please.

I know I personally would be far more keen to honour someone's request if
it was phrased as I would really like to play x, can someone please help
me? than could someone do someting?

Not trying to be the politeness police here, but i'm afraid a long slue
of such messages from someone makes them sound rather spoilt and
demanding.

Could someone do this? could someone do that? could someone do the other?

See my point?

I'm certain this wasn't your intention and you just were in a hurry, but
hopefully this shows the problem. Please remember that even though your
communicating across the net, considderation is just as much appreciated
as in real life.

Btw, this is not intended as a put down or to be unpleasant, just to try
and help things on the list go a litle more smoothly and indeed help you
ultimately to get your request filled.

also, I'm afraid light battles doesn't exist sinse it was never released
let alone developed.

That one does make sense. If blades shot out from a wall and you ran right
into them one blade could basically impale you through the chest. And
jumping over them... well, that depends on how high the blades were placed
in the area. Supposing they're placed about neck-height, either way you
get scured. Run into it and your head gets lopped off. Try and jump and
assuming you don't have some inhuman ability to leap up six feet in the
air, you'll probably get impaled through the chest or stomach.. or heaven
forbid around the waistline along an area that knives and blades should
never come close to touching.

Hi,
I still think the game is unbalanced...the fact that the blades kill you

I really don't understand why you guys have so many problems. I've
gotten
pretty far in the game, although I haven't beaten it. This is because
the

second boss is giving me some problems. he throws fireballs extremely
quickly and it's real hard to destroy him when things speed up. however
the

enemies themselves aren't all that hard if you have patience and don't
rush

things. you also need to apply some strategy to things as well. for
instance the teleporting enemies. you'd think this is a random thing,
but

you'd be wrong. they only teleport on specific coordinates. which means
that if you stand at a teleport point, an unlimited amount of enemies
can
potentially spawn. you'll kill them, then by simply jumping straight up
and

landing, or just taking a step back then forward, you'll get a bunch
more
to appear. to be honest I find this logic rather flawed and broken since
if

you know there are a bunch of enemy spawn points somewhere, you can
simply
use the jump command to cover some distance and prevent the spawning
from
triggering. . also remember if enemies teleport all around you and you
have

enough bullets, use your machine gun to destroy them in no time. there's
also the shop, don't forget that. so buy some bullets for the machinegun
there. don't bother buying any of the other items since you'll get them
in
large quantities. in every other case just use the sword. you can swing
it

as fast as you want with no penalties so break the space bar to kill
enemies faster lol

 Hi Clement,

Well, I'm not sure how to apply it to Battlezone, but I can think of
many mainstream games were if you get hit once you are dead, but it
might take 25 to 50 hits to kill the enemy. Usually, this works by
jumping bullets, ducking attacks, and other evasive maneuvers until
you kill the enemy. Of course, all of this is based on you being able
to see the attack coming in enough time to effectively move out of the
way fast enough. With Battlezone the problem is there is no warning
the attack is coming so you get killed before you can even begin
thinking about moving out of the way.

 Cheers!

someone else to invite you to someone else's folder is a litle
roundabout, not to say potentially dodgy.

Also, this is about the fourth e-mail from you today I've seen which
takes the form could someone do this for me?

Not that there's anything wrong with that, but perhaps you might get a
better response if you employed a litle decorum not to mention the word
please.

I know I personally would be far more keen to honour someone's request
if it was phrased as I would really like to play x, can someone please
help me? than could someone do someting?

Not trying to be the politeness police here, but i'm afraid a long slue
of such messages from someone makes them sound rather spoilt and
demanding.

Could someone do this? could someone do that? could someone do the
other?

See my point?

I'm certain this wasn't your intention and you just were in a hurry, but
hopefully this shows the problem. Please remember that even though your
communicating across the net, considderation is just as much appreciated
as in real life.

