about 8:30. There was a continual movement of shorebirds on to and away from
the bar while we were there. A maximum estimate at one time would be 5-600 in

This morning I was at Jones Beach West End from 7:30-9:30 and had some

The Jones Beach Shrike continues at the Teddy Roosevelt Nature Center (
West End 1 field). On the parking lot of West End 2 were numerous Horned
Larks and Snow Buntings. Three very cooperative (1 male, 2 females)
Just in case there are any lingering doubts there is a useful article

In pursuit of crossbills this morning I only came across good numbers of
Pine Siskins and American Goldfinches. A few Northern Harriers were seen by
the Nature Center and Red-Breasted Nuthatches were also plentiful. Along
Ocean Bay Parkway an Osprey was spotted perched. Photos of these birds

Joe Giunta, Sam Jannazzo and I (Sy Schiff) started at the Coast Guard Station
parking lot. We flushed a Winter Wren from the vegetation by the concession
stand on our way to the gazebo. On the bar were the usual suspects including
the MARBLED GODWIT and ROYAL TERN.

didn't you). Lots of birds inc, PURPLE FINCHES and PINE SISKINS, some of which
dropped in.

Beach West End, Nassau County, LI.
The bird is still frequenting the area just east of the boardwalk at the Nature
Center, on the ocean side of the parkway.
