[vchkpw] Problem with autorespond

2011-03-07 Thread Mindsweep Inc

Hello,
I am running a vpopmail system with MySQL database and maildir++ patches
based on instructions at http://www.shupp.org/toaster/.

I am having problems with the autorespond. When users set a vacation
message, qmailadmin uses the autorespond from Inter7. People sending to
users with vacation messages active will immediately receive a response
from the MAILER-DAEMON saying that the user is over quota. The problem
is is that this user does not have a quota set. If I set a quota,
everything goes through fine. Any ideas?

What version of vpopmail are you using? Also, is the MAILER-DAEMON
bounce from your system, or the sender's system?

Running vpopmail 5.4.18 (I know it's not the latest version, but trying
to track down other possible causes before switching). MAILER-DAEMON
response is from recipient's server, but the sender is on the same
server, so it's all the same.

[vchkpw] Problem with autorespond

2009-11-08 Thread Jeff Koch

Hi All:

We having a problem getting autorespond 2.0.5 to properly replace the
'from' and 'subject' header lines on emails that it sends back. The program
is adding a 'from' and 'subject' header but they are showing up as part of
the body of the returned email instead of in the header.

Any ideas? Has anyone else seen this? I know the program used to work
properly but it's been a while since we've actually tried it.

We're using Bill's Toaster with the most recent Simscan, Clamav, SA, and
qmailadmin.

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Jeff Koch, Intersessions

2009-10-12 Thread Len Burns
I would take a look at your default maildroprc file, that is most likely
where the problem lies. By default, it will deliver to
/var/mail/vpopmail. I just encountered this behaviour while setting up
a new mail server.

 maildrop, in this case vpopmail. I used to see this when first working
 with maildrop and not getting my delivery right. There may be a more
 precise description for what I just said, but as pointed out above, I
 would check your default maildrop script(/etc/maildroprc I think) or any
 custom scripts you might have in play.

[vchkpw] Problem with vpopmail: deliver all mail to /var/spool/mail/vpopmail

2009-10-08 Thread Javier de Miguel Rodríguez

Hello

I have netqmail 1.06 on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 x86
following LWQ. I have installed vpopmail 5.4.28 with the following
compile options

./configure --enable-file-sync --prefix=/buzones/ --enable-maildrop
--enable-domainquotas

So NO mysql support.

   I have created a test domain (javierito.com) to test that everything
works as desired. I see in /home/vpopmail (a symbolic link to
/buzones/vpopmail) that in the folder /buzones/vpopmail/domains exists a
folder called javierito.com

With qmailadmin I can create users successfully . I also have
configured dovecot to auth against vpopmail, everything works great
exepct that mail is NOT deliveres where it should.

Example:

- I create a user pru...@javierito.com
- I check that /buzones/vpopmail/domains/javierito.com/prueba has
been created, permissions and owner ok.
- When I send a mail to pru...@javierito.com I see in
/var/log/qmail/current the following:

@40004acdd2f818008224 info msg 4485292: bytes 232 from
javierdemig...@us.es qp 18966 uid 501
@40004acdd2f81b7da2c4 starting delivery 2: msg 4485292 to local
javierito.com-pru...@javierito.com

@40004acdd2f81b7da6ac status: local 1/10 remote 0/20
@40004acdd2f822f5af24 delivery 2: success: did_0+0+1/
@40004acdd2f822f5b30c status: local 0/10 remote 0/20
@40004acdd2f822f5b6f4 end msg 4485292

But mail does NOT appear in
/buzones/vpopmail/domains/javierito.com/prueba/Maildir/new. Instead, the
mail is delivered to /var/spool/mail/vpomail, in mbox format.

