I haven't noticed any significant battery drain when listening to BARD books. I usually play the book in the app with the phone unlocked. I've got Bluetooth on and use other apps that use more battery power than the BARD Mobile app. I would agree with Richard if you notice a huge drain in battery.

I have no problem with battery drain because I press the side switch or power button and let it play in the background, which is the suggested approach for any audio if you don’t want the battery to drain. You can get 6 or 8 times the battery life if you are listening while the phone is locked.

Bluetooth is not on. Auto brightness is off. I'll have to check on handoff, although I have never turned it on. Wouldn't it show up in the battery details though if it was using lots of power? And I'm not sure about that last thing you mentioned. I've never heard of it. Not sure where to look
