RE: [NSWolves] Wolves v Baggies [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
Another sad watershed in my long Wolves hair shirt experience. I watched this morning (and genuinely wished I hadn't). It is the first time I have EVER watched Wolves and wished I hadn't. Frankly it was embarrassing. Hennessy was the stand out (and he had one clanger). Johnston hopefully got an assist for one goal (he's in my fantasy team L). What is MM trying to do to Fletcher and Miljas? Nothing worked and we were woeful in the first half. Abysmal in the first half. I hate to say it but we were actually better in the second and got absolutely flogged. There is no midfield and our defense is pathetic. I don't care if we had Tevez and Ronaldo up front - they'd catch cold. I'm not for changing managers - but I soon will be L Matthew Leese makes very good sense in his lengthy email. In reality though I don't think we're going to attract the type of manager who wants to play attractive football. There simply aren't the type of players in our squad to play that style. We need a manager who can motivate grafters. On 13/02/2012, at 10:37 PM, Marcus Chantry wrote: Has Dave Jones got himself another job yet? RE: [NSWolves] Wolves v Baggies [sec=unclassified] [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
UNCLASSIFIED I am becoming frustrated with many things at Wolves, but one thing plainly obvious to me is that Ebanks Blake is totally out of his depth in the Premier League, he takes far too long on the ball..again it was obvious and pointed out by David Pleat last night. For me the spark has gone out of this team, Fletcher is the standout and does very well with the limited opportunities he gets.Frimpong was looking good but there is very little else to excite meits all so bloody predictable...Jarvis's runs, the wayward passes, etc etcit really is rubbsh. I had a feeling Mad Mick would put out an attacking side because of the QPR result ...for gods sake, that was against ten men...the commentators focussed on our very attacking lineup right from the start last night, and we were lucky to get away with conceding five in all honesty. Its probably too late for a replacement to make much difference now, the damege is done...but what can we do? It'll be the worst performance of his tenure at Wolves (we've had a few of these now, each one setting a new low - how bad does it have to get before it becomes unacceptable?) and not what is normally associated with a Mick McCarthy team (despite the fact that this sort of shite is exactly what is now associated with a Mick McCarthy team) but he's sure there will be a positive reaction to it (the most positive reaction we could see to this would be for Morgan to replace him). Poor team selection again last night - in trying to find places for his favourite players we end up with a striker playing at right midfield despite the fact he's signed a number of players specifically for this position. Ward and Edwards were classic examples of one of my biggest gripes with McCarthy now - picking players based on their lung capacity and willingness to put in a shift ahead of footballing ability (people have been somewhat blinded this year by Ward's 'energy' going forwards but as pointed out a number of times by David Pleat last night, he's a shithouse left back).. There's a need for grafters in the team but there has to be a mix. I don't understand McCarthy's insistence on buying players that he then tries to mould in his 'graft' ethos - you know when you buy a payer what their game's about. If he manages it it invariably makes them worse players (Milijas is a prime example), if he doesn't manage it he doesn't play them. We have enough talent and variation in the squad to be able to put out a team that includes graft with a bit of guile but he insists on a completely 1 dimensional game plan based around his idea of everybody 'putting in a shift'. It was effective in the Championship, its not enough in the Premiership. Paul Crowe really enjoyed the game. He only watched the 1 minute of injury time in the first half. Watching the highlights or in 'fast forward' means you don't suffer the same pain or get a full appreciation of our ineptitude. There were many thousands of fans in the ground yesterday who felt the same level of dissatisfaction, to the extent that many were fighting amongst themselves. After scraping through last season Mick and Morgan promised that there would be no repeat of the great escape and that we would make progress this season. They have clearly failed to deliver on that promise of progress so people should be entitled to criticize. However, at the end of the day if we finish in 17th position, in line with our wage bill, then we will have had a small victory in survival, even if progress clearly hasn't been delivered on the pitch. I like watching the games on fast forward. I really don't know how anyone can say we lack pace. I don't think the 'hair shirt' of watching the games in the middle of the night has anything to do with it. Imagine fighting amongst yourselves at a football game. Embarassing isn't it? I can't get worked up about it anymore. I know that Mick and Morgan said that we would progress but we only bought Johnson so it was unrealistic to think we'd improve much. I really can't see how Morgan has any other option. MM must go. He has been amazingly loyal to him but he just can't cut it. Time for some new ideas, even if we go down, MM has had more than enough chances.