Btw, this is not intended as a put down or to be unpleasant, just to try
and help things on the list go a litle more smoothly and indeed help you
ultimately to get your request filled.

also, I'm afraid light battles doesn't exist sinse it was never released
let alone developed.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

That one does make sense. If blades shot out from a wall and you ran
right into them one blade could basically impale you through the chest.
And jumping over them... well, that depends on how high the blades were
placed in the area. Supposing they're placed about neck-height, either
way you get scured. Run into it and your head gets lopped off. Try and
jump and assuming you don't have some inhuman ability to leap up six feet

2011-04-03 Thread Trouble

Here is one point not mentioned and if so missed it.
With muds, most of the things that get upgraded are bugs in the code,
more features in the game for players and quests or quizzes to be added.
The play of the mud is still the same. So the need for changing the
client is not needed.
And here is one thought you can think about. With accessible screen
readers updating the software can do 1 of 2 things.

1. It can break already useable software by screen reader.
2. Make the software more useable.
A good example of this is skipe.
So always upgrading to latest and greatest is not always the thing to
do when using a screen reader.

Hi,

Not true. GMA is still very much active. It is true that they are
usually pretty quiet in between releases, but they consistantly
release a new product or update on a 18 month to 24 month release
schedule. Since 2006 there has been Shades of Doom 1.2, VIP Mud in
2008, and finally Time of Conflict in 2010. I wouldn't say they
haven't released anything in years since that's not true. If you are
expecting releases every few months or something then you have an
extremely unrealistic view of software development, game development

long time to create. I should know since I'm writing games with

well, the way you do it/the way I do it is with the A tag as follows.
You first need to make an anker which you can link to. the name you give it
is internal, you won't see it while reading the page.
a name=section1/a
then when you want to link to that page, you would make a normal a href
link, but for the address you would first give a pound sign, followed by the

name you gave to the anker.
a href=#section1section 1. introduction/a

That one does make sense. If blades shot out from a wall and you
ran right into them one blade could basically impale you through
the chest. And jumping over them... well, that depends on how high
the blades were placed in the area. Supposing they're placed about
neck-height, either way you get scured. Run into it and your head
gets lopped off. Try and jump and assuming you don't have some

impaled through the chest or stomach.. or heaven forbid around the

Try and
jump and assuming you don't have some inhuman ability to leap up six
feet in the air, you'll probably get impaled through the chest or
stomach.. or heaven forbid around the waistline along an area that
knives and blades should never come close to touching.

I really don't understand why you guys have so many problems. I've
 gotten
pretty far in the game, although I haven't beaten it. This is because
 the
second boss is giving me some problems. he throws fireballs extremely
quickly and it's real hard to destroy him when things speed up.
however the

enemies themselves aren't all that hard if you have patience and
don't rush

things. you also need to apply some strategy to things as well. for
instance the teleporting enemies. you'd think this is a random thing,
 but
you'd be wrong. they only teleport on specific coordinates. which
means

that if you stand at a teleport point, an unlimited amount of enemies
 can
potentially spawn. you'll kill them, then by simply jumping
straight up and

landing, or just taking a step back then forward, you'll get a bunch
 more
to appear. to be honest I find this logic rather flawed and
broken since if

you know there are a bunch of enemy spawn points somewhere, you
can simply
use the jump command to cover some distance and prevent the spawning
 from
triggering. . also remember if enemies teleport all around you
and you have

enough bullets, use your machine gun to destroy them in no time.
there's
also the shop, don't forget that. so buy some bullets for the
machinegun

there. don't bother buying any of the other items since you'll
get them in
large quantities. in every other case just use the sword. you
can swing it
as fast as you want with no penalties so break the space bar to kill
enemies faster lol

 Hi Clement,

Well, I'm not sure how to apply it to Battlezone, but I can think
 of

many mainstream games were if you get hit once you are dead, but it
might take 25 to 50 hits to kill the enemy. Usually, this works by
jumping bullets, ducking attacks, and other evasive maneuvers until
you kill the enemy. Of course, all of this is based on you being
 able
to see the attack coming in enough time to effectively move out of
 the

way fast enough. With Battlezone the problem is there is no warning
the attack is coming so you get killed before you can even begin
thinking about moving out of the way.

