I am running the latest level of El Capitan. I use Time Machine.
Is it possible using VoiceOver and Time Machine to recover a contact I
erroneously deleted a few days ago?

I had some time today where I didn’t need to use my mac so I decided to
download and install the upgrade. It kept pausing and when it only had a minute
to go I went and did something else. As it turns out I still have Yosemite. I
went back to the app store and attempted the download again.
I used to be a big fan of using multiple voices for various categories within
the Speech pane of VoiceOver preferences. At a certain point, things got kind
of screwy and I stopped using that option and just kept everything set to Alex.
I recently, perhaps hastily, upgraded to El Capitan right
So does this mean it's the last update to el capitan and that it's cosmetic
with no security udpates?
So I can only assume from this that mac os x Siera will come out with no
security issues or am I hoping for to much.

Not sure why you are having this issue as I am running my finder in list view
and the side bar is there just as it always has been there. If this is not the
case then check the view menu to make sure you have not hidden it.

VoiceOver jumps all over the place in El Capitan is very painful.
In comparison I find my BootCamp version of Windows 10 and JAWS 17 to be

Download each app one and one from payed apps in app store
No big problems with El Capitan here. Restart voice over occasionally. Normal
vo comands in Safari. Have not learned hot spot. vo-i is often used in Safari.
Sometimes i get busy in apps and Safari, but not often. Late 2012 iMac.
Its easy to use Time Machine backup. At least with Time Capsule
