I'd bet you can get Tire Rack to order you up some
without lug holes in them & have them drilled. in the
past there was a machine shop in IN who did this
for them with the M3 Kosei's IIRC.

Here are some pictures of the Principessa Charlize's (tm) first Ferrari ride
ever (the F40 does NOT have a passenger side airbag)!

It's also the first time that the Lovely Jamie (tm) got to drive a Le
Mans-spec F40. How many women in the world do you think have done that?
Girlie-Girl Racing, woo-hoo!

More details to come later, including my thoughts on the F40 LM v. Enzo

I think you should be able to run 225/45/15 on a 15x7 wheel.

ps. I doubt that it is worth it to convert the car to E30 M3 hubs
just for running a 20 mm wider tire.

Ron,

Shipping tires separately like others said "is" the way to go...but I didn't
see much advice on "who" to use as a carrier. I have found that UPS will
charge an "import" TAX on items like your wheels...and the receiver will have to
pay "when" the packages arrive...it IS NOT cheap. Better check before you ship
with anybody....ask about the TAX!!!!!! Several years ago I bought a set of
vintage BMW alloys from a guy in Canada and had to pay somethimg like an "extra
$80" upon receipt to get them into my hands.....total ripoff for sure...better
check this out.

Good luck,

I agree. An 8 inch rim is better, but a 7 inch is sufficient.

FYI
In 1991 (maybe other years, don't know squat about Volvos), Volvo
attached spongy foam to the inside of the clean side of the airbox.
After 12 years, this foam deteriorates. Then chunks of it suck up
against the intake screen of the HFM. Then when the turbo takes a big
breath of air, the restriction causes the intake hose to collapse flat
and severely limit power until you lift again.
Amazingly, it didn't take us too long to find this. Just thought you
would be amused. Go turbobricks!

Happy New Year to all!

The speedometer of a colleague's 1991 318is has decided to quit working.
According to him, everything else in the cluster is working as normal. The
dealer wants to replace the entire instrument cluster to the tune of $800.

Is there anything else that could be causing the problem? Sensor, ground
wire, other? I searched the archives to no avail.

In case it matters, the car is meticulously maintained and has only 94k
miles.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Geoff

electronic sensor located in rear diff (toothed wheel/ hall effect I
think).. plug sometimes gets messed up, toothed wheel (magnetic) sometimes
gets crudded up.. is the odometer working also?

e30 instrument clusters often have cold solder joints where the gauge
attaches to the board (and loose nuts holding the temperature and fuel
gauges, but that's another story).. careful work with a soldering iron and
magnifying glass sometimes takes care of that

Tom,
  I have 2 V1s so I won't bid on yours but I do have a question. Is this a
very early or very late model? I have not seen a V1 with the signals built
into the rear view mirror.

Ben,
The rear view display isn't a Valentine product, it's a modified rear
view with a Valentine remote display inserted into it. Tom isn't
selling a V1, just the rear view display.

It is not a Valentine product.
You can follow the linkto
http://www.apexcone.com/JimPowellHomepage/Radar/RadarLove.html
Also http://www.umnitza.com sells them for $399.00
Don't know if they are the same ones though.

I like the idea of them since my hidden display is in my ashtray and
hard to see. I close the ashtray door to conceal it when not in use.

If I install gauges I will need to relocate the display.
I wonder if a cop can see the rear view mirror display from the rear?

Most of the aftermarket companies are pushing the complete blade/wiper refill assembly
as opposed to the Bosch blade refills (half the cost or less). I know that the newer
Bosch blades aren't compatible with the OE equipment (by design) so that you have to
replace the complete assembly.

You can still get the refills from BMW (cheap) and certain aftermarket mail order
suppliers (including BMA autoparts).

Rich
