Adjusting the stop towards the floor is the not what I want for the clutch stop - It needs to come up. Thanks for the info, Rob Brian Ruiz wrote: >Is this a UUC clutch stop? I wedge the screw driver into the ignition and then got it in far enough via the hammer to turn it and unlock the column. I've driving the car about 10k on these tires and I LOVE them. Drove them in 3 inches of snow, and was amazed at their abilities. Also just got back from a road trip to TN in this car. Driving the touring through Deals Gap in TN was extremely fun because these tires are fantastic. I purchased a sport wagon for my wife and so I could still have fun on family trips once in a while, and these tires meet that bill perfectly. -Russ 2002 525it 1994 M5 1982 320i ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Aug 2005 08:42:57 -0400 From: Ed MacVaugh <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Subject: Re: <E39> Sport Package Tire Options Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I have those tires on my Dinan7, won them at an O'fest auction. My buddy's E39 540 wagon with sport suspension gets 15K on a set of tires due to the suspension settings. The cars with sport suspension seem to be noted for this. As a result, those tires would be a super choice, but cost as much per mile as the gas to drive the car. They are considerably more sporting in nature than the Michelin MXV4 that were removed. I actually found the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S to have a pretty firm sidewall (so, a slight deterioration in the "soft ride" but her car's suspension more than compensates IMO) but the additional control and lateral grip is pretty obvious. Limited time in the rain reveals them to be very competent in that aspect too. We haven't seen snow in Ohio here yet since I installed them and likely she won't be spending much time in the snow on them since Nokians are installed for the winters. They do make a little bit of noise/hum at speed (pretty mild by all standards). I decided to try the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S since they are in the same line of new tires as the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 and Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 (that I have installed on my M3 and my 325is, respectively) and I think are some of the best dry/wet tires available today. But I've never been disappointed or unhappy with a Michelin tire. (In 10+ years on all kinds of vehicles) I go through all kinds of trouble to keep my cars nice and REALLY enjoy driving. There is little worse for me than being stuck with crappy tires or tires I don't like for 15k miles or more. For me, its worth the extra money. -Russ -----Original Message----- From: Gary Derian [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, August 29, 2005 10:11 AM To: Russell Highton Jr; Ed MacVaugh; [email protected] Subject: Re: [UUC] <E39> Sport Package Tire Options No doubt the Pilot Sport A/S is an excellent tire, but it is nearly twice the price of a tire 95% as good. I have the Traction T/A's on my daughter's car and they are very good. The thing that had me looking at these was their performance at my son's driving class at Skip Barber in Laguna Seca. They were on the Neon's and performed very well and were liked by the instructors. -Kevin ---------------------------------------------------------------- This e-mail communication is confidential and is intended only for the individual(s) or entity named above and others who have been specifically authorized to receive it. For those unfamiliar, "pretty nice" on these cars doesn't warrant $15k. If it's a stick and a decent repaint, maybe two-thirds of that. If it were a more desirable color (particularly a non-metallic with original paint) and more desirable year (no big bumpers) it might hit the lower part of the estimated dealer asking-price range. But then this is a dealer and he probably gave the poor old valued customer wholesale book value based on NADA average retail of $7900 or less. Real E9 fans know the ones to buy are the pre-74 U.S. cars or Euro versions, in stick-shift only. -Phil John Weese wrote: >I know of a '74 Coupe for sale if anyone is interested (absolutely no >affiliation)...it's pretty nice I have to admit. 60,000 "original" miles, >Granatrot-Metallic with Black leather interior (nice!), a/c, full power >everything....The guy hasn't set a price yet (he's a dealer)..but he >knew the owner >personally, thus that's the only reason he has the car.
