many times. Forgive me. I'm retired now and have more time to watch TAGS and

saddened by the announcement of the upcoming retirement of beloved football
coach Frank Beamer, born in Mt. Airy, NC a little over 69 years ago. A class

I may be in the minority, but I don't mind that we don't know the name of the
gentleman who played Mr. Schwump. I like some mystery and the unknown gives us
something to think about and discuss. Sort of like imagining what Sarah,
Juanita or Andy's late wife might have looked like. I always

Actually Peggy McKay (Sharon Despain) has had quite a prolific acting career.
When I saw her on a rerun of Perry Mason I searched her on www.imdb.com and
found out just how good a career she has had. Apparently she is now appearing
on the soap Days of Our Lives.

Orville, I watch a lot of Perry Mason myself and they do slide across quite a
bit. But they can't do it when Paul Drake's driving because he usually had a
T-Bird with bucket seats. I've noticed another similarity between Perry and
Andy. Even in busy Los angeles, Perry always gets a parking

Ken, After racking my brain for at least 2 minutes, the only picture taking I
can remember is when the would-be bank robbers posed as the award bestowing FBI
Agent and the newspaper reporter covering the story. Barney's fast draw had
never been successfully photographed. All they were able to

Patty, It's true, a lot of underage young men lied about their age and joined
the armed forces in WWII. I had an uncle that ran away and joined the Navy at
16. He claimed to be 18. I was watching the History Channel just last night
and they mentioned the youngest to do that was 12 years old.

The one time Andy was wrong that always bothered me was in Barney and the

David, Very good point on Don Knott's being a dramatic actor playing a
comedian. I have read many reviews raving about Don's stage performance in On
Golden Pond. Doesn't get much more dramatic than that. I remember reading the
same Jack Benny story.

There was a mention of Don Knotts and dramatic roles. I'm sure someone else
will also know this so I'll put it out there. From 1953-1955 Don played Wilber
Peterson on Search for Tomorrow, one of the first soap operas. I'm sure that

Dewey, I also enjoy watching that choir member smile. I've always wondered if
he was supposed to or if he just couldn't help it. There are several scenes
where Barney or Floyd are doing something particularly funny and you can see
Andy put his hand over his mouth to cover a smile.

I'm the one who was referring to Sue Anne Langdon as playing Mary Simpson. I
was using the episode guide from www.iMayberry.com as my reference, was not
going by memory. Sorry if I was in error, but in episode 59, Three's a Crowd,
they have Miss Langdon as playing Mary Simpson. Whatever they