 Cheers!

Then the question becomes... how many hits is it supposed to take for
the blade to kill you? In mainstream games, if you so much as walk
into one, you're dead. Not only that, but a lot of games have almost
a straight line of obstacles like this, all activating at different
times. This means you either have to try and time it right and find
clear spaces between them, or backtrack and find another route.
Although I would agree about the fact you can't jump over them... it
shouldn't be a problem if they shoot out from the wall to have that
second where the sound doesn't play to have no blade there and for
the player to be able to jump clear. That way, especially if there's
a boulder or something else waiting on the other side, you can leap
over more than one thing at a time... battle zone is a fun game, but
needs two things in my opinion... balance adjustments, and some real
voice acting.

The point of the game is not to stand there and collect items... it's
to beat it and move on. The longer you stand there, the lower your
time bonus is... and it isn't the blades that are unbalanced, I
think... I don't really care one way or another, I just turn the game
on and blast through as much as I can. People don't like the fact
that you can't jump over them, and they kill you in one slash. I
don't like the fact that you can jump over them either... especially
since obstacles can often come in groups that are hard if not
impossible to avoid. The most basic one? The blade with a boulder
right next to it. You can't jump over the blade, and by the time you
walk past that blade the boulder is pretty much on top of you. That
one can be avoided though.. just back off and wait for the boulder to
come to you... but what if you have aboulder, blade and fireball all
at once? I have sceen that happen. You can duck the fireball, sure...
but by the time you get out of the crouch, wham... there's the
boulder. And you can't jump over it... because if you do, the blade
is right there to impale you. So either way you die.

Then the question becomes... how many hits is it supposed to take for
the blade to kill you? In mainstream games, if you so much as walk
into one, you're
dead. Not only that, but a lot of games have almost a straight line
of obstacles like this, all activating at different times. This means
you either have
to try and time it right and find clear spaces between them, or
backtrack and find another route. Although I would agree about the
fact you can't jump
over them... it shouldn't be a problem if they shoot out from the
wall to have that second where the sound doesn't play to have no
blade there and for
the player to be able to jump clear. That way, especially if there's
a boulder or something else waiting on the other side, you can leap
over more than
one thing at a time... battle zone is a fun game, but needs two
things in my opinion... balance adjustments, and some real voice acting.

[Audyssey] Moderator Reminder: Message Length

2011-04-03 Thread Thomas Ward
HI all,

This is a quick moderator reminder that many of your posts have been
going over the 10 KB limit per message. Just this morning I rejected
around 8 or 9 posts all because they were way over the 10 KB limit.
This is not unusual of late. It seams every day for the last month
there has been one or two messages that get rejected on size alone.
Now, with 8 or 9 in one day that meant I had to say something. Which
is simply this.

Whenever you respond to a post only respond to the message you are
replying too. Any text below the message you are replying too should
be deleted. The other way of cutting down message length/size is to
quote a particular line or section you intend to respond too. If you
don't follow these time honored list guidelines chances are you will
write a message only to have it rejected in the end. So Llet's do
everyone a favor and please remember to trim messages down to a
reasonable size rather than simply replying to post after post without
ever removing old text from the bottom.

Thanks.

