[vchkpw] Problem with autorespond
Hello, I am running a vpopmail system with MySQL database and maildir++ patches based on instructions at http://www.shupp.org/toaster/. I am having problems with the autorespond. When users set a vacation message, qmailadmin uses the autorespond from Inter7. People sending to users with vacation messages active will immediately receive a response from the MAILER-DAEMON saying that the user is over quota. The problem is is that this user does not have a quota set. If I set a quota, everything goes through fine. Any ideas? !DSPAM:4d74ee4f32711402572052!

[vchkpw] Problem with autorespond
Hi All: We having a problem getting autorespond 2.0.5 to properly replace the 'from' and 'subject' header lines on emails that it sends back. The program is adding a 'from' and 'subject' header but they are showing up as part of the body of the returned email instead of in the header. Any ideas? Has anyone else seen this? I know the program used to work properly but it's been a while since we've actually tried it. We're using Bill's Toaster with the most recent Simscan, Clamav, SA, and qmailadmin. Thanks. Re: [vchkpw] Problem with vpopmail: deliver all mail to /var/spool/mail/vpopmail
I would take a look at your default maildroprc file, that is most likely where the problem lies. By default, it will deliver to /var/mail/vpopmail. I just encountered this behaviour while setting up a new mail server. There may be a more precise description for what I just said, but as pointed out above, I would check your default maildrop script(/etc/maildroprc I think) or any custom scripts you might have in play. [vchkpw] Problem with vpopmail: deliver all mail to /var/spool/mail/vpopmail
Hello I have netqmail 1.06 on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 x86 following LWQ. I have installed vpopmail 5.4.28 with the following compile options ./configure --enable-file-sync --prefix=/buzones/ --enable-maildrop --enable-domainquotas So NO mysql support. I have created a test domain (javierito.com) to test that everything works as desired. I see in /home/vpopmail (a symbolic link to /buzones/vpopmail) that in the folder /buzones/vpopmail/domains exists a folder called javierito.com With qmailadmin I can create users successfully . I also have configured dovecot to auth against vpopmail, everything works great exepct that mail is NOT deliveres where it should. Example: - I create a user pru...@javierito.com - I check that /buzones/vpopmail/domains/javierito.com/prueba has been created, permissions and owner ok. - When I send a mail to pru...@javierito.com I see in /var/log/qmail/current the following: @40004acdd2f818008224 info msg 4485292: bytes 232 from javierdemig...@us.es qp 18966 uid 501 @40004acdd2f81b7da2c4 starting delivery 2: msg 4485292 to local javierito.com-pru...@javierito.com @40004acdd2f81b7da6ac status: local 1/10 remote 0/20 @40004acdd2f822f5af24 delivery 2: success: did_0+0+1/ @40004acdd2f822f5b30c status: local 0/10 remote 0/20 @40004acdd2f822f5b6f4 end msg 4485292 But mail does NOT appear in /buzones/vpopmail/domains/javierito.com/prueba/Maildir/new. Instead, the mail is delivered to /var/spool/mail/vpomail, in mbox format. I am a bit puzzled with this. I provide the following files: /var/qmail/control/locals localhost.localdomain /var/qmail/control/rcpthosts javierito.com localhost.localdomain /var/qmail/control/virtualdomains javierito.com:javierito.com /var/qmail/control/me localhost.localdomain /var/qmail/users/assign/ +javierito.com-:javierito.com:89:89:/home/vpopmail/domains/javierito.com:-:: /buzones/vpopmail/domains/javierito.com/.qmail-default | /home/vpopmail/bin/vdelivermail '' bounce-no-mailbox It's also very strange that I want to user Maildir, I put it in /var/qmail/rc launch script but anyway mail gets delivered in mbox... What am I doing wrong? If I create a second user in that domain (ej: prueb...@javierito.com) it also fails, all messages are delivered via mbox to /var/spool/mail/vpopmail I can provide more config files /logs /whatever to solve this problem. [vchkpw] Problem adding accounts
Hello to everyone in the list. I have a problem with my qmail server. It is running ok with mail received and sent, and with the multiple virtual domains, but since monday, it doesn't let me create new accounts. It doesn't let me delete accounts either, and previously, I could do all this without problems. The error that I get is: server# /var/vpopmail/bin/vadduser u...@domain password Error: Internal (implementation specific) error (80) Failed while attempting to add user to auth backend Error: no authentication database connection I believe I haven't installed new software that can be causing this. There is an openldap server but was installed and running before I noticed this behavior. Of course, I'm trying to execute this command as root. The owner of qmail files is vpopmail who belongs to the group vchkpw. Honestly, I don't know which could be causing the problem. I've checked permissions and owners, and make sure that there is enough space available on disk. I've been told that this is a problem related to vpopmail not qmail. ¿Any ideas? Thanks. !DSPAM:4a7b09ea32711847717437!

