I called Valentine today and they make a "remote display" with a mute button but when you plug it in the main display goes off. I want a remote mute button (down low so I don't have to reach up for it) but still want the display on the unit to work. The only downside I see, other than the price, is that the built in speaker may not be in as optimum a location as the one in the main V1 unit. I have the remote displays and have them mounted in the instrument line-of-sight in the cars. Then when the detector goes off I can see it and my speed at a glance. I highly recommend the remote displays as it does shut off the main display completely for stealthy night driving. BTW, the on V1 mute button still works as does the one on the remote display so even if the display is mounted where it would be akward to press, you can still hit the main button. My favorite programming "hack" is #8 "Muted Volume set to Zero" http://www.valentine1.com/lab/MikesLabRpt3.asp The display and counter still work, but the V1 just shuts up completely when you use this button. I run in "little l" mode with the mute volume pretty far down, so a lot of false alarms just auto mute and do not bother me. The strong signals - like sitting near a cop in traffic or a k-band opener, I hit the mute button to just shut it up. I made a suggestion to Valentine some time back that make it: one push mute, two pushes shut up, but they have never make that change - so I run with push = shut up. Kevin, I have the remote unit from Valentine... its works really well b/c you can mount the main unit up high for better readings, and mount the remote unit so that other drivers (and officers) don't see the display... I thought that I wouldn't like it, but have since changed my mind about 2 min into the first night drive with it...
