Pi Zero W works great as player. And yes, original Pi and Pi 2 also make great players with piCorePlayer. The only caveat I would add is that wifi is only as good as your wifi network, so if there are issues and you are using wifi, don't necessarily blame the Pi, and absolutely don't blame piCorePlayer. Perhaps the Hyperpixel's are best considered for controllers. I picked up the 3.5 version a while back, but came to the conclusion that I didn't want to give up my HiFiBerry's and pHat DAC's. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer 4.0.0
pCP team, Thanks a bunch for the ability to write our own wpa_supplicant.conf. This now gives us the ability to use the encrypted passphrase instead of plain text. Bonus, we can have more than one network configuration! Thanks for this! For those that take advantage of the encrypted passphrase, remember to delete the commented out plain text password before you cut and paste it into your wpa_supplicant.conf file or it will be readily viewable from the pCP diagnostics pages. Also note that if you did an insitu upgrade, the old plain text wifi.db file is probably still lurking in your home folder. rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109286 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 3.5.0
I promise I've searched, but the only answer I've found is for a very old version of pCP. The answer is probably somewhere obvious, but it evades me. What is the current method for disabling the Web-Server interface? The only reference I have found was on the old website and was to run the setup script ("picoreplayer"). I tried Code: pcp ? but I don't see anything there. I'm setting up a player/server for my wife at work, but I'd like to lock it down a little. Changing the password is fairly ineffective if all someone has to do is browse to the web interface and change it to something else. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Wireless access point on piCorePlayer?
Greg, In my case rather than having 2 tabs, I had zero player tabs in pCP. The only tab showing was LMS. Looking at the LMS web interface info page I was able to determine that the LMS web interface was interacting with the wireless mac address. From the LMS interface I could start and stop the player that was outputting to my DAC. Eventually I figured out from the TFT/jivelite that there were two identically named players. The key was on the diagnostics pages. On the Diagnostics->Raspberry Pi tab/page, I came across "Controls MAC" and it was set to the wired mac address. Based on that I tried manually setting the squeezelite mac address to that address. Hence the next Eureka! moment. After setting the mac address I then had 2 player tabs in pCP. More importantly, I could set my autostart properties so the player would start playing pretty quickly after power up. Took the new experimental setup for a ride in the car last night. pCP in the car - woo hoo! ---- rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108341 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Wireless access point on piCorePlayer?
Paul, Thanks so much for making this available!! For anyone who has it almost working, but seems like there is a disconnect between squeezelite and LMS, it could be that pCP is using the wired mac address while your squeezelite instance is on the wireless mac address. I manually set the squeezelite mac address to my wired mac address and now they are in sync. (Greg - see I remembered about the diagnostics pages for a change.) Thanks again Paul!! Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] picoreplayer 3.11 +waveshare 3.5 TFT + jivelite + Raspberry Pi 2B+
Eureka! Now that I found it, it's kind of a duh! The solution to getting the framebuffer to be created promptly is in the bootlocal.sh script. When jivelite was enabled, the modprobe settings were placed at the end of bootlocal.sh after the call to do_rebootstuff.sh, so since they aren't called yet the framebuffer isn't created until after do_rebootstuff is finished in its entirety. Moving the modprobe commands to execute before do_rebootstuff.sh causes the framebuffer to be created and the screen to switch over and the rest of the boot/setup messages are then displayed on the TFT. I still don't know why slimserver needed to be stopped under the prior circumstances, but moving the modprobe commands to precede do_rebootstuff.sh negates the problem. I have a couple questions about some sections/items in do_rebootstuff.sh and some observations from playing with various settings in pCP. I'm hoping if I get a better understanding of what is happening, I can better diagnose my setup. If anybody has any insight on the following, I'd be grateful. Starting from a working pCP with LMS set to autostart: 1a) Reset LMS autostart to "No" and reboot. When I subsequently attempt to start LMS from the LMS page on the pCP interface, LMS never starts. The output window never goes beyond: Code: [ INFO ] Starting LMS... [ INFO ] 1b) Same scenario but I issue the startup command from a ssh/terminal. Code: sudo /usr/local/etc/init.d/slimserver start I get the response: Code: sudo: /usr/local/etc/init.d/slimserver: command not found Why is slimserver not in init.d if autostart is set to No? When/how during initialization is slimserver placed in init.d when autostart is set to Yes? 2) What is the purpose of the section in do_rebootstuff.sh Code: if [ "$A_S_LMS" = "Enabled" ]; then echo -n "${BLUE}Starting auto start LMS... ${NORMAL}" pcp_auto_start_lms echo "${GREEN}Done.${NORMAL}" fi That section is after the section that actually starts LMS, so I don't understand its purpose. When LMS autostart is set to Yes, this section of the script is not run, or at least it's echo statements are never output to the screen. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] picoreplayer 3.11 +waveshare 3.5 TFT + jivelite + Raspberry Pi 2B+
