I thought I would update everyone on the saga of my weird results since using the melamine pad on the silver rods. I cleaned them using H202 and then distilled water, but the CS still took seven hours or so and the generator wouldn't turn off and the CS ppm measured only 4 (using a TDS) I

Same here, that's all I've ever used and have never had a problem, and that's using El Cheapo/est paper towel as well. I won't use any form of scouring pad cos it's needlessly abrasive, and I don't use HP on the electrodes or the storage vessels either cos I don't find it necessary.
