[PHP] register_shutdown_function

2002-04-15 Thread Hayden Kirk

im trying to make a distructor for a mysql class to kill the connection when
the object is destroyed using register_shutdown_function(~xmysql); if i
put that in my class will it do that or am i getting confused. ~xmysql is a
destructor function i made. Heres the code, will it work how i want it to?

class xmysql {

 var $id;

 register_shutdown_function(~xmysql);

 function xmysql() {
  $id =  mysql_connect(localhost,'mystic','cqr73chw');
   or die(Could not connect to MYSQL database);
 }
 function ~xmysql() {
  mysql_close($id);
 }
 function GetID() {
  return $id;
 }
} // end xmysql

RE: [PHP] Re: Need row number from database select

2002-04-15 Thread SP

I see what you are trying to do David but that was what I tried first but it
doesn't work because the function calls itself depending if it's not a
parent so the alternating colors become all messed up depending on the
structure of my folders. That's why I was hoping to get the number for each
of the result returned so I could change the color depending if it was odd
or even.

Any other suggestions?

Well, you don't need to know what row number is. Something like:

function build_folder_tree($output, $parent=1, $indent=)
{
  $color = red; // Set var to first option

  $qid = mysql_query(SELECT id, name FROM folders WHERE parent_id =
$parent);
  while ($cat =  mysql_fetch_object($qid))
  {
$output .= $cat-name + $indent; // here is where I want to assign diff.
colors
$color == red ? $color = blue: $color = red; // Cycle color for
each iteration

if ($cat-id != $parent)
  build_folder_tree($output, $cat-id, $indent.nbsp;nbsp;);
  }
}

[PHP] Re: Empty Delimiter error

 Let me try again:

 This line of the script:

 if (!stristr($lines[$key], $email)) {

 yields the following error:
 Warning: Empty delimiter in /home/sites/site56/web.

 Do you know what causes this error ?

 Thanks
 r

My guess is that $email is empty (or possibly $lines[$key]). The
documentation for stristr says nothing about generating warnings on such an
occurance, but it would make sense.

If your script can handle $email being empty, simply adjust your level of
error-reporting or silence the warning with an @. Otherwise, fix whatever
it is that's causing $email to be empty.

Re: [PHP] the document contained no data

2002-04-15 Thread Phieu Huynh

Thanks Nick and Martin,
   the code is ok but it doen't run in Solaris (unix) with nobody,
I test the code in Linux and run as I want.
  I work around the problem in Solaris by using EXEC() command.
I may need to investigate how to get running in Unix by using REDDIR().

Thanks

Nick Richardson wrote:

 The fact that there's a seg fault involved makes me think that's it's not so
 much a problem w/ code, but a problem with either apache (or whatever web
 server you use) a/o your PHP installation -

 PHP may be seg faulting before it's done reading the data from the directory
 and apache is reporting that no data was sent but the parser has stopped
 responding and is what it thinks is done.

 Could also be that the user apache runs under doesn't have access to that
 directory.

 Or i could be completley wrong too... who knows ;)

[PHP] Binding to LDAP/SASL w/PHP

2002-04-15 Thread Quinn Perkins

I have an OpenLDAP 2.0.23 installation running with SASL 1.5.27 to
support a Cyrus IMAP/Postfix mail server. I would like to work with the
LDAP directory with PHP 4.1.2.

I have another LDAP directory without SASL that I can bind to with PHP
without any problem (all the same versions).

For some reason, it won't let me bind to the LDAP w/SASL giving me a
Warning: LDAP: Unable to bind to server: Inappropriate authentication
error and pointing to the line where I specify the password to bind with.

I've triple checked my settings and rebuilt the PHP with LDAP libraries
compiled for SASL and can't find anything. I can use the standard set of
ldap tools (ldapadd, ldapmodify, etc) locally on the LDAP/SASL machine
with the same root dn and root password I am trying to use with PHP.

Is anyone using OpenLDAP, SASL and PHP? Since the root password is
commented out and carried in SASL, and the root dn is in a different
format (uid=myadmin + realm=myrealm), might there be a different
syntax I should use my PHP commands?

Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be very much appreciated!

Quinn

RE: [PHP] make a set of variables available to all visitors?