FWIW, I do want to confirm that I have a workaround and that is to stop and restart LMS in the scripts. It makes everything take longer to get started. Plus the stop and restart of LMS defeats the power-on options in pCP so you have to add another line to the scripts to start the player once everything is finally running. Basically, it makes the normally quick and graceful pCP a little clunky when trying to make an LMS/TFT combo. rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107366 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] picoreplayer 3.11 +waveshare 3.5 TFT + jivelite + Raspberry Pi 2B+
Greg, Thanks. I do need reminding about that page as it is a nice summary of all the various things to look through. In this case it doesn't give me any more insight, it just confirms what I'm seeing looking at dmesg and such via ssh. I'm just baffled as to why the line Code: SDL_VIDEODRIVER=fbcon SDL_FBDEV=/dev/fb1 /opt/jivelite/bin/jivelite & doesn't get executed if LMS is running. It doesn't matter if that line is called from a separate script, if it is called before slimserver is started or after. If slimserver is called in do_rebootstuff, the framebuffer doesn't get created and jivelite doesn't start unless slimserver is subsequently stopped. I've tried all the different combinations I can think of. I've tried to start squeezelite and jivelite before starting lms, but the common denominator is if the line Code: sudo /usr/local/etc/init.d/slimserver start is allowed to execute inside do_rebootstuff, the line to create the framebuffer and start jivelite will never finish executing until slimserver is stopped. It just sits there waiting until slimserver is stopped and then it loads jivelite immediately. FWIW, if I remove the parts of the line calling jivelite that create the framebufffer, then jivelite is started and output to the hdmi monitor, so jivelite isn't the culprit. There is some conflict between slimserver being called and the creation of the framebuffer. No doubt I'm missing something obvious. Unfortunately it isn't obvious to me... ---- rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107366 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] picoreplayer 3.11 +waveshare 3.5 TFT + jivelite + Raspberry Pi 2B+
Additional edits to do_rebootstuff.sh fix the symptom, but don't explain the cause. By adding a line that stops LMS at the beginning of the Jivelite section of the do_rebootstuff script Code: sudo /usr/local/etc/init.d/slimserver stop jivelite starts after about a 20 second delay. Since that worked, I added a line at the end of the Jivelite section to start LMS back up Code: sudo /usr/local/etc/init.d/slimserver start That re-breaks it. Adding that to The Jivelite portion or even adding it at the very end of do_rebootstuff causes jivelite to never start. I tried adding a sleep command before LMS is restarted, but even sleeping for 2 minutes doesn't allow jivelite to start. The only way I've found to restart LMS is to call a separate script to restart LMS. Code: sudo /mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce/start_lms.sh >/dev/null 2>&1 I still need someone who understands linux better than me to explain why Jivelite doesn't start unless LMS is stopped and why issuing a command in do_rebootstuff to restart LMS after jivelite is called still prevents Jivelite from starting. -------- rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107366 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

piplayer, Thanks, for the link. I have to admit, I missed that or forgot about it as it didn't apply to my situation yet back when I read this thread the first couple times last month. The bad news is it didn't work. I unsquashed pcp-jivelite.tcz, edited the script, resquashed and replaced. Switched the line in do_rebootstuff back to that script. On reboot, same symptoms. I verified that the revised script was persistent. Maybe I need to undo some of the other NJW edits to the do_rebootstuff script, but I still don't see what in that script is keeping the framebuffer from being created and the jivelite binary from starting. Bottom line: What in the LMS section of do_rebootstuff.sh causes the Jivelite section from not running properly? I just don't see a culprit. rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107366 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

