The design model we began rolling out last year was to have no more than 1 wall
between device and radio. I looked at the hospitality units, and I had 3
concerns: 1) Aruba devices are currently only Wave 1. I'd rather roll out the
most recent technology. 2) I don't want them at 18" outlet

We're new to the Aruba arena and still learning .. I have to assume there is a
way to schedule an unattended upgrade of the controllers/AP's. What is that
process? This way we can schedule the process to kick off at 4a and not have
to be a part of the process until 5a or so.

We send out an IT Survey every year. I'm not sure if it went out this year.
I'll look at the last few years to see what we've done and what the responses
were. One question I'd ask though .. how do you feel about IT referring to
you as a customer?

Our general rule will be to install radios such that no space is more than 1
wall away. Yes, it depends what the wall is. Just as large an issue is, how
many cables are you running to each location? We are running two Cat6's.

..just a diversion from the network side of wireless/BYOD, but how do people
(if at all) address the need for charging the devices that your users want to
throw on your wireless networks in public areas?
We've been throwing up new construction at a rate of about 1 new building every

security concerns that a hospital has, but unlike their tenants, ours are 1)
largely irresponsible children, 2) using systems we have to maintain (I’ve

I just saw this on CNN and jumped on the list to post. Using your own AP is
against the AUP everyone signs at our institution. Now I wonder if that clause
is invalid.

We do not supply PSK connectivity, but there is an open guest network if they
want to attempt to use it. That guest network is severely rate-limited. Like
most of the respondents so far, we push them to wired connections.