2002-04-15 Thread olinux

Actually the static variables will be used to make the
query.

ie
I want these static variables to be used so that my
url can be transformed into a numeric reference for
the db query

 website.com/finance/

finance gets parsed out of URL to be used in where
condition

 $article_type = array(news = 1,opinion =
 2,finance = 3);

$sql = SELECT * FROM articles WHERE article_type =
'2';
/* where condition will contain other criteria as well
(date/region) */

 Subject: [PHP] make a set of variables available to

 What would be the best way to make a set of
 variables
 available to all visitors?

 example:
 if I stick all variables in a separate file and
 include - include(settings.php); - that works fine.
 seems that this is a lot of overhead to include
 these
 on every page. These variables would never change
 (they basically turn an alpha string into numeric to
 speed up queries.) I don't think hard coding would
 be
 a great solution either...

 simplified example:
 one set of variables to be included on all pages
 refer
 to the article type - i would like to use urls that
 make sense to the visitor rather than number strings
 so -
 $article_type = array(news = 1,opinion =
 2,finance = 3);

 Maybe it would be best to simply query for WHERE
 article_type = 'news' etc.

 Thanks much,
 olinux

[PHP] Help on dealing with arrays of HTTP_POST vars

2002-04-15 Thread Carlos Fernando Scheidecker Antunes

Hello All,

I have developed a system to retrieve data from a table. The interface is a
dynamic list of orders created from a query on the database that shows all
the new orders. Next to each is a checkbox. Each checkbox has as its value
the order number and is called PED1, PED2, PED3,PEDn, depending on
how many new orders are available. If the user wants to access these orders
he has to check the orders he wants and click the submit button. Once it is
submited, it searches all the PED# variables on the HTTP_POST_VARS and
builds an array called $Orders. The $Orders array contains order numbers and
is later used to query a different table.

Ths code works almost great. But there is a problem, if the first checkbox,
say PED1 field is not checked, and some of the other checkboxes are (say
PED2, PED4), the $Orders array ends being empty. So, say that the form has 5
orders and the user selects orders 2, 4 and 5 and submit it. It does not
work. But if he selects 1,2, 4 and 5 it works. It works only if the first
checkbox is checked too.

What I wonder is why this code does not work if PED1 checkbox is not
checked. What if the user only wants other stuff but the first order PED1?

Could you help me on this?

Here's the code:

This is a function that searches for variables called PED1, PED2, PED3 that
are checkboxes on a submited form and have the order numbers. When this
checkbox is checked, the ordernumber is saved on an Array $Orders that is
later used to build a SQL statement.

function SearchOrders() {
global $Orders;
global $HTTP_POST_VARS;

 $index = count($HTTP_POST_VARS);

 for($i=1; $i = $index; $i++) {
 if (isset($HTTP_POST_VARS[PED$i]))
 $Orders[] = $HTTP_POST_VARS[PED$i];
 }
 $index = count($Orders);
 return $index;

}

This is a function that retrieves the array values that are order numbers
from the array $Orders and assembles a SQL statement $query.
This will later retrieve data from a MySQL table;

function MontarOrdRel() {
global $Orders;

 $query = SELECT  *  FROM tbl_Ord ;

if (count($Orders)  0)
 $query .= WHERE ;

 for($index=0; $index  count($Orders); $index++) {

 if ($index  (count($Orders)-1)) {
  $query .=(NumPedido = '.$Orders[$index].') OR ;
 }
 else {
  $query .=(NumPedido = '.$Orders[$index].') ;
 }
 } // for loop
 $query .= ORDER BY NumOrd;

Then $query is used to query a table.

Thank you for your help,

Carlos Fernando Scheidecker Antunes.

I think what I'm going to end up doing, is using a perl CGI script to do
this part. I /know/ perl can do it easily, and I won't have to hack

Thanks for the suggestions though.

USPS about shipping rates to display on a page. If you had to query
them
one at a time, the delay would be unacceptable. However, with that perl

faster.

You could system() or shell_exec() an external program/script which
forked off 3 children to perform the queries. You would then need to
parse the script output for the data you need. system() would require
you to capture the script output via output buffering.

If you want to use a CGI version of PHP as the external program the
functions described at http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.pcntl.php are
what you need.

This is a very neat idea. I hope I remember this when I need it :)

[PHP] Search Results, Per Page, Total Results!

2002-04-15 Thread Thomas Edison Jr.

