Looks like vALVE may hav made another exceedingly stupid judgement error
if they think dedicated server is tied to a STEAM account.

The clock os ticking. If vALVE stupids out on this then I am getting out

Damn... go to just one woodsball event and you will never... ever... go

same subject?? Or the abuse that comes from some of the people on this
list to normal questions or when they are incapable of giving
intelligent responses. No we don't!

I stay on this list because there are a few people on here that provide
excellent help and assistance, because of the notices that we get from
Valve and because they do actually listen to some of what is said on
this list. Frankly the way this list has been of late I'm amazed they
listen to anything that anyone says!

I would be extremely pleased to see Valve taking a closer hand in
moderating this list and kicking out the persistent abusers and whiners.

In the mean time - learn some mailing list etiquette

OK, I finally got my -console mode to work from the Steam server GUI.

Now, how do I create and execute my own servr.cfg from the -console version of

I can get the server to run in a console window, but it is only server defaults

I tried + exec server.cfg, and that didn't work.

Anyone know how to execute my server.cfg on startup ??

Cain, goto play games. Then goto Source dedicated Server and right click
then goto properties. Then click the button Launch options
type -console -game (what ever source server) -ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx +port

Wondering:

I am also having re-occuring crashes with mani version 1.10za (only
plugin).
Maybe the problem is related to friendly fire..(?) At least that is a
sure way that I can get the server to crash. By killing a team-mate
once, makes no harm.. But killing another team-mate again, even later
in a new game (same map), will get my server to crash with
memory-error...

So... What are your FF-setting? On or off? And do you experience
crashes?
My server has FF set to On.. And craches...

 Wondering:

I am also having re-occuring crashes with mani version 1.10za (only
 plugin).
Maybe the problem is related to friendly fire..(?) At least that is a
sure way that I can get the server to crash. By killing a team-mate
once, makes no harm.. But killing another team-mate again, even later
in a new game (same map), will get my server to crash with
 memory-error...

So... What are your FF-setting? On or off? And do you experience
 crashes?
My server has FF set to On.. And craches...

Not running Beetlemod, but running Mani v1.1.0za with 14 bots
continuously with 17 slots. Bots refer to humans and not a problem with
the official maps (30%) or Custom (70%) maps crashing. If I do have a
crash it is usually a memory module that is causing it or a bad pointer.

[hlds] No Comment from Valve ?

2005-09-26 Thread leo bounds
Why has no one from Valve said one word on this list
for days.

Come on Valve.. at least say if DOD:S files will or
will not be available on hldsupdatetool.exe

Not saying a word to all the server admins and Game
Host providers on this list is really freaking lame.

You must know all the people here wondering what the
heck is going on but make no comment at all.

Very disappointed in the lack of information from
Valve on the day of release.

We are now 5 hours from unlock time but our company
will have no servers online for our customers to use.

Perhas Valve is taking note of all the pirate DoD:S servers that are
running right now due to the leak a few days ago. There are several
dozen servers and a decent number of people already playing the game.
Valve may be taking note of the server IPs, etc. before releasing the

[hlds] Custom map and Mani mod not working after update and Fix.

2005-09-26 Thread \[DinoBot\]Sidmind
Someone just posted they get garbage in the console.
here is how I solved a simliar issue, but not sure if
it's the same as the other guy.

I have ran into a problem with 1 custom map that I
wrote.

whenever I load that map, all I see is garbage in the
console screen. but restart with a default valve map,
then it's clean.

This is only a problem with Mani mod(rev. za) and
weapon restrictions.

Unfortunatly I used .bzip to inbed the MANI mod weapon
restriction files into the map, so I will have to
rebuild it and change the name.(fy_dinolockdown)

I assume others might be having a similiar problem, so
try getting rid of any MANI weapon restrictions and
see if that helps. Perhaps mani changed the way it's
read???

That and they may well be still a sleep. We are all itching to go but
bitching about it ever 30 seconds is not gonna help. Everything
that needs to be said has been said so please guys give it a break

The people in the know will be aware that if they release the client
without giving the GSP's and admins time to download and get the
servers up and running it will be a disaster.

