Hi Bob, Fresh Maps give you quarterly map updates as opposed to yearly map updates. Since the Seeing Eye app uses maps on the server where it always accesses the latest maps this of course doesn't apply, but yes, in the end you also pay something with apps like Navigon if frequent map updates

No, you do not need a data connection to use MyWay Classic. It works strictly off the GPS. It does not use maps, instead you make the map by inserting points as you walk. I tried this app yesterday while walking to the barbershop through alleys and parking lots. It worked perfectly! Chuck