Hi,

I have a mySQL table on which i'm performing a
search.. something like this :

$sql_text = (SELECT * FROM searchtb where
vCategory='$q' || vSubCategory='$q');

Now i want the Search Results to appear per page..
that is, maybe 15 Records per page should appear..
with something like this on top to navigate through
search results :

Page : [] 1|2|3|4|5 []

And i would also like to display total results found
on results page.

Lastly, suppose i have a column vProName in my mySQL
Database, which contains a record like this :
Millenium basket ball

Now if someone searches for basket or ball .. i
want this record to show up in search results. How can
i make that possible?

Can anyone guide me towards this..

Thanks,

Have a look at : http://www.phpclasses.org/

Also http://www.vhconsultants.com/ offer a real good package for your

It's not directly a PHP question -- but maybe someone knows the fix?

I have a form, when the user presses the submit button, I pass the form vars
to my PHP checkform.php script -- which checks all the fields to make sure
the user entered the correct values -- if the user missed something, then
they are passed to my error page, which lists out the fields they need
fix -- ideally, i would like them to press their browsers BACK button to
return to the form, instead of reloading all their session data back into
the form with a submit button on the error page -- too much data.

So, in Netscape, when a user presses their BACK button all the fields are
filled in just as they were filled in ... including the password field.
However, in Internet Explorer, when the user presses their BACK button, all
fields are good EXCEPT the password fields, which are bank ... so the user
is forced to reenter their password info -- kinda annoying.

Is there a HEADER or something or an IE fix anyone knows of that will force
IE not to delete the password info in this manner?

Maybe you should not rely on the browser, save the vars you got in a db or
file.
If there´s any mistake, send the form again with the data from db/file.
(Wow IE has some security function that makes sense ;-) )

$subject=Newsletter;
$msg=Hello $list2[0], bla bla bla; //include name in

mail($to,$subject,$msg);  //individual mail during

$counter++; //increment
}

i know several of you have expressed concerns about

Note that you do not need to use session_register() if you are using

?php

It's that simple. Note that you don't need to use a string constant
('bar'), you could use another variable to make $_SESSION['foo'] refer
to the same thing, as in:

?php
$baz = 'bar';
$_SESSION['foo'] = $baz;
?

You can access this new session variable in the way you might expect, by
using $_SESSION['foo'].

install, it worked ) I tried other users and passwords, which are in mysql.user
- but no connect.

I don't have a glimpse of an idea left to do. What do I have to do to get
the connect with mysql_connect oder do I have to something with the tables in
mysql ?

After reboot Mysqladmin shows the tables at least...

so I desperately need help :-(

[PHP] Re: phpMyAdmin protection

2002-04-15 Thread Julio Nobrega Trabalhando

  PhpMyadmin now have somekind of authentication method. From the docs:

What's the preferred way of making phpMyAdmin secure against evil access?
This depends on your system.
If you're running a server which cannot be accessed by other people, it's
sufficient to use the directory protection bundled with your webserver (with
Apache you can use .htaccess files, for example).
If other people have telnet access to your server, you should use
phpMyAdmin's http authentication feature.

Suggestions:

Your config.inc.php3 file should be chmod 660.
All your phpMyAdmin files should be chown phpmy.apache, where phpmy is a
user whose password is only known to you, and apache is the group under
which Apache runs.
You should use PHP safe mode, to protect from other users that try to
include your config.inc.php3 in their scripts.

[PHP] Remote file does not return var?

2002-04-15 Thread Imar de Vries

Hi all,

is there any reason why an included remote file does not return a
variable?

I have constructed a login page, where a user can enter his username and
password.

After completion of the form, I include a verification file on a remote
server, that checks the given username and pass with the database on
that remote server.

I have set up the line as follows:

$person_id =
include(http://www.someremoteserver.com/check_login.php?user=$userpass=$pass;)

and in the remote file:

$query = SELECT * FROM persons WHERE per_username='$user' AND
per_password='$pass';
$result = mysql_query($query);

if (mysql_num_rows($result)==1)
{
 $row = mysql_fetch_array($result);
 $person_id = $row[per_id];
 return $person_id;
}
else
{
 return -99;
}

The inclusion was succesful, checking username and pass is succesful,
but returning the variable fails, so the value of $person_id is always
set to 1.

Could this be due to some settings on the remote server, that prevent it
from passing variables back?

