Has anyone noticed that the search service name changes after it's started?
At first I was going mad but the screenshots from Mastering SharePoitn
Foundation show the same thing, although don't explain it.

We managed to resolve this problem by modifying the host file on the search
server for the affected host names. (Thank God!)
Still having a problem with crawling sts3 addresses
no problems and I can add a LVWP to default.aspx via

Generally speaking you would recreate the web apps in your dev/stage farm
first. Don't create any site collections.
You should then be able to perform a backup/restore from your prod
MOSS 2007? This happened to us a couple of times. Resetting crawled content,
search service stopping, setting changes in SSP, new SSP can all affect this.
In our case, the Search Query Logging settings were somehow disabled. Not by me.

The word cumulative in cumulative update means that a CU contains all earlier
CUs. So December CU contains October, August, ... CUs

As a test I would download a copy of each file affected. Delete the originals
from the library. Then upload them again and re-index. Seems like something has
