Hello there, It's Friday and I dont know about you but it seems to have gone pretty quickly and whatever you have planned for the weekend then I hope its a good one! Thanks for all the e mail this week. I started talking about the Radio Times survey earlier in the week saying that Fawlty Towers is the comedy that we would most like to see remade. It's clear that you agree that if you tamper with a classic then it wont work. I remember when they tried to do a follow up to "Are You Being Served?" It failed miserably - I can't even remember what it was called just. I got very excited a few weeks back when they said the Two Ronnies were getting back together. I was not so happy when I realised that it was just to do the links between old sketches!! I think they just about got away with it. By the way, I am grateful for one e-mail suggestion that Paul and I do a Morecambe and Wise sketch for Children in Need, because that's who we remind them of! Talking of TV comedies, one nationa! l paper has has been giving away TV comedy DVDs. I wish I had been collecting the vouchers or whatever you had to do! By, the way tonight there is the second in the new BBC1 comedy series "Green Green Grass". See what you think.
TONIGHT ======= All the day's news, the weather from Paul and if you regularly feed the birds or, more importantly, have a bird table - then something tonight you won't want to miss. Also tonight, I shall be talking to the actress and singer Ruth Madoc who is in a national tour of Annie at the moment. So try and join me as usual. CHRISTMAS ========= Last night on Look North, Matt Richards made a very funny film talking to people about Christmas being 100 days away! I've had several e mails on this subject from people telling me it's crazy that the shops start so early and we shouldnt make it worse. One person tells me that in Hull there is a display which is split in to two halves - one half is BBQ goods and the other is Christmas cards! It says it all!!! Any other ridiculous Christmas stories? Write to Matt - not me! CORNWALL ======== It's no secret that my family live in Cornwall and I was brought up there. I was then surprised to read this morning that a sparkling wine from Cornwall beat 250 Champagnes to win gold in a prestigious international competition. The wine - which beat well know brands like Moet and Chandon - is produced at a vineyard in Bodmin. Great story for Cornwall - also there are things which are sold in this area as pasties - I can tell you they bear no resemblance to a proper Cornish pasty. KIRSTY WILLIAMS =============== I just wanted to give a mention to Kirsty. You may have seen her last night talking to me on the show. The 14 year old from Hull has done so well and chats away like someone a lot older than her years. Since becoming such a hit on "Stars in Their Eyes", Kirsty has been working hard. She is in a long summer season alongside Stu Francis, Bucks Fizz and The Krankies. She is a great advert for Hull and I am sure she is going to do very well in her career. I hope so. REMINDER ======== If you get a moment to drop me a line over the weekend, then you can get me directly at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and that's the same address for any problems which you or someone you know may have for "Leave it to Levy". ANTIQUES ======== The Antiques Roadshow which was filmed at Normanby Hall in June is going to be on the TV this month. What a fab setting for the show. If you haven't been, you should go and have a visit - especially if you have young children. By the way we shall be talking Antiques on the programme next week when the TV show Bargain Hunt comes live from Grantham. I shall be talking to the presenter of the show on Monday. Well better get on. Have a great weekend. Join me tonight at the usual time of 6 30 All the best Peter And for the latest news and more where you live, go to: http://bbc.co.uk/humber and http://bbc.co.uk/lincolnshire ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the BBC Look North newsletter, go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/england/looknorthhull/newsletter/newsletter_index.shtml, enter your email address in the unsubscribe box.
