Here in New Germany (NJ) I have NJ Manufacturers... I saved roughly half my premium when I switched to them from State Farm... BUT there are 3 catches... 1) you must live in NJ. 2) your company must be a NJM sponsor. 3) you must have a clean record. oh, and I get a refund every year (they are like a credit union... not in it to make a profit :) HTH. -Jason '86 951 "Sparky" '70 240Z "Dusty" '03 325xi "Daisy" '06 Mini CooperS ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Mar 2007 18:03:50 -0500 From: "Dennis Wynne" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Kevin Jay (Mr.Fabulous)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: <OT> Online auto insurance? Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I have Progressive on my motorcycles, they are not as cheap as the lizard but (am I told) give tons better service if you ever need them. In the past I checked car rates with them and for me, with the discounts I get from State Farm, they were higher. My daughter just switched from SF to Progressive online when she got a new car - for her, they were less for more coverage. I have heard too many Geico stories to want to give them a try at any price. They claim the highest satisfaction rating of any car insurance company, but I think that is because anyone with a claim either drops them due to poor service or gets dropped by them due to them having to pay something out. So, I guess if everyone that is a current customer has never had a claim, then they WOULD be happy - right? I have never had any issues with State Farm claims, they have always treated us fairly. That alone would make me a pay a little more to stay with them, just knowing I will not have a huge hassle or be cancelled if I have to file a claim. Craig Eller" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: BMW UUC Digest <[email protected]> Subject: <E36 M3> Rear Shock Tower Subframe Failure - Epilog Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I wanted to tell the end of my story concerning the shock tower issue in my 1997 M3 sedan. Contrary to my belief that substantial damage had occured, the only failed part turned out to be the rear shock mount (RSM) which essentially exploded. This, of course, tore out the trim on top of the shock tower, and took out some of the plastic speaker grill above it (speaker still works), but the shock tower itself was not damaged by the failure of the RSM (whew!!!). After getting some good advice here, doing some research of my on, and talking with Jason of bimmerworld.com, I elected to replace the failed RSM and the remaining one on the left side with upgrated Ground Control RSMs. My decision was based upon the design of the Ground Control unit providing additional support to the area at the top of the shock tower. I drove her home last night light and can notice no difference in the stiffness of the Ground Control RSM and the previous stock unit. The whole event ended up co! sting about $89 in parts and about 2 hours of work. And now for the moral to the story: I have tried to remain keenly aware of special E36 issues including trailing arm bushings and plastic impeller water pumps. This one snuck up on me. My understanding is that if your RSMs have not failed, its not a matter of if, but when, so replace those puppies if you are starting to get mileage on the car. If anyone knows of a list of other E36 "gotchas", I would love to take a look at it. Thanks again for all the help in bringing a happy end to this story.
