Hi Enda
This is great information, thank you! I wonder, would you mind sending me
that document (from the link you gave below)? I can't download or view any
webpages not approved by our security board(!) Thus, I can't even go to that
link.
I would so appreciate it!!
Thank you again

Hi All
I'm running Solaris 10 11/06 on a Sparc system.
I'm trying to move a container on this box to another box of the same type.
However, I'm going through the instructions from Sun:
http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/howtoguides/moving_containers.jsp
And at one of the steps, it says to run
ut using the
"detach" option?
Thank you for the help.

Hi All
I need to upgrade my Solaris 10 u2 system to Solaris 10 u3 (in order to gain
some additional ZONE functionality that u2 doesn't offer.)
I've googled this and can't seem to find a 'how-to' upgrade from u2 to u3
(on a sparc system).
I *think* I must use "live upgrade" but I can't find inst
Hi All
I'm trying to modify my existing resource pools I've assigned to various
Whole Root Zones. I've never changed the existing settings before.
Do I just run "pooladm" and delete the existing resource pools and create
new ones (this is what I'm trying to do)?
Your help if very appreciated
Never mind, I found the option, "pooladm -x" which will delete all current
pools. I can then start from scratch at that point.
thanks

Hi All
I have a major issue with my OpenSolaris 10 sparc box.
I have 16GB of RAM on the box. Every one of my zones see's this 16GB of RAM
and so I can only run 3 Oracle zones (because Oracle must use 50% of the
total ram it sees, and it can't be changed.)
Here's my question: Is there any way in
Hi Mike, ohhh, I wish I could use that capped-memory! I'm on update 3, so my
zones don't support it. Bummer.
Thanks for the response

So far, no luck on that. I've been speaking with a bunch of Oracle guru's
and they can't figure it out, yet...

That's probably because they have massive amounts of memory installed.
Unfortunately, we don't.
I can't find any Oracle experts who know how to tune the memory
requirements... ugh. In fact, the one's I have spoken to don't know if it's
even possible.
Thanks for your response.

There's no such thing as "OpenSolaris 10." OpenSolaris is
in a corner an
cry when someone bashes me!? Have you lost all your sense of dignity and
courage??
Please don't email me and defend your colleague who was obviously out of

Does anyone know how to setup and run Solaris Management Console on a

Okay, that's good information. I can then install it manually and things
should work. I'll try in the morning.

I'm trying to write a script that will shutdown all zones from the local
