Are they essentially the same as the old 40-60 psi systems before it? How about the regulators? Are they also the same and operate under the same principals? I wonder what allowances are made for servicing and bleeding the pressure if you have to replace a component in the high pressure side. How are the injectors different? I read about a clever way that some aftermarket tuners give the injectors (piezo) a rest period (during the injection period) to allow them to cool. Does this imply that the fuel is not providing the necessary cooling? I read an article about the Mazda 3 and it indicated that fuel could be stratified in the cylinder to such an extent that the cylinder A/R ratio could be as high as 65 by positioning fuel next to the spark plug (which would be closer to a 14.7:1 ratio in that region) and without pinging. -Kevin ---------------------------------------------------------------- This e-mail communication is confidential and is intended only for the individual(s) or entity named above and others who have been specifically authorized to receive it. Lean burn, stratified charge and HCCI are all strategies being developed, but the first two fly in the face of our emissions requirements. I've been getting about 30 - 40k, but with a lowered suspension. Your bushings are suspect. I was told that if you can get *any* real motion out of the bushings they are bad. >> I also get a quiet clunk sometimes when going over bumps at low speed - >> I can get it sometimes when tapping the brakes. That sounds like sway bar links. These are easy to swap and pretty cheap. When mine were bad, the rubber was obviously torn. One test is to just unbolt them and drive (slowly) around the block hitting a couple of bumps to see if the sound goes away. Mine were worn enough that I just changed them when I was doing the control arms. Other things to check that I have seen, was the big nut (gland nut) on the top of the front strut housing... mine had come a bit loose and it had created an odd clunk over bumps. I had changed my shocks, so this was suspect for me. Here is a good list that goes over this in order of cheaper/more probable parts: http://www.bmwe34.net/e34main/trouble/front_noises.htm I can't help you with the rotors. All I can say is that with my E34, the only time I've had a shimmy has been because of loose bushings or a slightly bent rim combined with worn bushings. I swapped wheels front to back and it went away. Try that to see if it could be wheel/rim related. That said, rotors are easy to change and pretty cheap, so if you see some run out, I would change them.