The hdmi screen tells me that Jivelite was started and reports "Done", but that is the output from the dorebootstuff script, not the jivelite script which is supposed to have been called by the dorebootstuff script. I think the jivelite script is being called, but doesn't get run if LMS is already started. When I manually stop LMS, jivelite is apparently actually started and the switchover takes place. Does anyone have a 3.5" TFT up and running on a pCP with LMS also installed? I've run into some weird issues trying to add LMS to a working player. I added a USB hard drive and enabled LMS and had it working, but when I rebooted after enabling LMS autostart, the TFT no longer starts up when Jivelite loads. Here's where it gets weird. Took me a while to figure it out, but If I stop LMS the screen comes back to life. Then I can start LMS and all works fine, screen works, touch works, DAC works, etc. Basically everythings good until you restart and then I have to stop LMS for the screen to start again. I tried changing the order of things in dorebootstuff to try to load Jivelite first, but I totally borked the system and locked it up during boot. I'll keep tinkering with that, but in the meantime I thought I'd check in here to see if I'm missing something obvious or if anybody else has seen this behavior. I don't understand why LMS would prevent the screen from receiving the Jivelite output. Current setup is pCP 3.22, Pi3, pHatDAC, 3.5"TFT. Hardware all works fine without LMS enabled. I hadn't actually considered using piCore/tinycore for other projects until looking through that book and realizing the potential for so many projects! So many ideas - so little time! The udhcpd hint got me to busybox which has all kinds of useful info. What we want here is the client - udhcpc. Greg, I had forgotten about the diagnostics page once I finally obtained a crippled network connection. That is a really nice summary of all the pertinent info all in one place. That gave me the last clue and I now have made this thing boot up, enable the enc28j60, handshake with the router and move on through the rest of the process. The sd card is such a mess from all the experimenting, that I want to do a fresh install and document everything from the beginning. Once I have a good clean path, I'll update for those interested. I've finally gotten pretty comfortable living in a Debian world, so Raspbian has been very friendly - learning wise. pCP and tinycore are a whole new learning curve. Frankly it is a testament to Steen, Greg, Ralphy and yourself (as well as countless others, I'm sure) to just how well pCP works that I have never dug into it before. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce piCorePlayer 3.20
re: enc28j60 setup I've made a bit more progress. The module does work in pCP. Using ifconfig I can get the module on the LAN, but only in a limited fashion. If I add "ifconfig eth0 up" to /opt/bootlocal.sh the link is reported to be up in dmesg, but it still doesn't work. The startup reports "No network found!" and it can't see or be seen on the LAN. If I make the command in the script "ifconfig eth0 up", the start up still reports "No network found!", but it is reachable from local computers at that ip address and it can ssh out to local computers. It does not have access to the internet though, so it can't for instance see the picoreplayer repository. Clearly it doesn't know who is in charge of dns and probably lacks other info it would receive if handshaking had been established properly. IIUC, ifconfig has no way of initiating a dhcp request to the router. What is responsible in pCP for reaching out to the router to request an IP address with other types of network adapters? In the standard linux world you could use dhclient and /etc/network/interfaces to help with the configuration. How is this handled in picoreplayer? Thanks again for your help and patience! I appreciate all the help you've provided - especially considering it is something you don't use! All of you guys working on pCP provide service well above and beyond! For anyone else who may have some SPI insight, I'll offer the following to see if they can help discern what is missing. On a normal RPi with Raspbian, the kernel modules enc28j60.ko and spidev.ko are already installed. All that is required to make an enc28j60 work is to add the enc28j60 overlay to the config.txt file. A network connection is established quite quickly. With piCore, those two modules are not installed by default, but I have added them in, added the references to them in /opt/.filetool.sh and added the commands to get them started in /opt/bootlocal.sh. lsmod shows they are installed. I have added the dtoverlay for enc28j60 to config.txt and tested with and without various spi overlays (none of which are necessary with Raspbian). My suspicion is that there is another module that is missing, perhaps ethernet related, but all my googling and such has not revealed what that might be. Any SPI gurus out there? Thanks! I realized that I had made another incorrect assumption when I was reviewing the lsmod output again and comparing to the working Raspbian setup. There was no enc28j60 module in the list. I dug into the repository, found the enc28j60.ko module, put it in the pi and now enc28j60 shows up in the modules listed by lsmod, but still no network connection. back to googling through device tree and spi threads and comparing various settings in piCorePlayer to the Raspbian setup that works... I'm following the info in the thread you pointed me to with some variation. Since the Pi in question has no network connection yet, instead of using wget, I extracted the spidev.ko file into a local folder on my debian desktop computer. I made a temp folder alongside the tce folder in the /PCP folder on the sd card and copied the file there. After inserting the sd card back in the pi and booting up, I then moved the file into the correct