AT idle it may take 10-15 minutes for the engine to come to temp and
that could double the engine wear or worse. Idling also cokes injectors,
but this is a less important issue - especially if you do some highway
driving shortly after.

warmer. This is the next piece of the puzzle.
That engine can run at 5000 rpm and at 110 deg C almost forever - that
did NOT toast it!

sufficient when only 4 plugs need to be powered. Allowing the 6 plugs to
glow longer allows them to reach the same temperature that four plugs
will reach in a MUCH shorter time.

you describe are VERY
rare in OM60x engines even after 300-400kmi of service. Turbo seal
failures are also rather rare. 603.96 engines almost NEVER have shown up
with bent rods (I've heard of one or two).