The only thing I can think of is that I have Bots loading with or

Just wondering if there's a different version or some other conflict or

Do you have the same problem on both windows and linux (guessing you prob

others not. (currently running centos 4, win2k3 primarily)

RE: [hlds] Still issues with last Server Update

2005-09-26 Thread Rick Payton
I run 1 server, and rent another one (Art of War Central based), both
configured the same - Mani Mod za, Small statsme (July release - need to
update that), friendly fire IS on, and on my personal server run 4 bots
constantly, and on the AoWC server, we run 6 bots on hard that join
after players join.

For fun, I TK my clanmates at the end of a round if we won, and they do
likewise. No server crashes yet. Maps vary between stock and custom
(mainly de_dust_pcg, de_thematrix, and fy_iceworld on the custom side)

Wondering:

I am also having re-occuring crashes with mani version 1.10za (only
plugin).
Maybe the problem is related to friendly fire..(?) At least that is a
sure way that I can get the server to crash. By killing a team-mate
once, makes no harm.. But killing another team-mate again, even later
in a new game (same map), will get my server to crash with
memory-error...

So... What are your FF-setting? On or off? And do you experience
crashes?
My server has FF set to On.. And craches...

The crash does not retain logs from the game in the logs folder when this is
occuring. I luckilly had HLSW running and it automatically saves the
console to a log file. There are no error messages, the last line on both
logs is a - suicide with world.

Has anyone else experienced this? I can't see how it would be plugin
related, but I am running Mani Plugin 1.1.0za, Mattie's EventScripts
0.9.1.0 , LastManStanding 2.5, counter-bet-menu 1.3 and Vweegit's
Pickpocket 1.2.

I just talked to one of the admins who was on the server at 12:25pm PST and
said he was on de_dust2 playing against 1 bot. He planted the bomb and when
it blew, he died from it, and the server crashed then too. So 3 committed

Yeap, I agree, You look into your server folder, under your steam
files, and there's a dod folder with some corrupt looking
gameinfo.txt file, and that's all that's in there, nothing else, also
the gameinfo.txt complains as being invalid file format when u try to
start a DOD:S server via steam.

Although, maybe the files will appear when the gcf's are unlocked.
Although I doubt it, I think that's just client-side files, but I could
be wrong, the files could be nearly the same just like CS:S is.

update,
 and
just used the patch file not the full one to update them which
fixed
 it).
Just wondering if there's a different version or some other conflict
or
something? Also I think there's a stats workaround where just the
stats
 in
mani can be turned off in the config.
Do you have the same problem on both windows and linux (guessing you
 prob
have both), as obviously wondering whats different to cause some to
go
 down
others not. (currently running centos 4, win2k3 primarily)

The STEAM version doesn't exist! Take a real look at it, all it is, is a
menu option there are no files like the other source servers that is why
it
doesn't work. They have not released the server files in any form yet.
And
at this point its likely to be a total mad had if they come out.
Personally
I think we are looking at DOD:S only being playable in single person mode
for a bit.

vALVE will release DOD:S when vALVE is good and ready.
No doubt they are busting butts trying to ready the release right now
and have no time to responde to negative sounding demands for status
updates.
The official release time remains 3:00 PM Pacific time today.

Leaked code has a major delaying effect on any game since the suits
and lawyers become involved.
Hopefully no such delays will transpire today cuz me wanna grab a
Thompson and go on a pwnage streak! (unfortunately it will be me who
gets the pwnage treatment..)

Dustin (and anyone else),

Please do us all a favor and edit those replies. I get the digest version of
the list too, so I know it's annoying to do, but please go the extra step. We
don't all want to see the same messages over and over and over again, not to
mention the mile long e-mail. We have to wade through all that to get to the
next message, if using digest.

Thanks,

Looks like they are wanting EVERYONE to make sure they are updated to

[hlds] Day of Defeat: Source server preload

2005-09-26 Thread Alfred Reynolds
We have made Day of Defeat: Source available to preload. You can preload
it into a fresh location or with an existing Counter-Strike: Source or
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch installation.

To preload the server run:

Win32:
Hldsupdatetool -command update -game dods -beta preload

Linux:
./steam -command update -game dods -beta preload

Note that the preload does NOT give you a functional Day of Defeat:
Source server, the last little bit of the server (a couple MB worth)
will be released when the client is later today.

If you forget to put -beta preload on the command line then you will
not get the preload, so don't forget it.

Re: [hlds] Day of Defeat: Source server preload

2005-09-26 Thread Alex Spencer

I seem to be getting everything fine using

hldsupdatetool -command update -game dods -dir \DODS