 I see what you are trying to do David but that was what I
 tried first but it
 doesn't work because the function calls itself depending if it's not a
 parent so the alternating colors become all messed up depending on the
 structure of my folders. That's why I was hoping to get the

 if it was odd
 or even.

 Any other suggestions?

 Well, you don't need to know what row number is. Something like:

 function build_folder_tree($output, $parent=1, $indent=)
 {
   $color = red; // Set var to first option

   $qid = mysql_query(SELECT id, name FROM folders WHERE parent_id =
 $parent);
   while ($cat =  mysql_fetch_object($qid))
   {
 $output .= $cat-name + $indent; // here is where I want
 to assign diff.
 colors
 $color == red ? $color = blue: $color = red; //
 Cycle color for
 each iteration

 if ($cat-id != $parent)
   build_folder_tree($output, $cat-id, $indent.nbsp;nbsp;);
   }
 }

Re: [PHP] phpMyAdmin protection

Actually the latest releases of phpMyAdmin come with options for password
protecting the programs... it's really nice... they're doing htaccess
without the .htaccess file (), plus three other forms of verification.

Well worth checking out.

There's a few lines in the config.inc.php file, and I guess a few words in
the documentation about it.

Failing that, you should do a search on google for .htaccess, to figure out
how to do it the old way.

What date/time was it 7 hours ago?

I'm just trying to make a log using mysql/php
This log is kinda supposed to show the time, local to the user.

So I store datetime on the format -MM-DD HH:MM:SS in a datetime field.
Using the php date function to get the date.

This will store the time that right then ON THE SERVER.

Now, when fetching data from the mysql table, I want to display what the
time WAS, LOCALLY (where I'm at, not the server) when the log entry was
made.

So. How do I make a function that takes in -MM-DD HH:MM:SS and spits out
the -MM-DD HH:MM:SS minus... for instance, 7 hours?

What date/time was it 7 hours ago?

  for($i=1; $i = $index; $i++) {
The trouble is here . You should be test for the max
Number of possible checkboxes, and not the number checked. If 3,4,5 are checked, then
$index is 3, bu thte varaiables will have names like
PED$3, PED$4, PEF$5 and your code will stop at 3.

  if (isset($HTTP_POST_VARS[PED$i]))
  $Orders[] = $HTTP_POST_VARS[PED$i];
  }
  $index = count($Orders);
  return $index;
Why not name the checkboxes as arrays like:
input type=checkbox name=PED[] value=18191
input type=checkbox name=PED[] value=18192

Then in php, PED[0] is the first *checked* value (so it could be the 5th checkbox).
Test with is_array to see if anything is check at all.

 a link in the form of products.php?tosend = 1
 but in the second pagein where I try to trap the value of tosend to
 include a file, i don't get anything.

I assume you mean that you can see the value in the URL, but when you access
$tosend, it has no value. You should be able to get it from $_GET['tosend'].
Or if you are using a version of PHP prior to 4.1.0, you can use
$HTTP_GET_VARS. The problem may be that you have register_globals turned
off.

 Now i want the Search Results to appear per page..
 that is, maybe 15 Records per page should appear..
 with something like this on top to navigate through
 search results :

 Page : [] 1|2|3|4|5 []

 And i would also like to display total results found

 Lastly, suppose i have a column vProName in my mySQL

 Millenium basket ball

 Now if someone searches for basket or ball .. i
 want this record to show up in search results. How can
 i make that possible?

The message means that that your script produced some output before the
session_start. You have to use session_start before any output. The message
shows where the output was started (line 9 of the given file). Sometimes
output is started accidentally by having a blank space before your ?php

Re: [PHP] Internet Explorer - BACK Button - Passwords?

2002-04-15 Thread Erik Price

On Sunday, April 14, 2002, at 07:56 PM, Jason Caldwell wrote:

 to my PHP checkform.php script -- which checks all the fields to make

 the user entered the correct values -- if the user missed something,
 then
 they are passed to my error page, which lists out the fields they need
 fix -- ideally, i would like them to press their browsers BACK button to
 return to the form, instead of reloading all their session data back
 into
 the form with a submit button on the error page -- too much data.

