well, it does need a big enough disk. But otherwise, the beauty of the computer running vortexbox is that you don't really do anything with it. You control it all from a web browser ON SOME OTHER COMPUTER running on your network (I do it from my laptop). In my case, I enter "http://192.168.1.18/" in my browser (where 192.168.1.18 is the computer running vortexbox's IP address). Then you see a graphical interface related to updating linux and/or SbS (press a button and wait, simple), or rebooting the machine, etc. So you can do lots of things from the graphical interface you reach via a browser. That's how it is designed. You can also do command line stuff if you want to (but not required). For this you can either use PuTTy to get to the vortexbox machine or simply hook up a monitor and keyboard. Bottom line, the vortexbox system is designed to run 24/7 with little or no input from the user. -- garym System 1: Vortexbox Appliance (1.10) > SbS 7.6.2 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) System 2: Win7(64) laptop > SbS 7.6.2 > Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio and laptop) Retired: SB3, Duet Receiver Controlled at both locations with: iPhone (iPeng), iPad (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.6 on Win7(64) laptop Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Additional Tagging - mp3tag ------------------------------------------------------------------------ garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90827 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
