NEW ROUND OF NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN MONTENEGRO AND SERBIA IN EU PRESENCE
DJUKANOVIC MET SOLANA IN CONFIDENCE

PODGORICA- Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic announced confidential
meeting with EU High representative Javier Solana tonight in Belgrade,
before negotiations between Montenegrin, Serbian and Yugoslav officials
about redefinition of Montenegrin and Serbian relations.

Certain matters important for plenary session preparations and future
dialog will be reconsidered at the meeting - Djukanovic said, adding
that the talks will be continued in the future, with a view to reaching
"final resolving of Montenegrin state-legal status".

MONTENEGRIN ASSEMBLY PRESIDENT VESNA PEROVIC
INDEPENDENT MONTENEGRO -BETTER SOLUTION FOR BOTH REPUBLICS

PODGORICA- The independent Montenegro is a better solution for both
Montenegro and Serbia, since conflict between the two Yugoslav republics
will only postpone democratic changes- President of the Montenegrin
Parliament Vesna Perovic said.

In her opinion Montenegro, as an independent state, could reach a great
economic progress for the next five years and it is also in Serbia's
interest to have such a neighbor.

Otherwise, citizens of Montenegro will not accept the loss of their
state integrity and therefore Montenegro will be a burden to Serbia.
This will prolong a constant conflict between the two republics and
democratic changes as well.- Perovic concluded.