server# /var/vpopmail/bin/vadduser u...@domain password Error: Internal (implementation specific) error (80) Failed while attempting to add user to auth backend Error: no authentication database connection There is probably a more descriptive error message in the logfiles. [vchkpw] Problem with maildrop support in vdelivermail
Hi, i have found this problem in vpopmail compiled with maildrop support, mailfilter files included from single users does not work and gives this error: Jun 26 17:42:47 gag18 maildrop[24112]: Unable to open mailbox. but the same configuration in a .qmail file works. Here are some more detail: vpopmail-5.4.26: ./configure --enable-valias=y --enable-auth-module=mysql --enable-mysql-limits --enable-qmail-ext=y --enable-maildrop --enable-spamassassin maildrop 2.0.4: ./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-maildirquota --enable-syslog=1 /etc/maildroprc is based on this: http://www.tnpi.biz/internet/mail/toaster/etc/mailfilter-domain but important for me is this rules: ## # Include any rules set up for the user - this gives the # administrator a way to override the domain's mailfilter file # # this is also the suggested way to set individual values # for maildrop such as quota. ## `test -r $VHOME/.mailfilter` if( $RETURNCODE == 0 ) { log including $VHOME/.mailfilter exception { include $VHOME/.mailfilter } } so i can manage maildrop filter for single user. Ok, the problem is during the include of the local .mailfileter because maildrop return this error in syslog: Jun 26 17:42:47 gag18 maildrop[24112]: Unable to open mailbox. My personal mailfilter is like this: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/vpopmail/domains/pippo.it/alessio.cecchi# ls -la total 20 drwx-- 3 vpopmail vchkpw 4096 2008-06-26 17:45 . drwx-- 42 vpopmail vchkpw 4096 2008-06-24 19:58 .. drwx-- 12 vpopmail vchkpw 4096 2008-06-26 17:45 Maildir -rw--- 1 vpopmail vchkpw 497 2008-06-26 17:37 .mailfilter [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/vpopmail/domains/pippo.it/alessio.cecchi# cat .mailfilter [...] if ((/^From:.*MAILER-DAEMON/)) { to ./Maildir/.mailer-daemon/. } [...] it seems that the home directory is settled in the wrong location (error in syslog is Unable to open mailbox) the strange thing is that if I disable maildrop support from vpopmail/vdelivermail and in my personal .qmail file set: |/usr/bin/maildrop /etc/maildroprc everything works properly But this command is not the same that vpopmail call? Re: [vchkpw] Problem compiling courier-auth 0.59.3+
Some very smart person - I'm REALLY sorry I cannot easily find the link to give proper credit - posted this patch out there a few weeks ago. I don't think it's become mainstream yet, but I literally just went through the same problem with authlib 0.59.3 and vpopmail 5.4.17. Crud, NO that is not the correct link for what I thought was the patch source. OK, I found it! It's in French, that's why it's kinda hard to find. You can run this page through Babelfish and get something readable, but the patch originated from this page http://christian.caleca.free.fr/qmail/courier-imap.htm Credit due. D. Some very smart person - I'm REALLY sorry I cannot easily find the link to give proper credit - posted this patch out there a few weeks ago. [vchkpw] problem overriding qmailadmin limits at authentication?
Interesting problem..qmailadmin-limits is my default that has disable_imap set for the domain. Naturally that should make new accounts have that limit.Sadly though, I want some people to use imap. So I clear the flags (-x) with vmoduser, but the disable_imap still holds true, rejecting the login.I don't recall it working that way before. Is this something new?-M