I am a bit puzzled with this. I provide the following files:

/var/qmail/control/locals

localhost.localdomain

/var/qmail/control/rcpthosts

javierito.com
localhost.localdomain

/var/qmail/control/virtualdomains

javierito.com:javierito.com

/var/qmail/control/me

localhost.localdomain

/var/qmail/users/assign/
+javierito.com-:javierito.com:89:89:/home/vpopmail/domains/javierito.com:-::

/buzones/vpopmail/domains/javierito.com/.qmail-default

| /home/vpopmail/bin/vdelivermail '' bounce-no-mailbox

It's also very strange that I want to user Maildir, I put it in
/var/qmail/rc launch script but anyway mail gets delivered in mbox...

What am I doing wrong? If I create a second user in that domain (ej:
prueb...@javierito.com) it also fails, all messages are delivered via
mbox to /var/spool/mail/vpopmail

I can provide more config files /logs /whatever to solve this problem.

Regards

Javier de Miguel

Very strange indeed.

The only inconsistency that I can see is you compiled vpopmail with
--prefix=/buzones but the assign file uses /home/vpopmail/, not sure if
that is going to cause any problems since logically it is the same place
but that's the only thing I can see at the moment.

Very strange indeed.

The only inconsistency that I can see is you compiled vpopmail with
--prefix=/buzones but the assign file uses /home/vpopmail/, not sure
if that is going to cause any problems since logically it is the same
place but that's the only thing I can see at the moment.

ls -lh /home/

/home/vpopmail - /buzones/vpopmail/

It should not be a problem

Rick

If I remember correctly, if there is no other delivery or end in the maildrop
script, it will default to delivery to the user who called maildrop, in this
case vpopmail. I used to see this when first working with maildrop and not
getting my delivery right. There may be a more precise description for what I
just said, but as pointed out above, I would check your default maildrop
script(/etc/maildroprc I think) or any custom scripts you might have in play.

Hi

I am not using vpopmail with ldap, but i am using it with mysql. I would like
to suggest you one thing instead of using

~vpopmail/bin/vchangepw u...@domain.com

you can try

~vpopmail/bin/vpasswd  u...@domain.com  newpassword

As you said, there is no problem while creating your domain and user, means
everything should be ok with  your ldap configuration.

[vchkpw] Problem adding accounts

 It doesn't show any version. I use:

 /home/vpopmail/bin/vadduser -v u...@domain password

Do you happen to know offhand what version it is, or an estimate of about how
long ago
you installed vpopmail?

I'd say it was installed about 3 years ago, but I don't know if it could have
been updated since then.

 have a look inside /home/vpopmail/include/vpopmail_config.h, this will tell
 you more

Ok, the version of vpopmail is: 5.4.18

[vchkpw] Problem adding accounts

2009-08-07 Thread Benon Fuertes
I've discover something else related to ldap

In this file: /usr/home/root/software/qmail/vpopmail-5.4.18/vldap.h

I have some parameters to connect with ldap:

#define VLDAP_SERVER localhost
#define VLDAP_PORT LDAP_PORT
#define VLDAP_USER cn=admin,dc=somedomain,dc=com
#define VLDAP_PASSWORD somePassword
#define VLDAP_BASEDN ou=people,dc=somedomain,dc=com

But I don't know what to change or how to tell vpopmail to authenticate with
this.

Check your processes and see if LDAP is running.

[vchkpw] Problem adding accounts

2009-08-06 Thread Benón Fuertes
Hello to everyone in the list.

I have a problem with my qmail server. It is running ok with mail
received and sent, and with the multiple virtual domains, but since
monday, it doesn't let me create new accounts. It doesn't let me delete
accounts either, and previously, I could do all this without problems.

The error that I get is:

server# /var/vpopmail/bin/vadduser u...@domain password
Error: Internal (implementation specific) error (80)
Failed while attempting to add user to auth backend
Error: no authentication database connection

I believe I haven't installed new software that can be causing this.
There is an openldap server but was installed and running before I
noticed this behavior. Of course, I'm trying to execute this command as
root.
The owner of qmail files is vpopmail who belongs to the group
vchkpw.

Honestly, I don't know which could be causing the problem. I've checked
permissions and owners, and make sure that there is enough space
available on disk. I've been told that this is a problem related to
vpopmail not qmail.

