I don't know why (or how) that would cause an LMS rescan (as opposed to
a CustomScan one).
LMS 7.9 on VortexBox Midi box, Xubuntu 16.04,
I decided to start from fresh a few days ago. I did a complete purge
and reinstall, using the latest 7.9, new prefs, cache, the lot.
The log is now exceptionally clean, and there have been no unexpected
rescans or other issues, so all is well. A periodic re-install may be a
wise move :)

There is some evil elf that waits until I report a problem has gone away

So I haven't played that much today. Some radio this morning generating

I've been away for a few days. I started LMS, and all was fine until I
opened my browser (at 21:15) to start to play something. A Dynamic

that's relevant, and then this happened. I did not do anything on the

And I just this as well. What is it? I did just stop a Dynamic

Today my system (7.9) has decided to rescan automatically, several
times, for no apparent reason - I was not even playing anything, just
getting ready to do so. I see nothing at the start of this on the log.
However, when the scan finishes and custom-scan and other plugins get in

I have changed browser from Vivaldi to Firefox, and the problem has not
re-occurred (it's waiting until I finish typing this).
I think that when I closed Vivaldi whilst a Settings window was on
display, on re-starting it Vivaldi was restoring that Settings window on
the first page and

Hi Marco,
I'm really glad you found that bug. It's now possible for me to test
individual settings easily and reliably. Previously I was not sure what
settings were being used, so got very confused.
For the 'Enable transcoding' setting, it would have helped me if the

Hi Marco,
All my files are stereo (a few mono) flacs, from 16/44100 to 24/192000.
For squeezelite-R2 I mostly use a Meridian Explorer DAC, and started it
using options -r 192000 -u hLE. The DAC indicates it's getting a
24/192000 feed - whether FLAC or PCM I don't know for sure, but I assume

I've tried to understand /ResultSet/contributor.pm, and the
countTotal routine, but my Perl skills are way too inadequate to even
know if I'm looking the the right place, let alone understand the code.
I can see that attention is paid to the unified artists list (which I

I have found one peculiarity that has caused me some confusion. Without
C-3PO being installed I have a flac file table as per the 1st image.
After installing C-3PO it is as per the 2nd image. I have lost the flac
to flac (native) transcode, which I want to use much of the time.
Instead I get

This turns out to be a rather subtle 'feature'. Note that I'm only
playing flacs.
If I just have a local squeezelite, a UPnP player that has a specific
flac transcode set up,
I had trouble with this plugin being present and using other plugins,
such as "Castbridge", even though I have turned off support for those
players in C-3PO (in the player settings). I don't understand what was
happening, and didn't see anything obvious on logs, but I was getting
white noise on

There are also other posts suggesting a DNS problem. When you verified
you could see the UPnPbridge plugin xml file using a browser, was that
on the vortexbox or a different system? Can you check your DNS is

I have always had more hearing loss in my left ear than right ear.
Lately, not being terrifically young any more, it's been giving me
problems using headphones. Not only do I miss some of the violins on
the left (I'm a classical nut), but I get weird sensations that the
music is out of tune.

To summarise my solution I'd just like to note that it can all be
streamlined by combining the socat and ssh commands on the client side
into one script, and by adding the name of the server's socat script to
the end of the ssh command. I also added 'killall socat' to the two
socat scripts

I've been struggling to get another plugin to do what I want (the UPnP
bridge) and found that having C3PO installed but disabled for the player
I'm using has unexpected consequences.
If C3PO is not installed, the convert.conf rule below is used, and in
this case that is what I want:

For one of my devices I'm using C-3PO to transcode to 48000 pcm in all