I really don't understand why you guys have so many problems. I've gotten
pretty far in the game, although I haven't beaten it. This is because the
second boss is giving me some problems. he throws fireballs extremely
quickly and it's real hard to destroy him when things speed up. however
the

enemies themselves aren't all that hard if you have patience and don't
rush

things. you also need to apply some strategy to things as well. for
instance the teleporting enemies. you'd think this is a random thing, but
you'd be wrong. they only teleport on specific coordinates. which means
that if you stand at a teleport point, an unlimited amount of enemies can
potentially spawn. you'll kill them, then by simply jumping straight up
and

landing, or just taking a step back then forward, you'll get a bunch more
to appear. to be honest I find this logic rather flawed and broken since
if

you know there are a bunch of enemy spawn points somewhere, you can simply
use the jump command to cover some distance and prevent the spawning from
triggering. . also remember if enemies teleport all around you and you
have

enough bullets, use your machine gun to destroy them in no time. there's
also the shop, don't forget that. so buy some bullets for the machinegun

Hi Kevin,

Yes, you can get Super Deecout to run on Windows 7, but you have to
install the DirectX 8 components for Visual Basic 6. Namely dx8vb.dll
which does not ship with Windows 7 or the latest DirectX
redistribution packages. That's why you are getting that error.

The best way to resolve this problem is to grab Jim Kitchens Winkit
setup which appears to have a complete Visual Basic 6 runtime
including dx8vb.dll. Once you install that and reboot games like Super
Deecout should work with no problem. Its just a matter of restoring
the missing Visual Basic libraries Microsoft ripped out of Windows 7
when they officially dropped Visual Basic support a couple years back.

Try and
jump and assuming you don't have some inhuman ability to leap up six feet
in the air, you'll probably get impaled through the chest or stomach.. or
heaven forbid around the waistline along an area that knives and blades
should never come close to touching.

Of course, all of this is based on you being
 able
to see the attack coming in enough time to effectively move out of
 the

way fast enough. With Battlezone the problem is there is no warning
the attack is coming so you get killed before you can even begin
thinking about moving out of the way.

 Cheers!

Then the question becomes... how many hits is it supposed to take for the
blade to kill you? In mainstream games, if you so much as walk into one,
you're dead. Not only that, but a lot of games have almost a straight line
of obstacles like this, all activating at different times. This means you
either have to try and time it right and find clear spaces between them,
or backtrack and find another route. Although I would agree about the fact
you can't jump over them... it shouldn't be a problem if they shoot out
from the wall to have that second where the sound doesn't play to have no
blade there and for the player to be able to jump clear. That way,
especially if there's a boulder or something else waiting on the other
side, you can leap over more than one thing at a time... battle zone is a
fun game, but needs two things in my opinion... balance adjustments, and
some real voice acting.

Because the blade protector only works once. It might have been better to
have it be timed so it might work for several sets of blades but would wear
off eventually. That way you could still jump over that bolder that's coming
at you right between the two blades. Because when you're trying to judge a
jump to get over a boulder you're not necessarily going to also be thinking
about hitting E to activate another blade protector.

The point of the game is not to stand there and collect items... it's to
beat it and move on. The longer you stand there, the lower your time bonus
is... and it isn't the blades that are unbalanced, I think... I don't
really care one way or another, I just turn the game on and blast through
as much as I can. People don't like the fact that you can't jump over
them, and they kill you in one slash. I don't like the fact that you can
jump over them either... especially since obstacles can often come in
groups that are hard if not impossible to avoid. The most basic one? The
blade with a boulder right next to it. You can't jump over the blade, and
by the time you walk past that blade the boulder is pretty much on top of
you. That one can be avoided though.. just back off and wait for the
boulder to come to you... but what if you have aboulder, blade and
fireball all at once? I have sceen that happen. You can duck the fireball,
sure... but by the time you get out of the crouch, wham... there's the
boulder. And you can't jump over it... because if you do, the blade is
right there to impale you. So either way you die.

car. This is how USA Raceway works, and is in the first-person as it
tries to emulate the feeling of actually driving the car while sitting
in it.

With games like Poll Position they are third person because visually
it is from the perspective of looking down at the track from above.
You can see most of the track and all or most of the cars from that
angle.

Thanks.

