Speaking of colors, what does Imola Red look like compared to Henna or
Bright Red? Know of any sites that might show examples of those colors?

Thanks,

I know this has been discussed before, but since the stereos constantly
change I thought I'd bring it up again. Has anyone found an MP3 capable
head unit recently that doesn't look too goofy in an E30 (or E28 for
that matter)dash? I am just not into the whole "Tokyo-at-night" look.
Amber lights awould be cool as well. Anyone bought something recently
that they like? I have considered using an aux-in to hook up my MP3
portable, but since my car is a convertible, I'd rather minimize the
break-in temptation and potential loss.

I just put a Sony CDX-M8800 in my E36. It has a motorized flip down
face plate that hides away during normal operation; when it does
the front is "Active Black Panel", which is basically just smooth
black with it's turned off. When it's on there are a number of
different animations and spectrum things you can turn on,
or you can just turn them all off and have track info displayed.
It's not amber (actually kind of blue/gray), but it's pretty subtle
and adult looking 8^). It also has this thing called BBE which is
supposed to restore some of the information lost in MP3 compression.

Clarion, DXZ645MP, DXZ745MP, nice mild units, very functional, can
color change to a matching amber, and play mp3/wma. Haven't been
selling Clarion for too long, but am still extremely pleased with it -
used a VRX8271 screen and 18 disc changer from 1996 until today across
6 different vehicles. Even that had switchable display color from green
to amber.
The 545 also has a very stock look and plays mp3/wma, but only has a
blue display.

Supposedly Eclipse also has decks that can do similar to that, but I do
not know for sure - no sales/usage experience with them. Although I had
one of their 7002 screens w/ changer and was very impressed.

Best of luck

I have one of those in my E30, I forget the model but it's probably the
745MC, mine has the music catcher feature which allows you to record
about 6 CDs worth into some sort of RAM that it has built in. I'm
fairly happy with it. Pros are that it can match the interior
lighting, the music catcher thing I really like, and it improved the
sound over the Blaupunkt I took out (stock speakers AFAIK). Cons, it
still has that revolving pancake graphic thing which I hate, hate,
hate, I can't believe I didn't notice it in the store (it's not Tokyo
at night annoying tho).

Carlos.

Clarion makes nice hardware...good sound quality on the higher end stuff and
pretty 'plain' looks except for some of the displays. They can get a little
busy...but thats pretty much the norm these days.

Not sure how much money you are looking to spend but I really like the Alpine
9827 in the under $300 range. I have one in my E30 and it does not stand out
too much...pretty mellow display. The MP3 playback on it is very quick and
the sound quality is very good for the money. I actually just added the
SIR-ALP1 Sirius sat tuner to our 9827 and it *rules*.
Must...have...sat...radio ;-)

I have had bad luck with Eclipse HU's. Mine always seem to have problems with
the CD mechanism after about 2 years. I have had three and two failed..the
third sounds like it is getting ready to fail. They might have fixed this by
now. Good sounding stuff though...but its hard to find a 'deal' on Eclipse.

Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Can anyone tell me the exact location of the coolant
level sensor on a 328i? My car keeps telling me the
coolant level is low, but I know it isn't.

I've got a cheap repair manual, but I can't find it in
the manual. I think I've located it, but it is not
the same as the new one I bought, so I'm not sure if
it is the correct sensor.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Paul

I think I found the color of my old 1970 Fiat 124 Sport Coupe.
Although, it looked a whole lot better in person than in this chip.

there are two "valleys" (that seem to be just part of the metal casting),

engine, and a similarly sized hole which has a small black plastic cylinder
poking out of it, sitting on a spring. I dunno what this piece does... Is
it a switch of somesort? A valve? If you install a filter, it pushes this
cylinder down and holds it down.

him, "be careful, those prongs are kinda thin-looking", he mutters, sh*t.
Yup. Those three little prongs broke off. And are sitting in the bottom of
this little hole in the bottom of the housing. ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!

Thanks (as always!) to Brett Anderson of Koala Motorsports, Paul Dzimian,
Shop Foreman of Motorwerks BMW, and Mr. Landshark himself, Jim Conforti, for
their very helpful advice.

We replaced the filter housing entirely, as we broke the pressure relief
valve. I was concerned that this would be a difficult job, but Brett gave
me a (virtual) slap in the face and pointed out that even a moron like me
could do it. Jim kindly sent detailed instructions on how to R&R the three
hoses and sensor. Amazingly enough, the whole procedure took about 20
minutes (which would have been faster had we not been the most cautious,
deliberate DIY mechanics in the world at this point). Buttoned it all up,
and not a drop of seepage.

So, thanks to the aforementioned as well as this great list!

Is anyone aware of any issues with battery drains on
328ic? In particular, my boss had a '98 328ic vert,
and the battery will be dead in about a week if it is
not started. I believe he has checked the battery and
ruled that out as the problem.

Thanks,
