It is not necessary, but having a remote with different order of
coulours, it is weird to have them in a different order on the OSD

during a replay of a recording - it would be nicer to have the

remote for this. But naturally these are not functional problems,
they are usability issues (and not a very big issue for me).

Hi!
Yes, Now I got it work.. (My bad) Error was that, that I didn't have
ONLY that Movie/Drama set on... I had other category set on same time.
What IS, in my opinion, a bug! Because in real life, program can only
have one category and if I want to record programs from two or more
categories, I need to make those as different record searches.
And now when I got it work, I can really see that providers put too many
programs under that Movie/Drama category, especially programs what are
NOT movies (but could maybe categorize to drama, if you think widely) :-)

Thank you!

This setting is only useful if your display device can't scale on its own or
the scaling is worse quality. If you enable it the card will always output
native resolution at native refresh.

If disabled the gpu will not touch the mode and output whatever you tell it

skinsoppalusikka (1.7.1) - Soppalusikka skin

problem is when I'm watching recording and press 'pause' -key, playback
is paused for about 1/10:th of second, then it countinues about 2-3
seconds before pausing totally.
This happens most of time when I press pause.. Some times (rarely) it
really pauses right away.

I have tested different (data) transfer methods (pipe, tcp, udp..) and
parameters when starting vdr-sxfe.. No luck!

Have anybody else have same kind of problems? These came when I changed

OH, one thing I have not yet tested.. What happen if I take vdpau off..
Vdpau was reason why I changend to 1.7.x versions.

I would say that you are doing something that you should not... either
mixing packages from several repositories or mixing packages with
self-built vdr. If you have compiled vdr 1.7.10 from the source, do
the same with xineliboutput (but please note that the current cvs no
more supports vdr 1.7.11). If you have installed 1.7.10 from some
third-party repository, use its package for xineliboutput as well, if
possible. If not possible, switch to a repository that offers both.
Perhaps yavdr's repository could suite you well?

System where I started was Ubuntu 9.04 + deb
http://ppa.launchpad.net/the-vdr-team/vdr-ubuntu-karmic/ubuntu karmic
main from where I got that vdr-1.7.10 -package.
Now when I allowed system to upgrade it self to 10.04 (lucid-version),
there is no lucid directory in ppa.launchpad.net/the-vdr-team, so I
still use that 'karmic'-directory from there.

Hmm.. Yes, you are right.. Lucid gives me
vdr-plugin-xineliboutput-1.0.4+cvs20091016.1108 what is older version
than ppa.launchpad.net, what provides
vdr-plugin-xineliboutput_1.0.4+cvs20091013.1200-7tvt1_amd64.deb..

But because it (lucid) has been compiled later, system selects it.

Hi!
This is maybe too simple question..

I have remote, and one of it's button is connected (in lircd.conf) to
word 'AppExit'.
How I can connect shell script to that? What I want to do is run script what
kills vdr-sxfe and start it again...
I know how to connect vdr-pluging to it.. But script? NO!

Related question.. Is it possible to change order of those colors (what

Because my remote have those colors, but two of those are in different

Maybe I don't understand the problem... Because I don't have any big problems
to watch 720p.mkv files with my vdr (vdr-sxfe) mediaplayer (xine)... However
1080p files are just on the limit of CPU/Hardware power..

Most likely there is something else wrong. If I understood correctly,
the problematic file has AC3 sound, but what exactly is it? Dolby
digital 5.1? Does the same happen with all files containing AC3 sounds?
Could you try with the samples found on this site (e.g. the 26MB Ambient
 Life): http://www.diatonis.com/downloads_dts_ac3.html

What does your receiver say about the stream it is receiving? Does it
recognize it as a DD track?

Even direct link.. But I managed to get that other currents file..

Result:
When I have set # at start of line what defines that passthrough device (--

Same what it says for that test.mkv file, BUT with that mkv file it shows
different speaker configuration.
With this configuration, I can hear music (that currents) but sound from that
mkv file is just surround sound what comes out from front speakers (and not
rear speakers)

When I have set passthrough device to spdif, amp thinks that sound is Stereo
PCM (what explains that digital garbits sound from speakers)

IF I set passthrough device to iec958:CARD=Intel,DEV=0, then result is:
amp don't see any signal and playback is stopped after 1 second.