 So, in Netscape, when a user presses their BACK button all the fields
 are
 filled in just as they were filled in ... including the password field.
 However, in Internet Explorer, when the user presses their BACK button,
 all
 fields are good EXCEPT the password fields, which are bank ... so the
 user
 is forced to reenter their password info -- kinda annoying.

 Is there a HEADER or something or an IE fix anyone knows of that will
 force
 IE not to delete the password info in this manner?

I get around this entire problem by not forcing the user to use their
BACK button if they've made a mistake at all.

The form itself is the return value of a function, called print_form()
or something like that. I have dozens of these functions in my pages,
btw. Anyway, one of the cool things about this is that I can re-use
this function as many times as I need to create this form. So if the
user fails the error-check or the input is invalid, or whatever, I just
execute the function again and the form is displayed.

How do I get the original values back? Well, each input in HTML has a
value attribute. That's the default value of the input, in the case
of text inputs then the value will be echoed in the text box, et
cetera. In listbox inputs you can use selected=yes so that the user's
choice is selected. I just put the user's input as the value of my
HTML form inputs. Here's an extremely simple example of such a function:

function print_simpleform()
{
$simple_form = form method=\post\ action= .
$_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] . \
input type=\text\ value=\ .
htmlentities($_POST['userinput']) . \ /
/form\n;

return $simple_form;
}

Of course, you can get far more complex and have functions that do this
but use database info as the default values, et cetera. Also, you may
need to stripslash() your $_POST data if you have gpc_magic_quotes =
on.

[PHP] mysql.sock location

2002-04-15 Thread Ashley M. Kirchner

Last night I compiled and installed PHP4.1.2 with MySQL support (compiled
in Apache 1.3.24). During the configure routine, it indicated that MySQL's
socket was found as /tmp/mysql.sock - which is correct. However, upon looking
at phpinfo() after everything was installed, PHP indicated that the socket file
was /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock and consequently started complaining that it
can't connect to MySQL through that socket. For the first time in years, I had
to manually set the socket information in my php.ini file so that it would
work.

My question is, why the discrepancy? How come PHP's configure command says
the socket is /tmp/mysql.sock, yet when it's actually running, phpinfo() says
something completely different?

I realize that it's a small problem, which is fixed by setting the value in
php.ini, still. Something doesn't jive right.

 time WAS, LOCALLY (where I'm at, not the server) when the log entry was
 made.

 So. How do I make a function that takes in -MM-DD HH:MM:SS and
 spits out
 the -MM-DD HH:MM:SS minus... for instance, 7 hours?

 What date/time was it 7 hours ago?

Re: [PHP] Remote file does not return var?

Think of include() as a function that simply imports the data from the
included file and inserts it directly into the script that is doing the
including. So, any variables that were available in your included file
are now included in your script, although they are not returned in the
sense that you are hoping for.

[PHP] newbie: unix/php/mySQL permissions

2002-04-15 Thread ROBERT MCPEAK

I'm very new to php mySQL and need some help understanding how I
should set up my Unix permissions.

I would like to run php code that could delete/create/edit existing
files. I've tried to issue the load data infile statement from the
command line but mySQL gives me a permissions error.

How can I setup unix/apache/php/mySQL to allow for creation/deletion of
files, but still be relatively secure against malicious code?

Is there a permissions primer out there that could help this Newbie get
familiar with how this all works?

Thanks!

-Bob

[PHP] Re: Empty Delimiter error

2002-04-15 Thread Rich Pinder

Thanks so much Daniel.

Indeed, the old line that I modified didnt use a function call.

The old line was:
if ($lines[$key] != $email){

So, the @ suggestion works just fine:

if (!@stristr($lines[$key], $email)) {

Seems like a cryptic syntax for an error code of this meaning - and odd
that all the PHP sources I searched before posting here came up empty
for the terminology.

Thanks again
Rich

  This line of the script:

  Warning: Empty delimiter in /home/sites/site56/web.

  Do you know what causes this error ?

 My guess is that $email is empty (or possibly $lines[$key]). The
 documentation for stristr says nothing about generating warnings on such an
 occurance, but it would make sense.

 If your script can handle $email being empty, simply adjust your level of
 error-reporting or silence the warning with an @. Otherwise, fix whatever
 it is that's causing $email to be empty.

Re: [PHP] Poor results with GD

2002-04-15 Thread Andrew Brampton

They looked ok to me, but I don't know what the orginals looked like.