I really don't understand why you guys have so many problems. I've gotten
pretty far in the game, although I haven't beaten it. This is because the
second boss is giving me some problems. he throws fireballs extremely
quickly and it's real hard to destroy him when things speed up. however
the

enemies themselves aren't all that hard if you have patience and don't
rush

things. you also need to apply some strategy to things as well. for
instance the teleporting enemies. you'd think this is a random thing, but
you'd be wrong. they only teleport on specific coordinates. which means
that if you stand at a teleport point, an unlimited amount of enemies can
potentially spawn. you'll kill them, then by simply jumping straight up
and

landing, or just taking a step back then forward, you'll get a bunch more
to appear. to be honest I find this logic rather flawed and broken since
if

you know there are a bunch of enemy spawn points somewhere, you can simply
use the jump command to cover some distance and prevent the spawning from
triggering. . also remember if enemies teleport all around you and you
have

enough bullets, use your machine gun to destroy them in no time. there's
also the shop, don't forget that. so buy some bullets for the machinegun
there. don't bother buying any of the other items since you'll get them in
large quantities. in every other case just use the sword. you can swing it
as fast as you want with no penalties so break the space bar to kill
enemies faster lol

Try and
jump and assuming you don't have some inhuman ability to leap up six feet

in the air, you'll probably get impaled through the chest or stomach.. or

heaven forbid around the waistline along an area that knives and blades
should never come close to touching.

Of course, all of this is based on you being
  able
to see the attack coming in enough time to effectively move out of
  the
way fast enough. With Battlezone the problem is there is no warning
the attack is coming so you get killed before you can even begin
thinking about moving out of the way.

Because the blade protector only works once. It might have been better to
have it be timed so it might work for several sets of blades but would
wear
off eventually. That way you could still jump over that bolder that's
coming

at you right between the two blades. Because when you're trying to judge a
jump to get over a boulder you're not necessarily going to also be
thinking

about hitting E to activate another blade protector.

I really don't understand why you guys have so many problems. I've gotten
pretty far in the game, although I haven't beaten it. This is because the
second boss is giving me some problems. he throws fireballs extremely
quickly and it's real hard to destroy him when things speed up. however
the

enemies themselves aren't all that hard if you have patience and don't
rush

things. you also need to apply some strategy to things as well. for
instance the teleporting enemies. you'd think this is a random thing, but
you'd be wrong. they only teleport on specific coordinates. which means
that if you stand at a teleport point, an unlimited amount of enemies can
potentially spawn. you'll kill them, then by simply jumping straight up
and

landing, or just taking a step back then forward, you'll get a bunch more
to appear. to be honest I find this logic rather flawed and broken since
if

you know there are a bunch of enemy spawn points somewhere, you can
simply

use the jump command to cover some distance and prevent the spawning from
triggering. . also remember if enemies teleport all around you and you
have

enough bullets, use your machine gun to destroy them in no time. there's
also the shop, don't forget that. so buy some bullets for the machinegun
there. don't bother buying any of the other items since you'll get them
in
large quantities. in every other case just use the sword. you can swing
it

as fast as you want with no penalties so break the space bar to kill
enemies faster lol

Then the question becomes... how many hits is it supposed to take for the
blade to kill you? In mainstream games, if you so much as walk into one,
you're dead. Not only that, but a lot of games have almost a straight
line

of obstacles like this, all activating at different times. This means you
either have to try and time it right and find clear spaces between them,
or backtrack and find another route. Although I would agree about the
fact

you can't jump over them... it shouldn't be a problem if they shoot out
from the wall to have that second where the sound doesn't play to have no
blade there and for the player to be able to jump clear. That way,
especially if there's a boulder or something else waiting on the other
side, you can leap over more than one thing at a time... battle zone is a
fun game, but needs two things in my opinion... balance adjustments, and
some real voice acting.