[vdr] RingBuffer overflow

Hi!
I use NAS system to store VDR data. Speed of network between HTPC and NAS is
over 700 Mbit/s. However reading and writing to RAID5 is only 20MB/s at peak
and about 10MB/s average.
Normally everything is fine, but when there is one or more noad running,
reading/writing data to that same NAS. I start to get those

Oct 18 13:13:37 htpc vdr: [11827] ERROR: 14786 ring buffer overflows (2779768

OK, I can stop using noad... But is there way to allocate enought memory to
ring buffer, so it would not suffer when noad is running?!? My machine have
3 Gigs of memory, so I could allocate even 1 Gig to that ring buffer.

Because CPU speed is controlled with ondemand style. When there is no need

This indicates that xine-lib is not using a new enough ffmpeg snapshot

Depending on the version of ffmpeg your distribution provides, adding
 --with-external-ffmpeg to xine-lib ./configure line could be enough. I
think PAFF interlacing was added to ffmpeg sometime last year.

But as you can see from xine-lib compile log, --with-external-ffmpeg is on..
ffmpeg version is 0.4.9_p20070616-r2 as compile log states.

be sure that your CPU is fast enough

Maybe 2x Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz is not enough.. I think
that it happened because everything else (those problems PAFF and so) took so
long time that it couldn't keep up the sync.

IF they ship to Finland (probably yes; I have bought electronic a few times

Re: [vdr] VDR as a set top box

2008-04-06 Thread JJussi
To go back to the subject, gdm and kdm allow you to autologon an
user. The next step would be to run vdr from .xsession for ex.

I use kdm and kde with autologon.. Starting needed stuff (like vdr-sxfe) in
directory .kde/Autostart/.
vdr-sxfe starts at first desktop in fullscreen mode and rest of programs (like
web browser and few xTerms) at other virtual desktops.. So, when I need
to do something with that computer (hey, it's HTPC not only VDR) I
just jump to some virtual desktop to do.. When I jump back to desktop 1, I
can continue with TV..

Hi!
Have anybody notice that playback is little bit too fast.. Here easy way to
determit that..

1. Select channel X and press REC to start recording
2. Change channel to Y
3. Start playback of recording of point 1.
4. Press Enter to get progress bar. Make note how many seconds behind you are
from live.
5. OK, shall we assume that you are now 10 seconds behind...
6. After 5 minutes, make note how much gap is now.. OH! It's only 5 seconds...
7. After next 5 minutes playback WILL STOP and you are now watching live
channel Y (from point 2.)

Re: [vdr] Problems playing ongoing recordings?

2008-04-01 Thread JJussi
This kind of problems I had too..
When I report that playback is going faster than recording. I.e. you start
recording and after awhile (maybe only 10 second) you start playback of that
recording. Because playback is faster that real life you reach (in some
poin of time) place where you are 0 (zero) seconds behind on going recording.
AND in that point your playback start freeze and jump loop.

xine-lib-1.1.10 + vdr-xineliboutput-1.0.0_rc2_p20080120

I updated this week my Gentoo vdr system and now if I use fast forward (or

After killing vdr-sxfe and starting it again, I have sound again.
Jumping backward or forward don't make audio to disappear.

[vdr] Subtitles - 1.5.11

Can't see them. When I arrive to channel where subtitles exists, OSD tell me

titles. But nothing comes to screen.

Re: [vdr] VDR 1.5.10, Subtitles gets out of sync

2007-11-02 Thread JJussi
Hi!

I just changed to 1.5.10.
I set at Install - DVB menu subtitles on, selecting Fin - Eng - Sve as three
subtitles types (yes, I have tried just one, Fin - too)
I set at Keymacros.conf one User-key to Subtitles

When I go to channel (YLE 1/YLE 2) what uses subtitles, I get OSD info DBV
Subtitles, pressing Enter removes that text. But can not see any subtitles
at screen.

Pressing that User key brings information that there is subtitles (Fin) at
present and it is selected, but still no subtitles..

Have I forget to do something?!?

Hi!

Yesterday, here at Southern Finland one of the TV channels had cut out at
DVB stream (like half hour). And because that stream disapeared little after
than recoding has started, VDR started to restart itself every minute because
there was no stream...
What is point to that, that VDR do restart IF there is no stream what it
should record.. That affected to all other recordings too because vdr was
restarting itself constantly. Not good!
Is there setting somewhere where you can say that do not restart if there
is no stream.

