Actually there is. You get free entrance to August Penguin, discount in
ComBooks, and other Hamakor affiliates, cheaper merchandise, etc. You also
make sure that Hamakor has one extra member/friend in its member list.

I don't support discriminating between friends and non-friends in regards to
such positions. By all means, one can do them while not being a friend. As
for upgrading to a full member - this is something that a person should do by
choice and explicitly, not be implicitly forced to do as part of a bigger
deal.
Being a member involves quite a lot of responsibility. The more members we
have the more people need to vote and the more people we need to have a
quorom.

What else can we require for a full member? I think any person who has
voluntarily contributed to FOSS in Israel is eligible to be a member, not
necessarily someone who is actively involved in the NPO-specific activities.
For example - is the Welcome-to-Linux series an activity of Hamakor?
Obviously, Hamakor gave some funding for merchandise, and prepared it, etc.
However, a lot of it was independently organised by the people of the various
clubs, some of them are not members or even friends.