¿Any ideas?

Thanks.

Sounds like it can't talk to the database. What version of vpopmail is this?

There is probably a more descriptive error message in the logfiles. What
does /var/log/syslog say?

Or if you have strace installed, you can run it with strace and see what
comes up. It can usually give you an idea about what is wrong:

strace -f /var/vpopmail/bin/vadduser u...@domain password

It sounds to me it is either a permission error, or an error relating to the
backend, which backend are you using?

I think it's LDAP. I say I think because I didn't set up the server in

the databases of mysql server and haven't found anything related to

[vchkpw] Problem with maildrop support in vdelivermail

2008-06-26 Thread Alessio Cecchi
Hi,

i have found this problem in vpopmail compiled with maildrop support,
mailfilter files included from single users does not work and gives this

error: Jun 26 17:42:47 gag18 maildrop[24112]: Unable to open mailbox.

but the same configuration in a .qmail file works.

Here are some more detail:

vpopmail-5.4.26: ./configure --enable-valias=y
--enable-auth-module=mysql --enable-mysql-limits
--enable-qmail-ext=y
--enable-maildrop --enable-spamassassin

maildrop 2.0.4: ./configure --prefix=/usr
--enable-maildirquota --enable-syslog=1

/etc/maildroprc is based on this:
http://www.tnpi.biz/internet/mail/toaster/etc/mailfilter-domain

but important for me is this rules:

##
# Include any rules set up for the user - this gives the
# administrator a way to override the domain's mailfilter file
#
# this is also the suggested way to set individual values
# for maildrop such as quota.
##

`test -r $VHOME/.mailfilter`
if( $RETURNCODE == 0 )
{
log   including $VHOME/.mailfilter
exception {
include $VHOME/.mailfilter
}
}

so i can manage maildrop filter for single user.

Ok, the problem is during the include of the local .mailfileter because
maildrop return this error in syslog:

Jun 26 17:42:47 gag18 maildrop[24112]: Unable to open mailbox.

My personal mailfilter is like this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/vpopmail/domains/pippo.it/alessio.cecchi# ls -la
total 20
drwx--  3 vpopmail vchkpw 4096 2008-06-26 17:45 .
drwx-- 42 vpopmail vchkpw 4096 2008-06-24 19:58 ..
drwx-- 12 vpopmail vchkpw 4096 2008-06-26 17:45 Maildir
-rw---  1 vpopmail vchkpw  497 2008-06-26 17:37 .mailfilter

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/vpopmail/domains/pippo.it/alessio.cecchi# cat
.mailfilter
[...]
if ((/^From:.*MAILER-DAEMON/))
{
   to ./Maildir/.mailer-daemon/.
}
[...]

it seems that the home directory is settled in the wrong location (error in
syslog is Unable to open mailbox)

the strange thing is that if I disable maildrop support from
vpopmail/vdelivermail and in my personal .qmail file set:

|/usr/bin/maildrop /etc/maildroprc

everything works properly

But this command is not the same that vpopmail call?

Thanks

Bergum, 27 mei 2008. Sinds vandaag continueert Xenosite B.V. de diensten van

Mede-eigenaar Kim Hoogenberg kon op korte termijn geen definitieve oplossing

Technisch directeur Tudor Capatina van Xenosite heeft samen met zijn team op

after server.com and before the final '.' - it's how qmail indicates a
funky character IIRC.

  Why this?

 server.com doesn't have any MX records, so qmail can't find a host to
 send the message to.

But it does have an A record, so if he really was trying to send
to server.com, qmail should have responded with a can't establish an SMTP
connection message instead.

  Could be the problem relate to the crlf of the telnete session?

 No.

I agree that it's unlikely, but maybe something else is happening. But I
agree that the original poster needs to provide more info, preferably without
hiding anything (other than passwords), so we can diagnose it better. Also,
the output of valias showing the alias, and perhaps the actual alias DB dump
showing it would be helpful too...