[vchkpw] problem with new vpopmail + mysql3.23 and utf-8
Hello, i have an old server running vpopmail-5.01, qmail-1.03 and mysql-3.23 under solaris 7 (LANG=C). Now i installed a new server with vpopmail-5.4.10, netqmail-1.05. Vpopmail is compiled with the following options: --enable-roaming-users=y --enable-auth-module=mysql --enable-mysql-replication=y \ --enable-incdir=/space/tools/mysql/include --enable-libdir=/space/tools/mysql/lib \ --enable-relay-clear-minutes=60 --enable-logging=v --enable-clear-passwd=y \ --enable-valias=y --enable-auth-logging=y --disable-passwd --disable-md5-passwords \ --disable-rebuild-tcpserver-file The myslq-4.1 client-libraries are used. These server use UTF-8 as characterset. The new server has a problem with user, which the pw_passwd field contains a ';'. When i create new passord so long, till the pw_passwd field has no ';' in it, then the user can login. I think there is a problem with the different charctersets. Has anybody an idea, how can i solve the problem? Thanks for any help. regards Dirk Tanneberger

So let me start with one of the more simple ones. On my Outlook, I have a distribution list of 40 people. All addresses are internal addresses. When i attempt to send mail to all these people, I get the following errors: 571 sorry, you are violating our security policies (#5.7.1 - chkuser ) 571 sorry, reached maximum number of recipients for one session (#5.7.1 - chkuser ) Is there somewhere in the config files that allows me to disable this 'policy'? my file /etc/tcp.smtp 127.:allow,RELAYCLIENT=,CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT=60,CHKUSER_WRONGRCPTLIMIT=10 :allow,CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT=60,CHKUSER_WRONGRCPTLIMIT=10 Here you see which are your limits enabled. You can either: cut these variables from tcp.smtp (at least in the internal zone) increase these limits. disable #define CHKUSER_RCPT_LIMIT_VARIABLE and CHKUSER_WRONGRCPT_LIMIT_VARIABLE and recompile qmail-smtpd. I suggest you to not apply the third one, and try a solution with the first two. More, I suggest you to disable chkuser on internal relaying, and use it only on external SMTP acceptance. Tonino
[vchkpw] problem local domains also virtual domains
Hi, My Qmail-server was working perfectly until today: I work with a virtual vpopmail-domain. When I run the command qmail-showctl, then my domain is listed in the locals as well as in the virtualdomains, but this should only be in the virtualdomains (I don't know what happened that provoced this). Can anyone help me to remove my domain from the locals WITHOUT removing it from the virtualdomains ? ? Kind regards, Gorik

[vchkpw] Problem with vadddomain -u and mysql authentication.
Hey vpop-mailers! :), I am currently trying to use vpopmail 2.4.12 with mysql authentication. I want to store the mail in the user-directories, to make mail count for the system-quota's. Therefore i'm using the vadddomain -u flag. Both in the qmail-send log when trying to send a message ( vmysql:_can't_read_settings_from_/var/vpopmail/etc/vpopmail.mysql/vdelivermail :_deferred,_database_down/ ) as in the qmailadmin error_log when trying to logon ( vmysql: can't read settings from /var/vpopmail/etc/vpopmail.mysql) I'm getting errors about not being able to read the vpopmail.mysql file. For domain created without the -u option, or if i make the vpopmail.mysql file world readable, everything works fine. It seems that both qmailadmin and the delivery process 'setuid' to the user that's receiving the mail. The problem is: the vpopmail.mysql file isn't readable by 'normal' users. Nor i want it to be readable by my users: With the information in this file, they could logon and alter the database for every user on the system! Any ideas on how to handle this? Thanks in Advance, Tijs Zwinkels Mindconnect