But the problem might be that your JPeg quality is set lower than you would
like. You can increase it be setting a parameter in ImageJPEG() or most
likly whatever function you are using

 Not sure if anyone else uses GD much, but I've been experimenting with it
 and PHP recently and I've found I get large file sizes and very 'aliased'
 graphics.

 Can anyone suggest a fix/ alternative?

 You'll see what I mean if you look at www.msear.com/paintings/ where the
 images are currently all generated with GD (but not for long, I think!)

 Cheers,
 Mick

[PHP] Accessing variables: $_POST and $foo

2002-04-15 Thread Andre Dubuc

While prototyping my db-driven website using Apache 1.3.23 + PPHP 4.1.2 +
PostgreSQL 7.2 under the rpm distribution of Mandrake 8.2, I used the default
register_globals=on setting.

As I'm nearing the end of protyping, I decided to switch
register_globals=off by ediuting the php.ini file. Unfortunately, by doing
so, I lost the connection to PostgreSQL: phpinfo() shows no settings for
psql. Since it's a pre-packaged rpm, I've no way to change the default
setting aside from editing the php.ini which then breaks PostgreSQL
connection. I could source the whole mess, but since I'm nearing the end of
protyping it seems like a waste of time.

I've re-written most of my code to $_SESSION and $_POST to pick up the
variables from the various pages. However, in order to test everything I've
had to re-load PHP with globals again set to on.

Now for the question: I would like to know whether the coding for the
variables that I'm using now will work with $_SESSION and $_POST.
For some reason, the only way to pick up the variables from a posted page is
to use at the beginning of the page (after the initial ?php session_start();
ob_start(); ?)

$sfname = $_POST['sfname'];

Now, in all the checking code that follows (to check for empty strings, html
code, javascript commands, and bad words) I've reverted to:

//snippet of code (h5 is formatting for CSS stylesheet)
if ($sfname == ) die (h5blah, blah blah/h5);

This works with globals=on, and while I had it working (without a functional
database connection) with $_POST and but not with $_SESSION (??).

My question: will this work in real-time once I get connected again to the
db? It's so frustrating having changed all the code to find that I really
didn't have to. Btw: can anyone explain why register_globals=on is such a
bad thing? I've read the security info, and they never really explained it.

Sorry for the long post. I would greatly appreciate any assistance on this.

Tia,
Andre

[PHP] Re: placing data outside the server root

2002-04-15 Thread Mike

Well, you couldn't put an image outside the document root, and use a normal
HTML tag (img src=image.gif) obviously, because the browser wouldn't be
able
to read it...

but

you could do img src=fetchimage.php?image=image.gif and the program
fetchimage could go to a directory (not in your document root) and look for
the
image image.gif. If it found it, it could pass back the appropriate
Content-Type
header (in this case image/gif), and then open the image as a file, and
start
spiting back the binary of the image to the browser.

something like this:

$file = /path/to/images/$image;

$imagep = @fopen($file,r);
if ($imagep)

header(Content-type: image/gif);
while(!feof($imagep))

$buffer = fread($imagep,4096);
echo $buffer;
}
fclose($imagep);
}

Something like that.

Good luck,

Mike

 Hi there,

  is it possible to place data like images outside the server root, and if
so
 does php still get access to them for displaying?

I did not think that PHP had support for destructor methods. You could
call your xmysql method manually if you like but you can't have it
called automatically if your object is unset().

This is according to:

bottom just before the annotations.

Subject: [PHP] who added the damn slashes?

Hi,

The problem:
I don't use addslashes($) but somehow that is what happens to my posted
data

The situation:
I'm building a wizard like form that read all posted data (HTTP_POST_VARS,
HTTP_GET_VARS etc..) and puts it in an array that is registerd in a session.
This gives me the possibility to use back en next in the wizard form. But
every time the slashes are added !

What is the solution

PHP version 4.0.3pl1
server is running a slash admin interface (so upgrading is a bit difficult)

what to do , to avoid those auto addslasshes ???

kind regards
Jeroen Olthof

[PHP] Detecting language

2002-04-15 Thread Boaz Yahav

Hi

I have an application that works with two languages. I'm trying to write
a function that will tell me if a string
contains only English or also chars from the other language. It's enough
that there is one char of a different
language to make the function return a true value.

I guess I'm not inventing the wheel here...