folder in the /lib structure. Then I used vi to add the line to /opt/.filetool.lst. Backed up (pcp bu) and tested to see if that was enough. lsmod showed no change yet, so issued the commands: sudo depmod -a sudo modprobe spidev.ko now lsmod showed that spidev was loaded, so I needed to get these loaded autmoatically used vi and added the lines to /opt/bootlocal.sh backed up and restarted Good news, spidev shows up in lsmod now. Bad news, still no network connection. I added a dtoverlay line in config.txt for the SPI, dtoverlay=spi-bcm2835 Still no go. I know you don't use SPI on your setup, but I'm hoping you might point out some little step I have missed. I feel like I'm really close... I can report that I have successfully made both a PiZeroW and a PiZero1.3(non-wireless) work with pCP, Jivelite and a 3.5" TFT. For a PiZeroW, stick closely to NWJ's tutorial. I made some notes a few posts back as suggestions for updating the tutorial. You may find them helpful. For a non-wireless 1.3 I got it working with a cheap micro-usb LAN adapter with 3 USB ports. You won't need the newconfig.cfg file. Instead, after you image your sd card but before you remove it from your computer, add a line to the onboot.lst file. On my debian system that is in the 50MB volume in the folder /media///tce/. You will probably need to use sudo or log in as root to edit the file. Add a new line at the bottom: net-usb-4.9.50-pcpCore.tcz Save the changes and close the file. Make your changes to cmdline.txt and config.txt from the tutorial. Put the card in your pi and power up. You should get a network connection very quickly. Follow the rest of NJW's tutorial. I'm still working on getting the non-wireless Pi to connect using an enc28j60 module. If I figure it out, I'll report back. If anyone else has gotten an enc28j60 working with piCorePlayer, I'd love to hear how you got there. It didn't occur to me to try that for the enc28j60 since it is SPI, not USB. I did use that setup to get the PiZero1.3 working with a usb lan adapter prior to wiring up and trying a new install with the enc module. I looked for an appropriate tcz file for the enc but didn't find one. Going deep in other threads, I had found where Steen made a tcz extension for someone back around 2015 and pCP2.00 or so. I gave that a try but I was using pCP3.22 and it didn't work. I figured the extension was incompatible with the newer kernel or it didn't work because enc28j60 is now in the device tree. The enc28j60.dtbo file exists in the overlays folder, and I added the line dtoverlay=enc28j60 to config.txt. For a normal Raspbian setup, that is sufficient. I'm stuck on the crond time disparity message. I note someone else mentioned this in a different thread and solved it by rotating the screen setting and resetting jivelite. That doesn't solve it for me. The screen is working nicely otherwise and the calibration routine in NJW's tutorial worked nicely, it just fails to display jivelite. There must be a setting I'm missing, but I'm not sure what it is since the screen itself seems to be working ok. Perhaps the jivelite.tcz doesn't work on a PiZero? Any other thoughts? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] picoreplayer 3.11 +waveshare 3.5 TFT + jivelite + Raspberry Pi 2B+
NWJ, Thanks for putting together your tutorial. It took me a few tries to get it working - not your fault as I tend to improvise, but I eventually got there. I made some false assumptions and was playing with various settings the first few times through to see what they would do, so I had to start over a few times for my failed experiments. I also tried on A PiZero first instead of on a Pi3. I still don't quite have it working on a PiZeroW or PiZero(1.3), but I'll make a separate post about that. A couple notes to help others and for possible editing of the tutorial: The tutorial works with 3.22 on a Pi3. Is it possible to edit the title of the thread to reflect the range of versions covered within the thread? It would make it clearer that you have kept updating the tutorial for the new versions of piCorePlayer as they come out. After making the new sd card, it would be worth pointing to the link for making a newconfig.cfg file and reminding people to add that at the same time they add or edit the cmdline.txt and config.txt files for easy wireless setup. Like someone else in this thread, I didn't realize that adding the wav35 default extension would add all the rest of the jivelite dependencies. In retrospect, it makes sense that it would, but I kept installing jivelite first which may have caused some of my issues. It may be worth adding a note at that spot in the tutorial that it is unnecessary and potentially counterproductive to install jivelite first. Also, the name of the default wav35 extension has changed slightly, so it isn't obvious which of the wav35 extensions to add. Again, it is noted in this thread that the default will add other extensions, but the default wav35 extension name no longer matches the specific name in the tutorial. For others trying the tutorial - just pick the one with default and wav35 in the name. After editing the bootlocal.sh, you have the user go to Tweaks and check that the "yes" box for jivelite autostart is checked and then click "reset". If "No" is currently checked, they need to first check the "Yes" button and then click "Set Autostart". If you click "Reset" first the "Yes" radio button selection does not stick. It may be redundant to click "Reset" after clicking "Set Autostart" but I did both. Prior to the calibration section, you suggest adding a mouse or keyboard for the initial setup. It should be noted in the calibration section that you need to remove the mouse before the calibration or the mouse may interfere with the calibration routine or cause it to fail. This last suggestion is far more tedious, so feel free to ignore. It would be nice if the screenshots had highlighting to show what the edited differences are between the original and the modified versions of the file. Most of them were easy enough to see, but the addition of the comment tags for a few lines in the do_rebootstuff.sh file were a little tougher to discern. I'm one of those that tends to do the editing instead of just replacing the files since I like to see what the changes are so I can learn and understand how it is all working. Thanks again! And thanks again to the whole piCorePlayer Team. Owen Smith wrote: My LMS server is a Windows Home Server V1 box. It sits in my study miles from any hifi gear, and does multiple other jobs as well as running LMS. I wouldn't want a server anywhere near a player anyway as I can't abide the sound of hard discs spinning when listening to music. All I need from a player is an ethernet to spdif device with no fan or moving parts, hence my use of the Receiver. My WHSv1 server also houses my music library and for a while it was the LMS Server. But, mine is an HP MediaSmart and as the library grew it became a little less capable platform to be the LMS server - especially during pc backups or library rescans. So like someone else mentioned, it can still host the files while letting another computer run the LMS Server. Presently, that is on another traditional computer, but the Wandboard has shown it is more than capable of being the LMS Server but at lower power and no noise. rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101624 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

If you aren't willing to invest your time to read a thread, why ask others to risk far more than just their time for you? Next, Perhaps a better approach for now would be to find a linux distibution that will work on your Wandboard, get it up an running and add squeezelite to it. Last, keep in mind, that like all of us, you bought a development board and hoped it could be transformed into a squeeze player. You probably still can, it's just gonna take a little more work on your part unless/untill John and Adrian decide to take over the CSOS project. Many of us weren't sure how it would turn out but knew we'd have a capable little computer to play with regardless. Too hard? Wandboards frequently go on back order so you should have no problem recouping your investment. Clive on the other hand never will! Nobody made any of us buy Wandboards and nobody ever promised us anything. rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99395 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Community Squeeze OS F19 Release 1
First, let me state clearly upfront, this is NOT an attempt to fan any flames, or bring out the trolls. This is first and foremost one more big THANK YOU!! to Clive for all the time and effort put into CSOS. I do not claim to speak for Clive, and I don't know that this is the actual or the entire situation. I may be out of line for saying as much as this with no actual info, but to all the perplexed readers - please go back and read the whole thread. Clive's frustration did not come about overnight, and his legal concerns have very significant merit. Please note, that the one thing NOBODY has offered to do is take over the hosting and distribution along with the legal quagmire that it invites. Most of us don't have the resources, even if we wanted to, but regardless, it is not a trivial thing to host and distribute software in a world with potentially litigious people. I'm not trying to scare someone away from offering to help, but please, before you beg Clive to either continue or make an exception for you, or heaven forbid, condemn him for retiring, contemplate the perpetual stress that having a potential claim hanging over you (and your family) can cause and juxtapose that against the whiners and complainers. Clive, I wish you a happy retirement and again thank you for all you have so freely given, at significant cost, both financial and emotional! rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99395 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Community Squeeze OS F19 Release 1
JackofAll: Finally brought the Wandboard back in from the garage (outdoor music player) so I could update it to R8 last week and have been gradually giving it more responsibilities. As a Player served by my main SqueezeServer. Has been working flawlessly, both wired and wireless. Syncs nicely with my duet (also had a linux-squeezelite player synced to the Duet). Going on 8 days with no issues. As a Player/Server: Activated the SqueezeServer on the Wandboard a couple days ago feeding files to just the Wandboard. No issues to report. As a Player/Server also serving additional players: Switched over the duet (whole house audio) and the linux-squeezelite (outdoor player) to be fed from the Wandboard this morning. Had the 3 synced and playing all day with out a glitch. Thanks again for all the time and effort put into this! rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99395 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: Squeezelite - a small headless squeezeplay emulator for linux (alsa only)
