I do not know how the Pentax cameras work, Shel, but my Oly puts the
photos in a sub-directory on the CF card. Formatted in the computer
without those sub-directories you can not save your images to the card,
although the camera recognizes it. reformatting the card in the camera
does replace

PC, you must then go through Windows' procedure to remove the card. But
this shuts down that drive, so you can't insert another card and
continue transferring files. Windows won't see it. You have to restart
the computer.