Then, to trick both of them, I told Aria my daughter, Tomorrow, we're gonna

Hi Clement,

Yes, I happen to agree with you. I love a challenging game as well as the
next person, maybe more so in some cases, but I really can't get into
Battlezone for that exact reason. It is not merely challenging some feets
are just down right impossible, and I think various things are overly
unbalanced with the combat etc. I chuck most of this up to the
inexperience

of the game developer who has a lot to learn as far as balancing game play
and challenge.

slim then, don't you think?

No, my idea is better. You should jump and hold onto the blade like a
rope. Then swing over and your done, but we cant do this.

Try and
jump and assuming you don't have some inhuman ability to leap up six
feet in the air, you'll probably get impaled through the chest or
stomach.. or heaven forbid around the waistline along an area that
knives and blades should never come close to touching.

I really don't understand why you guys have so many problems. I've
gotten
pretty far in the game, although I haven't beaten it. This is because
the

second boss is giving me some problems. he throws fireballs extremely
quickly and it's real hard to destroy him when things speed up.
however the

enemies themselves aren't all that hard if you have patience and don't
rush

things. you also need to apply some strategy to things as well. for
instance the teleporting enemies. you'd think this is a random thing,
but
you'd be wrong. they only teleport on specific coordinates. which
means
that if you stand at a teleport point, an unlimited amount of enemies
can
potentially spawn. you'll kill them, then by simply jumping straight
up and

landing, or just taking a step back then forward, you'll get a bunch
more
to appear. to be honest I find this logic rather flawed and broken
since if

you know there are a bunch of enemy spawn points somewhere, you can
simply
use the jump command to cover some distance and prevent the spawning
from
triggering. . also remember if enemies teleport all around you and you
have

enough bullets, use your machine gun to destroy them in no time.
there's
also the shop, don't forget that. so buy some bullets for the
machinegun
there. don't bother buying any of the other items since you'll get
them in
large quantities. in every other case just use the sword. you can
swing it

as fast as you want with no penalties so break the space bar to kill
enemies faster lol

Of course, all of this is based on you being
 able
to see the attack coming in enough time to effectively move out of
 the

way fast enough. With Battlezone the problem is there is no warning
the attack is coming so you get killed before you can even begin
thinking about moving out of the way.

 Cheers!

let's say you're in a situation where survival is difficult. like having a
bunch of blades, fireballs etc coming all at you. simple. drink enough
potions so that getting hit by several fireballs won't immediately kill you,
and jump over blades while using blade protectors.

Which are extremely expensive. I don't even bother with them. Besides it's
not the enemies I have a problem with for the most part. It's the
combination of blade, boulder and fireball coming at you all at once.
Because sometimes there are situations where t's literally impossible to
avoid all three raps unless you're able to time it exactly right so you
duck the fireball and still manage to jump straight up quickly enough to
avoid the boulder. Which is another thing, I hardly tink it's fair that
you're penalized points for jumping while in a crouch. I could be mistaken
but I don't think I've ever seen a mainstream game that penalized you like
that for performing a relatively ordinary action. Missing with an attack
maybe but jumping while crouched?

If you stand there long enough, you can get a limitless supply of items.
This includes blade protectors. Since you can get unlimited blade
protectors, how are the blades unbalanced?

Hi Thomas,
Yep. The first boss, for instance. The way it works is you walk up to him,
and just pound your spacebar while he blasts you to pieces with his gun. It
gets very difficult to jump away from him. The one thing I really liked was
his second boss; I do think he did an ok job with that one.

I chuck most of this up to the inexperience
of the game developer who has a lot to learn as far as balancing game play
and challenge.

On 4/3/11, Clement Chou chou.clem...@gmail.com wrote:

Right. That I did know about. But I think in this case regular enemies
are the problem. And 4 enemies of that type going against you like
that is something that I see as probably a bit unbalanced.
grins. Odds of killing all four without getting a fatal hit are pretty
slim then, don't you think?