Also if i open the same .qmail vith vim i see [DOS] for encoding.

Actually, looking at the code, he's right - the line in question is in
vpopmaild.c, line 1002:

if ((alias_line=strtok(NULL, \n))==NULL) {

The strtok tokenizes after the '\n' (LF), leaving the '\r' (CR) as the
last character of the alias_line, which would have the exact effect he's
seeing. Looks like the same bug exists on line 1051 as well (identical
code block in remove_alias). Every other instance of strtok() uses one of
two defines for the token list - TOKENS or PASS_TOKENS, these are the only
two strtok() calls using an explicit token list. Patch is attached.

You've got the wrong AUTH patch to qmail-smtpd. Use the one from
vpopmail contrib. A long time ago I had considered modifying vchkpw
to try swapping the challenge and response if the first pw check
failed, but I don't think I ever got around to trying it. That would
allow vchkpw to work with both the old patch (which passed the
challenge and response in the wrong order) and the current one.

If you can generate a list of email addresses it was sent to then you
can use the -e excludefile option.

-e exclude_email_addr_file (list of addresses to exclude)

vpopbull will skip all the email addresses in the exclude list.

Grab your send logs, quickly before they disappear.
Use grep, sed, cut and so on the pull the addresses out
The mail may have been sent by [EMAIL PROTECTED] so look for that

[vchkpw] Courier-authlib with vchkpw, problem.

2006-05-15 Thread Marco Spiga

Hello!!!

Why when I compiling courier-authlib with vpopmail it don't create
libauthvchkpw.so.0.0 in the
/usr/courier-auth/lib/courier-auth/lib directory?
The configure options of vpopmail are:
./configure \
--disable-roaming-users \
--enable-logging=p \
--disable-ip-alias-domains \
--disable-passwd \
--enable-clear-passwd \
--disable-domain-quotas \
--enable-auth-module=pgsql \
--disable-many-domains \
--enable-auth-logging \
--enable-sql-logging

make  make install-strip

and configure options of courier-authlib are:
./configure --prefix=/usr/courier-authlib --without-authpam \
--without-authldap --without-authpwd --without-authmysql \
--without-authpgsql --without-authshadow --without-authuserdb \
--without-authcustom --without-authcram --without-authdaemon --with-authvchkpw \
--with-mailuser=vpopmail --with-mailgroup=vchkpw
gmake
gmake install
gmake install-configure

My OS is OpenBSD3.9

Sorry for my bad english

Thank you!

[vchkpw] problem overriding qmailadmin limits at authentication?

2006-05-07 Thread Michael Krieger
Interesting problem..qmailadmin-limits is my default that has disable_imap set for the domain. Naturally that should make new accounts have that limit.Sadly though, I want some people to use imap. So I clear the flags (-x) with vmoduser, but the disable_imap still holds true, rejecting the login.I don't recall it working that way before. Is this something new?-M

The limits file applies to every user in the domain -- it's not a
template used when creating new accounts.

If you want some people to use imap, you have to use the -o flag (user
is not subject to domain limits).

[vchkpw] Problem with Courier IMAP

2006-02-10 Thread Javier Santiago Arenas
Hi.

I am working with Courier IMAP v. 3.0.7 + qmail + vpopmail 5.2 and 5.4
under Solaris 80, Vpopmail use LDAP as authentication method. They
worked fine for years.

I am porting this plataform to Linux. I can add acounts, change
passwords. The problem comes when I tried to use the authvchkpw module
under Courier:

Feb 10 21:38:59 localhost pop3d: LOGIN: DEBUG: ip=[:::127.0.0.1],
username=javierarenas
Feb 10 21:38:59 localhost pop3d: LOGIN: DEBUG: ip=[:::127.0.0.1],
password=javiers
Feb 10 21:38:59 localhost pop3d: authvchkpw: starting client module
Feb 10 21:38:59 localhost pop3d: vchkpw: domain does not exist

Ok. slapd don't detect any request. No queries, No errors. Nothing.
Nada.
I can use vadduser and slapd hears the request nicely.

