I use Thunderbird (threaded) and have never had any difficulties with quoted text. If the trailer follows a standard signature, it may be gray, but it's there. Most of the time, that is. And I'm talking about the direct message, not the quoted part picked up from the message being responded to, so I really don't see how this could be the problem.

Let me try to say this again: in Gmail webmail interface, generally in all posting which are a response / reply of other posting, the unsubscribe trailer will be by default HIDDEN (not shown, not just gray) under a "- Show quoted text -" text button. The user must click that text button to see the unsubscribe trailer.

Gmail do this because the trailer will be considered a quote, since it exist in the replied e-mail as well.