Triode: Just wanted to take a minute to say thanks for squeezelite. I already had a good appreciation for squeezelite since it works so well (as does CSOS) on my Wandboard. I needed to take the Wandboard out of service last week while I upgraded to R8, so I re-purposed a retired XP computer by making it a headless Debian box. I added squeezelite and was up and running in no time flat. Squeezelite syncs nicely, plays nicely, what more could a guy want. Well, for better WAF I wanted it to be more appliance like - just push a button and go, so I set it up with the front power switch putting it in and out of S3 sleep mode. I keep the player synced with the whole house duet, so within about 4 seconds of pushing the power button it's powered up, synced and playing music in the side yard. Squeezelite Rocks! Thanks again! rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97046 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Community Squeeze OS F19 Release 1
Been meaning to add a thank you post to the thread for some time, but in light of the last couple days posts, wish I'd gotten to it sooner... Thank You JackofAll and all the rest for all the work to bring this project so far. I love my squeezebox system and I love my new Wandboard/CSOS player. I have barely begun the tinkering part, so I haven't been able to add much to the community, but as one of the many lurkers here, I truly value all the work that has gone into this so far. I find it hard to find the time just to tinker, so I am truly amazed at the amount of time being contributed by JackofAll and Triode as well as all the people who have been doing significant testing and feedback, plus John for all the work he's doing on the hardware side... Many, many thanks to all of you! As to the beer, if you happen to visit the flatland on this side of the pond (Central Illinois), we have beer(s) waiting for you here, too! rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99395 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

To test, I just started and am listening to Pandora (non-paid account) right now via my duet. Tried to bring up on CSOS/WandBoard and I'm told I need to subscribe to play on that device. I then synchronized the CSOS/Wandboard to the Duet and they are now both playing Pandora. rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97046 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Community Squeeze OS F19 Release 1
Finally received my Wandboard! Quick Start Guide was very handy as I was up and running and listening to tunes in very short order, but I noted a couple things. There was some discussion in this thread about different configuration utilities on different ports. It appears that the need to specify port 8080 is no longer necessary. I get a blank screen when I specify ip:8080, no 404 or other error, just a blank screen. Specifying just the ip address gives me the CSOS Home Page, as does specifying port 8081. As far as flashing the sd card, the guide assumes everyone is using windows. I would suggest adding a section on flashing from linux for those that are learning (or in my case relearning after a long absence) linux. One last idea would be to address updating. If it is recomended or not and how to use the yum command to get it going. Windows users and Debian/Linux users could use a brief section on updating if it is recommended. Many thanks to Jack-Of-All and Triode on the software and thanks to Stoker for the Quick Start Guide! Can't wait to put this through the paces and hopefully help constribute to the community. rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99395 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Pascal Hibon wrote: That does not make any sense to me. If the NAS is off, then it won't find any new files to add either. To me he best way to deal with this is by having LMS to check whether the NAS (or the music source) is available or not before and during a scan. Isn't it at least better that if it finds no files it does nothing rather than if it finds no files it deletes everything? rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99395 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Community Squeeze OS F19 Release 1
JackOfAll wrote: Of course, you carry on. The whole squeezebox thing always had, and still has the reputation, of geeky. That the owner/user needs to be a little geeky to use it. That's still the case. We haven't done anything to change that with CSOS or the WB. (Yet!) Things are not always as simple or obvious as they might seem. I hear what you are saying and it requires a little thought. This issue can't be unique to CS CSOS. It should be relevant to anyone using LMS who (for reasons unknown to me) allows automatic scanning but regularly shuts off the NAS or other music source. No idea how much influence this group has on LMS tweaks, but a possible solution to this is to add a tickbox to the database scan that allows the user to tell LMS to add any new files, but don't delete any old files just because it can't find them at the moment. rmac321's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99395 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