 Yes,

 - The list of recordings is now kept statically in memory to avoid long
delays when opening the Recordings menu. As a side effect, external

 Recordings menu.
If a plugin manipulates the video directory in any way, it can call
 the function

touch the file '.update' in the video directory to trigger an update of the

[vdr] Breaking sound at playback

2007-07-21 Thread JJussi
Hi!

This question is directed more to Finnish DBV/VDR gurus...

I have problem with YLE recordings. When watching live proadcast, sound is
just right but when watch same program as recoded, sound is breaking, picture
is fine, but sound have short gaps.. Like when there is not enougth CPU power
to decode it.
IF I play that file directly with xine sound is fine.. No problem.

During watching, when sound start breaking, if I jump few second backward
sound is fine for a while, but then start breaking again.

So this problem is only with YLE recordings, other channels are fine always.

I have tried to change almost everyhting at xineliboutput and replay settings,
nothing helps. This is not version related (atleast not vdr version).

Magic words are evms or lvm.
Then you can add as many HDs you need afterward and just extend your video
partition to cover whole new HD. Just remember to select right file system
(I use reiserfs) and you can do extend even on-line (as hot)

OK, now I have to move using non-gentoo version of vdr.. ;-)
You cannot include extra patches to gentoo compile process.. Atleast not
easily..

Yes, it was..

BTW, I found bug...
IF you define (at setup) your OSD to it's maximum size (+vertical and
horisontal place to 5) AND you use --fullscreen parameter at vdr-sxfe.. Every
time when you try to access OSD you get
30156 Segmentation fault /usr/bin/vdr-sxfe --audio=alsa:default
--lirc=/dev/lircd --fullscreen --video=xv --syslog --aspect=16:9

OK, if you don't say --fullscreen you can open OSD and fix those values..

[vdr] record plug-in..

2007-05-24 Thread JJussi
Hi!

Is there (somewhere) or is easy to produce plug-in what would save (record)
all what you are watching live? Something like last 30 - 60 minutes?!?

That way you could always rewind backward and that would remove that gap (of
time) what now exists when you press pause (at least I have problem; when
I press pause button, it takes over 10 seconds before it's actually pausing
live stream)

Well, it does look like that xine cannot play back Topfield recordings
without defining the demuxer explicitly. This can be done either by
adding string #demux:mpeg-ts to the filename or by changing the
extension of the file from .rec to .ts. Could you try the latter
 approach with xineliboutput's media player?

JEP!
That works! Now I can play those file with media plalyer.. Because I cannot
say that pretend .rec as .ts I said next in directories:

perl -e 'for(*.rec){s/\(/\\(/g; s/\)/\\)/g; s/\ /\\ /g; $a = $_;
s/\.rec/\.ts/; s/\(/\ /g; s/\)/\ /g;`mv $a $_`}'

I have to converto those ( and ) to spaces...

[vdr] MPlayer plug-in..

2007-05-17 Thread JJussi
Hi! (to everybody)

I have problem with vdr-mplayer -plug-in...
1. It don't play files.. IF I start pure MPlayer it can play all video files
what I have..
2. some how plug-in have problem to see symbol links and (some of) files..

That number one is annoying... Where I can configure file extensions what it
shows.. To select *.* so it's me who decides what I want to play..
And why it cannot play files what normal Mplayer can?
What are parameters what are sent to mplayer when plug-in starts it?

On Thursday, 17. Mayta 2007 13:21, Petri Helin wrote:

Just a few days ago you asked about xineliboutput... why would you want
to use mplayer plugin with xineliboutput?

Yes, vdr-sxfe (xineliboutput) is my frontend what shows content of my htpc..
TV programs and video/music files.

There IS (in menu) Media Player - Play File but
1. it shows only few files (.mpg,.avi) and cannot configure to see other
extensions
2. when try to play HD content (720p) avi, sometimes it crash..

SO, then there is mplayer what plays what ever (almost) what I give it... BUT
if that vdr-mplayer plug-in don't work, then I have to close my vdr-sxfe and
start mplayer (or kmplayer).. OK, I can do it.. But rest of this household
don't.. So It would be easier that you can choose from menu what you want to
watch..

That's why!

[vdr] Best settings..

2007-05-13 Thread JJussi
Hi!

I have very simple and still hard question..

At vdr pluging setup - xineliboutput - Video.
Post processing (ffmpeg) and Deinterlaceing.
What ARE best values (to select) when you have HD LCD (via DVI) as TV and
enough CPU power (Intel Core 2 Duo) to use.

I think that I'm not only one who thinks that there is too many choices.. ;-)
