thanks, will have the seal checked carefully. The water seems to come in at the top of the trunk, right across the whole trunk. Possibly even from the ledge under the window, but it could be running from the trunk lid across to this ledge. Will check it out. Re: [MBZ] Black smoke and loping at idle.
Also need to keep in mind that there are some pumps with the Bosch production number 251 that may have the mark on the housing in the wrong place. Not all of them either. It should be under the approximate middle of a bolt if it isn't then you need to set the gear mark three teeth to the left of the housing mark so the mark on the gear ends up under the middle of the bolt. It's in the manual for replacing the pump with pictures and all. Silence leads to speculation. Silence by someone holding your money leads to intense speculation. Despite an obvious melt down for what ever reason on your part there are two debts incurred. One is monetary, and is apparently being addressed. The second is a debt of business trust and goodwill, which came with the purchase from Rusty and is owed to members of this group for the loyalty and trust they placed, and that he earned and you accepted with the purchase of the business, with them, as individuals, and as a group. I would strongly suggest you attend to both of those debts with full recognition of their value, regardless of weather or not you ever sell another car part in this lifetime. Both do not respond to silence and are not settled by avoidance. Man up, pull up your big boy pants, and press on with honor. Grant.. AZ... I used the front sunroof seal from them and while it wasn't much fun putting it in it works just fine. Did close a bit tight at first but it is just fine now. I would think that with any rubber seal the new one will be a bit tight till it compacts to the in use stage. At least that is what happened with the door seals. I got front door seals from Autohaus a couple of years ago for my 83 300TD and while they were at first a bit tight they are just fine now. I had to get the rear door seals direct from Mercedes since no one else had them and they were no different in fit then the URO ones on the front. Tight at first and now working good. It takes about 6 months or so for them to bed in. Saw no difference between Mercedes or after market. Used URO windshield gasket also. The guy had the window in in about 10 minutes, by himself. Guess I must be very lucky to have them work out right. Need to have the sedan done ASAP before my luck runs out. Sounds good to me. I could use a vacation. The door seals are easy but I don't know if even the offer of a vacation is enough to get me to do another roof seal. I'm still thinking of doing them on the sedan and I'm putting it off at least till winter so I don't melt down here. Which reminds me. After I got through with the front seal I decided that the rear sunroof seal didn't need to be done after all. Wonder what caused that? ;-) Frankly I think as long as there isn't any wind noise then they really don't need doing anyway. I will definitely do the little side brush things. They are easy and quick and when the do start coming apart the pieces tend to clog up the drains. Manfred Andrew Strasfogel wrote: Ha. So much for conventional wisdom. I was complaining about our slow internet. We've got DSL and its 1.5Mb/s which is all thats offered. I took that because Comcast rapes you if you don't want TV which we don't and they wanted a $200 setup fee to do absolutely nothing which irritated me no end. Pardon me if I don't do the dance of joy. On June 6th (boy, it feels like it was a lot longer ago) you sent me a message which said I find out after I asked about some parts you had provided incorrectly. I would agree. While I am a believer in forgiveness, I draw the line when someone willfully steals from me. I never received all of the parts I ordered, nor did I get a refund. When I attempted to do so promised were made, not followed through with, then I was ignored. One could argue that it wasn't a lot of money, but that's not the point - it's the principal that is at the core of this whole situation. We placed our trust in Trent, he took advantage of it, and now it's considered that we should this all aside and pick up as if nothing ever happened? The premise that we should do this for Rusty is a false one as well. Think of the logic: We place our trust in someone who has stolen from us so that Rusty can be made whole. [MBZ] Hole in the roof, was: parts sources, again
I think that the person who hoisted sunroofs off on all US destined cars is evil. The best answer I've come up with so far is to TIG the things closed and sealed. Grant.. AZ... Hear Hear! [MBZ] Trunk Triangle Source?
Looking for a trunk triangle for my S500 coupe (W140). No, I'm not that hung up about the safety aspect, I just like the trunk lids a lot better when they have the proper amount of weight in them. My other cars got trunk triangles retrofitted to them, and it was amazing how much nicer the trunk opening was compared to not having that extra mass on it. Damned things fly open like they're going through the back window without the triangle on them. I miss selling all the folks on this list as well. I wish things had gone better for Trent, I continue to offer any advice to him but he won't respond to me. I have forgiven Gary for accepting 17k in my Amex deposits from web sales at buyMBparts.biz that went into his buyMBparts.com checking account when we first split, because my wife insists that I move forward and upward with my new position at World Pac and get over the past. Well after 37 years of marriage she knows a lot more than I do, so I am doing as she says. Keep Trent on the list, he may turn this around, add Gary back, make them both behave. Don't buy from Trent for me, buy from him for his service, same as Gary. I wish I could sell everyone through World Pac but it just isn't to be. Mercedes parts are not particularly plentiful though. Rock Auto is good, but shipping can get you. Again, MB parts may not be plentiful. Autohaus AZ. My biggest problem with them is they ship from AZ, :) As an example, look up this tracking number at UPS. 1Z8582860353036252 I have had very good luck (pricey though) at Carquest (WorldPac distributor) locally. I *may* try Gary, but his online prices are way high. Perhaps he will cut a better price on the phone. I don't know. I have successfully used Auto Parts Warehouse also. I found a PA dealer that sells parts online, and has very competitive prices, considering they are OEM parts, and have the Tri Star logo on them. If you do the math, the keyboard work can be worth it. If twenty minutes of work, shopping and price comparing can save twenty dollars, that is sixty bucks an hour of after tax money. Considering a total tax bite of thirty percent (FICA, Medicare, Federal, State, County taxes), that would equal over $85 an hour before taxes. I am sure there are some here that may make more than that, but that ain't bad money for comparison shopping. In conclusion, it is a lot more work to buy parts now that Rusty has moved on. If Gary can come close on price, that would save a bit of keyboard work. So I pulled the crossover pipe to get a better look and I do have bio degrading wiring harness that probably needs to be replaced although nothing odd seems to be going on. Also I believe I have some dead glow plugs. Car starts fine but sometimes light comes on, sometimes it does not come on, sometimes it comes on while the engine is running. Sometimes misses a little when cold so I am sure it's got a couple bad plugs. So with the stuck glow plug problem, any trick to getting them out? Maybe I should pull injectors and soak with marvel mystery oil overnight or something before removal? Polite and professional and friendly, all in all a pleasant transaction. I believe she answered when I called a coupla times to find out what was going on.