¿Do you have any ideas?

[vchkpw] problem with new vpopmail + mysql3.23 and utf-8

2005-11-30 Thread Dirk Tanneberger

Hello,

i have an old server running vpopmail-5.01, qmail-1.03
and mysql-3.23 under solaris 7 (LANG=C).

Now i installed a new server with vpopmail-5.4.10, netqmail-1.05.
Vpopmail is compiled with the following options:
--enable-roaming-users=y --enable-auth-module=mysql
--enable-mysql-replication=y \
--enable-incdir=/space/tools/mysql/include
--enable-libdir=/space/tools/mysql/lib \
--enable-relay-clear-minutes=60 --enable-logging=v --enable-clear-passwd=y \
--enable-valias=y --enable-auth-logging=y --disable-passwd
--disable-md5-passwords \
--disable-rebuild-tcpserver-file
The myslq-4.1 client-libraries are used.
These server use UTF-8 as characterset.

The new server has a problem with user, which the pw_passwd field contains a
';'.
When i create new passord so long, till the pw_passwd field has no ';' in it,
then
the user can login.
I think there is a problem with the different charctersets.
Has anybody an idea, how can i solve the problem?
Thanks for any help.

On my Outlook, I have a distribution list of 40 people. All addresses are
internal addresses. When i attempt to send mail to all these people, I
get the following errors:
571 sorry, you are violating our security policies (#5.7.1 -

571 sorry, reached maximum number of recipients for one session
(#5.7.1 -

Is there somewhere in the config files that allows me to disable this

my file /etc/tcp.smtp

127.:allow,RELAYCLIENT=,CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT=60,CHKUSER_WRONGRCPTLIMIT=10

Here you see which are your limits enabled.
You can either:
cut these

increase
these limits.
disable
#define CHKUSER_RCPT_LIMIT_VARIABLE and CHKUSER_WRONGRCPT_LIMIT_VARIABLE
and recompile qmail-smtpd.
I suggest you to not apply the third one, and try a solution with the
first two.
More, I suggest you to disable chkuser on internal relaying, and use it
only on external SMTP acceptance.

[vchkpw] problem local domains also virtual domains

2005-10-11 Thread BonzaiBoy
Hi,

My Qmail-server was working perfectly until today: I work with a virtual vpopmail-domain.

When I run the command qmail-showctl, then my domain is listed in the
locals as well as in the virtualdomains, but this should only be in
the virtualdomains (I don't know what happened that provoced this).

Can anyone help me to remove my domain from the locals WITHOUT removing it from the virtualdomains ? ?

Kind regards,

Gorik

open your favorite text editor, and open the locals file
remove the domain from the locals file
save the file
close the text editor
give qmail-send a HUP signal

[vchkpw] Problem with vadddomain -u and mysql authentication.

2005-08-25 Thread Tijs Zwinkels
Hey vpop-mailers! :),

I am currently trying to use vpopmail 2.4.12 with mysql authentication.
I want to store the mail in the user-directories, to make mail count for the
system-quota's. Therefore i'm using the vadddomain -u flag.

Both in the qmail-send log when trying to send a message
( vmysql:_can't_read_settings_from_/var/vpopmail/etc/vpopmail.mysql/vdelivermail
:_deferred,_database_down/ )
as in the qmailadmin error_log when trying to logon
( vmysql: can't read settings from /var/vpopmail/etc/vpopmail.mysql)

I'm getting errors about not being able to read the vpopmail.mysql file.

For domain created without the -u option, or if i make the vpopmail.mysql file
world readable, everything works fine.

It seems that both qmailadmin and the delivery process 'setuid' to the user
that's receiving the mail. The problem is: the vpopmail.mysql file isn't
readable by 'normal' users.
Nor i want it to be readable by my users: With the information in this file,
they could logon and alter the database for every user on the system!

Any ideas on how to handle this?

Thanks in Advance,
